Harley-Davidson has suspended the shipment of new motorcycles to Russia amid the country’s invasion of Ukraine.

The decision supports America’s sanctions against Russia’s invasion of its neighbouring country.

Harley-Davidson officially joins various large companies in suspending their business with the country, including General Motors, Ford, BMW, and most recently, Volvo.

Although the Milwaukee-based firm has around ten dealerships in Russia, Chris Hodson, senior analyst at Edgewater Research, stated that the country is not an essential market for the brand.

“Russia is not that significant of a market, to begin with.

“Any units that have been earmarked for Russia can be diverted elsewhere,” he said.

Regardless, Europe still remains the second biggest market for Harley-Davidson, after the United States.

Harley-Davidson to expand the Low Rider range with a new version, which according to the latest emission documents filed in the US and German, will be called the Low Rider El Diablo.

The El Diabo will run with the same 117ci (1,923cc) Milwaukee-Eight V-Twin engine, according to the published documents.

However, the El Diablo weighs 4 kilograms more than the standard Low Rider ST, which struck a big question: it might sport a large batwing fairing and a pair of panniers.

Nevertheless, the El Diablo version will get a new paint job, Midnight Crimson/Neblu Red colour scheme.

Reports suggest that the Nebula Red paint combo will pay homage to the 1991 Harley FXRT SportGlide.

The El Diablo might appear in the coming months, probably right after the Low Rider ST goes on sale.

Harley-Davidson sold more than 2,500 units of the all-new Pan America 1250 in the USA last year.

The Pan America 1250 was the headline for Harley-Davidson ever since it was launched as a 2021 model.

The adventure bike was the company’s first-ever motorcycle that genuinely deviated from the company’s iconic cruiser lineup.

Not only the Pan America was dubbed as the company’s new future, but the motorcycle also took top honours in America last year.

While it may receive rave reviews in the US, the European press is less excited about the new bike.

Put it this way; we would rather have the BMW R 1250 GS or the Ducati Multistrada V4 in our garage before the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250.

Nonetheless, the sales figure shows that the customers are willing to shift to something new instead of relying on Harley’s typical American cruiser.

While the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 is an exciting bike, we believe that many aspects need some fine-tuning for the motorcycle to catch up against its rival in the segment.

LiveWire will soon expand its current range of electric motorcycles with the LiveWire Del Mar,  joining the already available LiveWire One.

Harley-Davidson CEO Jochen Zeitz officially said that the first LiveWire S2 middleweight electric motorcycle would roll out in Q2 of 2022.

According to reports, the S2 will pack serious power density and feature an integrated inverter and an onboard charger.

Moreover, it will also utilize LiveWire proprietary and scalable Arrow motor architecture.

Interestingly, LiveWire will also introduce the S3 lightweight two-wheelers soon and share the same but scaled-down version of the Arrow architecture.

The LiveWire S3 will be produced in partnership with Taiwanese scooter manufacturer KYMCO.

While further details remain scarce, the S3 could also be the company first electric scooter.

However, these are just speculation, but the prospect of Harley-Davidson having an e-scooter in the company portfolio would seem preposterous a few years ago.

Nonetheless, all we know for sure is that LiveWire has partnered with KYMCO in the development of the S3 lightweight motorcycle.

Harley-Davidson issued a safety recall for 2021 Pan America 1250 and Sportster S due to instrument cluster software error.

According to the company, affected bikes might not display speedometer or natural indicators if ambient temperatures are below 0 degrees Celsius.

The error could increase the risk of a crash if riders continue operating their motorcycles despite the lack of information on the TFT display.

According to Harley’s record, a total of 3,917 bikes built within a certain specific date are affected by the recall and bikes produced after those dates have updated software installed in their instrument cluster modules.

Evidently, regular vehicle operation such as a cold start-up will cause the instrument cluster to self-heat and affect the entire function.

The affected bikes will display an error message if the rider starts the bike in sub-freezing temperatures.

Meanwhile, Harley owners are advised to contact nearby authorized Harley dealerships to set an appointment. Affected bikes will undergo a software update for free.

Italian luggage specialist GIVI has finally lined up a robust line of accessories for the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250.

The Pan America 1250 can now be fitted with GIVI top case and side panniers with the help of a new rear rack, offered in anodized aluminium made to fit GIVI’s Monokey top case.

Pan America owners can also pick and choose different panniers holders to fit a couple of other GIVI side case options.

There is also a special mounting kit to help owners to install GIVI’s Tool Box on the left-hand side. Owners who like to include additional luggage with GIVI’s Tanklock or TanklockED bags can now do so with the help of a new flange to lock it in place on the fuel tank.

Owners can also upgrade to a taller windscreen that is 46 cm high and 49.6 cm wide, and it is 4.5cm more elevated than the stock unit. However, owners need to purchase a different fitment kit to aid the installation.

GIVI also offers a black engine guard made of steel tubing with 25mm diameter. Do take note that GIVI advises that the unit should be installed by a professional.

We’ve taken the Pan America 1250 Special out for a ride, and the one thing that looks shabby is the stock side stand. Worry not, as GIVI has created a robust side stand sole made of aluminium and stainless steel with a wider footprint (thank God!) than the stock.

If you are planning to add more weight and luggage, we advise you not to put so much trust on the stock side stand.

Currently, there is no confirmation when will the new product range for the Pan America 1250 will be available in Malaysia. However, we suggest that the best check with local GIVI retailers for pricing and availability.

When Harley-Davidson announced its 2022 returning model, the Low Rider S was conspicuously absent from the lineup.

While some assume that the Low Rider S falls victim to Harley’s Hardwire initiative, we believed there could be another side to that story.

It looks like we are not the only one as the folks at Motorcycle.com managed to connect the dots from various sources (mainly Brazilian blogger, Dan Morel and German blog HarleySite.de) that the Low Rider S is still alive.

According to reports, the Low Rider S could get a bump to 1,923cc or 117CI engine, possibly the Milwaukee-Eight 117 powerplant.

HarleySite.de even went as far as to publish an official-looking spec sheet.

Nonetheless, Motorcycle.com managed to verify that the Low Rider S is making a comeback in 2022 in two colour options, Vivid Black and Gunship Gray. Interestingly, the American brand dealer in Thailand also claimed to have sold a 2022 Low Rider S.

Considering that Harley-Davidson has set a date for a new model launch on January 26, the model teased is likely the 2022 Low Rider S.

Moreover, the tagline “Further. Faster” supports the premise of an engine upgrades from the previous 1,870cc to the 1,923cc.

Harley-Davidson is set to kick off the new year with an all-new motorcycle.

The American motorcycle company has teased that there is something new set to be unleashed on the 26 January.

The teaser only features a date and a glimpse of what looks like a silhouette from a tank including the tagline ‘Further, Faster’.

While details remain scarce at this point, there is no harm in trying to deduct what the new motorcycle could be.

Firstly, looking at how aggressive Harley-Davidson is with the new Revolution Max 1250 engine available on the Sportster S and Pan America, the upcoming model could feature the same powerplant.

The tagline ‘Further, Faster’ could also refer to a more powerful version of the two.

However, considering 150hp and 127Nm is more than enough for the Pan America 1250, it’s only logical that the teaser could refer to a more powerful Sportster S.

Firstly, the Sportster S makes 121hp @ 7,500rpm and 127Nm, which means it has room to be injected with extra ponies.

Secondly, with just an 11.8L tank capacity, the Sportster S definitely needs a bigger tank to allow riders to go the extra mile.

Ironically, since the ‘S’ refers to ‘Sport’, the upcoming model could be a touring-oriented Sportster.

Nevertheless, the teaser could mean an entirely different model altogether thus it’ll be best to just wait and see what’s in store from Harley-Davidson.

From concept to reality in under two years, the all-new Harley-Davidson Sportster S now lands in Malaysia with a starting price of RM92,900.

Didi Resources, the sole distributor of the Harley-Davidson brand in Malaysia, recently unveiled the new Sportster S officially at Tropicana Grandhill Property Gallery in Genting Highlands.

We also had the opportunity to test out the new Sportster S; however, we will hold on to our thoughts until we have the bike for a proper review later.

Harley-Davidson first unveiled the 1250 Custom in July 2018, a concept motorcycle dubbed to be the heir to the throne of the ageing Sporster range.

Three years later, the Milwaukee-based company finally unveiled the finished product with the 2021 Sportster S.

The new Sportster S is set to take the world by storm thanks to the acclaimed 1250 Revolution Max, a liquid-cooled, DOHC, 1,252cc V-Twin powerplant capable of producing 121hp and 127Nm.

In an effort to make the riding experience even better, the Sportster comes with variable valve timing (VVT) and self-adjusting lifters, the same function available on the Pan America.

According to Harley-Davidson, the powertrain also function as a stressed member, thus eliminating the traditional frame, which significantly reduces motorcycle weight to just 227kg and results in a very stiff chassis that contributes to precise handling.

The Sportster also comes equipped with a preload-adjustable Showa (piggyback) rear shock connected to the steel trellis swingarm and a fully adjustable 43mm Showa upside/down fork.

A four-piston Brembo radial calliper handles the braking with a 320mm disc at the front and a two-piston Brembo calliper at the rear with a 260mm disc.

Harley’s even generous enough to fit the motorcycle with a six-axis IMU that offers cornering enhanced antilock brakes, enhanced traction control, Drag-Torque Slip Control System, and tire-pressure monitoring system.

To complete the 21st-century features, the Sportster S sport a spherical 4″ TFT instrument, all-around LED-lighting, three riding modes with two custom setups and Bluetooth connectivity.

Other notable functions include:

  • two dedicated power points for pre-wired heated grips
  • USB-C port
  • Cruise control
  • Temperature sensor
  • 12L tank

India’s largest motorcycle manufacturer, Hero MotoCorp, is set to unveil a retro-style motorcycle in collaboration with Harley-Davidson.

Harley-Davidson penned a deal with Hero MotoCorp late last year which saw the Indian firm taking charge of the American brand in the country.

While the core strategy is for Hero MotoCorp to handle sales and distribution of the Harley-Davidson brand in India, the second strategy is for the two sides to develop a mid-capacity motorcycle that will carry the Milwaukee brand in India.

According to reports in India, the development of the new motorcycle is currently underway despite no further details being revealed by both parties.

However, the new model will most likely be a retro-style roadster which is currently the most sought-after segment in India.
