Husqvarna telah menunjukkan prestasi yang baik dari segi jualan sejak pengambilalihannya oleh Pierer Industrie AG pada tahun 2013. Oleh itu, adalah mengejutkan dan mungkin membingungkan bahawa jualan global Husqvarna 2023 menurun – kali pertama dalam satu dekad.

Mereka merekodkan penjualan sebanyak 47,008 unit di seluruh dunia, mewakili penurunan -1.2%.

Penurunan terbesar dicatatkan di India, diikuti Amerika Latin (-13.9%), China (-10.6%), dan rantau ASEAN (-8.7%).

Walau bagaimanapun, jenama itu terus berkembang di kawasan bukan Asia, terutamanya dalam pasaran baharu seperti Slovenia (+119%) dan Cyprus (+58%). Dua lagi negara yang mencatatkan jualan dua angka ialah Ireland (+33%) dan Sepanyol (+19.1%). Jualan di benua Eropah meningkat +7.7%, secara keseluruhan.

Terdapat juga peningkatan +2.0% di Amerika Utara.

Angka tersebut didedahkan oleh laman web Motorcycles Data. Mereka menjejaki jualan kenderaan baharu mengikut pendaftaran (untuk pelanggan) dan bukannya kenderaan yang diinvois (dijual oleh pengilang kepada pengedar). Walau bagaimanapun, mereka hanya menjejaki jualan di 80 negara dan bukannya menggunakan angka yang disediakan oleh pengeluar.

Mengenai Husqvarna

Husqvarna diasaskan pada 1689 di pekan kecil (sekarang bandar) Huskvarna di selatan Sweden, wilayah Småland. Husqvarna pada asalnya adalah sebuah syarikat mekanikal yang mengeluarkan senjata api untuk tentera Sweden. Pada tahun 1903, syarikat itu memasuki industri motosikal dengan produk pertamanya, Husky.

Husqvarna diperoleh oleh syarikat motosikal Itali Cagiva pada tahun 1987 dan menjadi sebahagian daripada syarikat induk MV Agusta Motor. Sekumpulan pengurus dan jurutera di Husqvarna tidak berpuas hati dengan masa depan di bawah Cagiva. Mereka mengasaskan Husaberg AG, pengeluar motosikal baharu di Sweden dan kemudiannya diperoleh oleh KTM AG.

Pada tahun 2007, BMW Motorrad memperoleh Husqvarna dalam perjanjian bernilai €93 juta. Tetapi pada 2013, syarikat motosikal Sweden bertukar tangan semula apabila Pierer Industrie AG membeli semua saham syarikat itu daripada BMW Motorrad.

Pada tahun 2013, saham dan hak paten jenama Husqvarna telah dijual oleh Pierer Industrie AG kepada KTM AG, Husqvarna Motorcycle GmbH telah ditubuhkan sejak itu.

Terdapat juga alat kuasa berjenama Husqvarna, tetapi ini adalah dalam entiti yang berasingan kepada motosikal Husqvarna.

Husqvarna had been performing well in terms of sales since its acquisition by Pierer Industrie AG in 2013. So it is surprising and perhaps perplexing that Husqvarna’s Global Sales dropped in 2023 – the first time in a decade.

They recorded selling a total  47,008 units worldwide, representing a -1.2% drop.

The largest decrease was recorded in India, followed Latin America (-13.9%), China (-10.6%), and the ASEAN region (-8.7%).

However, the brand continued to grow in non-Asian regions, especially in new markets such as Slovenia (+119%) and Cyprus (+58%). Another two countries that registered double-digit sales were Ireland (+33%) and Spain (+19.1%). Sales in the European continent grew +7.7%, overall.

There was also a +2.0% increase in North America.

The figures were revealed by the Motorcycles Data website. The track new vehicle sales according to registrations (going to customers) rather that vehicles invoiced (sold to dealers by manufacturers). However, they only track sales in 80 countries instead of the using the figures provided by the manufacturers.

About Husqvarna

Husqvarna was founded in 1689 in the small town of Huskvarna in southern Sweden, now the city of Huskvarna, Småland province. Husqvarna was originally a mechanical company, producing guns for the Swedish army. In 1903, the company entered the motorcycle industry with its first product, the Husky.

Husqvarna was acquired by Italian motorcycle company Cagiva in 1987 and became part of parent company MV Agusta Motor. A group of managers and engineers in Husqvarna were unhappy with the future under Cagiva. They founded Husaberg AG, a new motorcycle manufacturer in Sweden and later acquired by KTM AG.

In 2007, BMW Motorrad acquired Husqvarna in a deal worth €93 million. But in 2013, the Swedish motorcycle company changed hands again when Pierer Industrie AG bought all shares of the company from BMW Motorrad.

In 2013, the shares and patent rights of the Husqvarna brand were sold by Pierer Industrie AG to KTM AG, Husqvarna Motorcycle GmbH has since been established.

There are also Husqvarna branded power tools, but these are in a separate entity to Husqvarna motorcycles.

Bekas Menteri Pengangkutan Singapura S. Iswaran telah dihadapkan lapan lagi pertuduhan menjadikan jumlah keseluruhan kepada 35 pertuduhan hari ini.

Tuduhan tambahan itu membabitkan dakwaan mendapatkan barangan berharga bernilai kira-kira SGD18,956 (RM66,582.50), atas kapasiti menteri daripada individu yang mempunyai urusan dengan Kementeriannya, kata Biro Siasatan Amalan Rasuah (Corrupt Practices Invetigation Bureau/CPIB).

Mengikut kertas pertuduhan, barangan itu termasuk beberapa botol wiski, kayu golf dan sebuah basikal Brompton bernilai SGD$7,907.50 (RM27,784).

Urus niaga perniagaan itu melibatkan kontrak antara Lum Chang Building Contractors (Lum Chang) dan Penguasa Pengangkutan Darat (Land Transport Ministry/LTA), bagi penambahan dan pengubahsuaian Stesen Tanah Merah serta jejambat sedia ada.

Firma itu juga telah memperoleh projek awam, bangunan dan infrastruktur berbilion dolar di Singapura termasuk menjadi kontraktor utama stesen Bukit Panjang di sepanjang Laluan Downtown.

Kes itu telah mencengkam Singapura, sebagai hab kewangan utama Asia yang berbangga dengan kerajaan yang bersih dan jarang melibatkan rasuah.

Iswaran, 61, menafikan pertuduhan itu menurut laporan media tempatan.

Dia pada mulanya ditahan pada Julai tahun lalu dan didakwa memperoleh sogokan bernilai S$384,340 (RM1,349,813.96) daripada taikun hartanah Ong Beng Seng, sebahagiannya untuk memajukan kepentingan perniagaan Ong.

Helaian caj menunjukkan sogokan termasuk tiket perlawanan bola sepak, muzikal, penerbangan dengan pesawat peribadi Ong dan tiket ke Grand Prix Formula 1 Singapura. Iswaran adalah penasihat kepada jawatankuasa Grand Prix, manakala Ong memiliki hak untuk perlumbaan.

Singapore’s former Transport Minister S. Iswaran was handed eight more charges taking the grand total to 35 charges today.

The additional charges involved allegations of obtaining valuable items worth about SGD18,956 (RM66,582.50), in the capacity of a minister from an individual who had dealings with the Ministry, said the Corrupt Practices Investigation Bureau (CPIB).

According to the charge sheet, the items included bottles of whiskey, golf clubs and a Brompton bicycle worth SGD$7,907.50 (RM27,784).

The business transaction involved a contract between Lum Chang Building Contractors (Lum Chang) and the Land Transport Authority (LTA), for the addition and renovation of Tanah Merah Station and the existing viaduct.

The firm had also secured multi-billion dollar civil, building and infrastructure projects in Singapore including being the prime contractor for the Bukit Panjang station along the Downtown Line.

The case has gripped Singapore, as a major Asian financial hub that prides itself on a squeaky-clean government rarely involving corruption.

Iswaran, 61, denies the charges according to local media reports.

He was initially arrested in July last year and alleged to have obtained kickbacks worth S$384,340 (RM1,349,813.96) from property tycoon Ong Beng Seng, partly to advance Ong’s business interests.

Charge sheets show the favours included tickets to football matches, musicals, a flight on Ong’s private plane and tickets to the Singapore Formula 1 Grand Prix. Iswaran was advisor to the Grand Prix’s steering committee, while Ong owns the rights to the race.

Pengawal FIM telah memutuskan bahawa pertembungan antara Marc Marquez dan Francesco “Pecco” Bagnaia di MotoGP Portugal adalah insiden perlumbaan. Oleh itu, tiada penalti akan dijatuhkan.

Insiden itu menyaksikan Bagnaia terbabas dan kegelinciran tayar hadapan motosikalnya ketika memintas Marquez, sekaligus menyingkirkan kedua-dua pelumba, dengan tinggal hanya 3 lap lagi.

Walaupun dia menerima keputusan FIM Stewards, Marquez juga merasakan ia berada pada ‘had’ kerana baginya Pecco telah melakukan ‘kesilapan’ dalam percubaan memintas semula yang terlalu ‘optimistik’.

Insiden itu berlaku sejurus selepas Marquez mengatasi penunggang Ducati yang semakin perlahan untuk menduduki tempat kelima selekoh ke-5 di Litar Algarve di Portimao. Apabila pelumba Sepanyol itu kemudiannya tersasar sedikit dari garisan di puncak selekoh, Bagnaia bertindak balas dengan memasukki ruang yang terbuka sedikit itu, dan menyebabkan pasangan itu segera bertembung dan terjatuh.

Pendapat Marquez:

“Hanya impak pada bahu, tetapi tidak ada yang tercedera,” kata Marquez, yang bangkit untuk menamatkan saingan di tempat ke-16 dan tersingkir daripada pungutan mata.

“Tetapi ia adalah satu kesilapan kerana kami berjuang untuk kedudukan ke-5, ke-6. Hanya untuk perbezaan dua mata lagi, dua kurang. Dan dia (Pecco) sedang bergelut dengan tayar, terutamanya dengan tayar belakang. Jadi pada akhirnya, apabila 3 pusingan kekal, anda tahu bahawa anda akan kehilangan kedudukan, jadi tidak perlu untuk kembali dalam mod agresif itu. Tapi, dia buat keputusan macam ni. Akibat kepada Ducati ialah 0 mata.”

The FIM Stewards had decided that the clash between Marc Marquez and Franceso “Pecco” Bagnaia at the Portugese MotoGP was a racing incident. As such, no penalty will be handed out.

The incident saw Bagnaia losing the front of his bike underneath Marquez, thereby taking both of them out of the race, with just 3 laps to go.

While he accepted the FIM Stewards’ decision, Marquez also felt it was at the ‘very limit’ of such a description, on the grounds that Pecco had made a ‘mistake’ in launching the ‘optimistic’ re-pass attempt.

The incident occurred moments after Marquez had outbraked the fading factory Ducati rider for fifth place into the Turn 5 hairpin at the Algarve Circuit in Portimao. As the Spaniard then drifted slightly off line at the apex, Bagnaia retaliated by diving for the gap but the pair promptly collided and crashed.

What Marquez said:

“Just an impact on the shoulder, but nothing important,” said Marquez, who remounted to finish in 16th and out of the points.

“But it was a mistake because we were fighting for 5th, 6th position. Two more points, two less. And he was suffering a lot with the tyres, especially with the rear tyre.  So in the end, when 3 laps remain, you know that you will lose the position, so it’s not necessary to come back in that aggressive mode. But, he decided like this. The consequence to Ducati is 0 points.”

The Kedah Menteri Besar explained that he changed to a new car because the old one often breaks down. According to him it is or official use.

Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md. Nor said that the high cost of maintenance and repairs of the previous car made it no longer worth using. He also said the state government has never bought a car for the Menteri Besar since May 2020 and he has only used cars bought by the previous Menteri Besar.

“Those two old Mercedes-Benz used to break down in the middle of the road, sometimes tilted to one side, sometimes lifted due to suspension problems.

“They have reached a stage that is no longer economical, but we continued to repair it because they looked like they were still good but it costs up to RM50,000 to repair.

“The new car is not a luxury car, it’s ordinary… if I want to buy it myself, I have money, I can buy two.

“It’s not very expensive, but the government has already bought it. Those who are jealous will buy it when they become the Menteri Besar,” he said.

Previously, the issue of the Korean-made Hyundai Palisade sports utility vehicle (SUV) priced between RM368,888 to RM399,888, which was used by Muhammad Sanusi with the registration number KCX8, went viral on social media.

Muhammad Sanusi said, the purchase of that type of car is based on his needs because it is more rugged and suitable for his tens of thousands of kilometers of travelling  a month.

“If you look at my movements as menteri besar, you cannot will give up and not follow. I travel tens of thousands of kilometers a month, so I have to have a tough car,” he said.

Menteri Besar Kedah menjelaskan bahawa dia menukar ke kereta baharu sebab yang lama selalu rosak. Menurutnya ia merupakan kereta untuk kegunaan rasmi.

Datuk Seri Muhammad Sanusi Md. Nor berkata, kos penyelenggaraan dan pembaikan kereta yang terlalu tinggi menyebabkan ia tidak lagi berbaloi untuk digunakan. Beliau juga berkata kerajaan negeri tidak pernah membeli kereta untuk kegunaan menteri besar sejak Mei 2020 dan beliau selama ini hanya menggunakan kereta yang dibeli oleh menteri besar terdahulu.

“Kedua-dua Mercedes-Benz lama itu pernah rosak tengah jalan, kadang-kadang senget sebelah, kadang-kadang terangkat sebab masalah suspensi.

“Jadi Mercedes ini bila sampai satu peringkat penggunaannya sudah tidak ekonomi lagi, tapi kita baiki juga sebab nampak macam masih elok dan setiap kali baiki kena sampai RM50,000.

“Kereta baharu (yang dibeli itu pun) bukan kereta mewah, biasa-biasa saja… kalau saya nak beli sendiri pun saya ada duit, dua buah boleh beli.

“Tak mahal sangat pun tapi dah kerajaan beli saya naik, pihak yang cemburu tunggu jadi menteri besar esok kamu beli (dan) naik,” katanya.

Sebelum ini tular di media sosial isu kenderaan utiliti sukan (SUV) buatan Korea Selatan jenis Hyundai Palisade yang berharga di antara RM368,888 hingga RM399,888, yang digunakan Muhammad Sanusi yang menggunakan nombor pendaftaran KCX8.

Muhammad Sanusi berkata, pembelian kereta jenis itu adalah berdasarkan keperluan kerana ia lebih lasak dan sesuai digunakan olehnya yang melakukan perjalanan puluhan ribu kilometer sebulan.

“Kalau tengok pergerakan saya sebagai menteri besar, tuan-tuan boleh mengalah tak boleh ikut. Sebulan berpuluh ribu kilometer perjalanan, jadi kena kereta yang lasak sikit,” katanya.

Suzuki akan kembali ke perlumbaan lasak (endurance) Suzuka 8 Hour (Suzuka 8 Jam), dengan satu perbezaan. Pengilang Jepun itu telah mengumumkan penarikan diri daripada sukan bermotor tetapi telah memutuskan untuk menyertai perlumbaan berprestij itu menggunakan bahan api mampan untuk jentera GSX-R1000 mereka.

Suzuka 8 Hour adalah sebahagian daripada kalendar Kejohanan FIM Endurance Dunia, yang turut menampilkan Kelas Eksperimen dalam perlumbaan. Kategori ini dikhaskan untuk motosikal yang tidak mematuhi norma kejuruteraan. Walau bagaimanapun, Suzuki GSX-R1000 untuk perlumbaan ini memang mematuhi norma tetapi akan menggunakan bahan api yang hanya sebahagiannya daripada asal bukan fosil.

Sebaliknya, kilang itu akan menggunakan bahanapi Elf Moto R40 FIM, yang terdiri daripada 40% bahan api sumber bio. Menariknya, pasukan Suzuki MotoGP telah mula menggunakan bahan api yang sama pada musim terakhir mereka dalam MotoGP 2022, seperti yang ditetapkan oleh FIM dan Dorna untuk kelas tersebut.

Bahan api itu nampaknya tidak menyebabkan sebarang pengurangan prestasi kerana beberapa motosikal adalah 14 saat lebih pantas dalam perlumbaan MotoGP 2024 pertama di Qatar, berbanding pada 2023.

Walaubagaimanapun, Suzuki masih belum mengesahkan barisan pelumba mereka. Pelumba lama mereka yang memenangi kejuaraan endurance, Sylvain Guintoli telah menandatangani dengan pasukan BMW Motorrad Motorsport WorldSBK sebagai pelumba ujian.

Suzuki akan menyertai perlumbaan di bawah sepanduk Team Suzuki CN Challenge, juga berpisah dengan rakan kongsi lama mereka Yoshimura SERT Motul Suzuki. Walau bagaimanapun, Yoshimura Jepun akan terus menjadi rakan kongsi teknikal dan berusaha menggunakan platform ini untuk membangunkan teknologi mampan dalam bidang peredam bunyi ekzos, tayar, minyak, fairing dan brek.

Suzuka 8 Hours 2024 dijadualkan pada 19 Julai 2024.

Suzuki returns to the Suzuka 8 Hour endurance race, albeit with a difference. The Japanese manufacturer had announced their departure from the sport but has decided to participate in the prestigious race using sustainable fuel for their GSX-R1000.

The Suzuka 8 Hour is part of the FIM Endurance World Championship calendar, and features an Experimental Class within the race. This category is meant for motorcycles that do not conform to engineering norms. However, the Suzuki GSX-R1000 for the race does conform to norms but will use a fuel that is only partly of non-fossil origin.

Instead, the factory will use the Elf Moto R40 FIM, which consists of 40% bio-sourced fuel. Interestingly, the Suzuki MotoGP team had begun using the fuel during their last season in the championship in 2022, as stipulated by FIM and Dorna for the class.

 

The fuel may does not seem to cause any drop in performance as demonstrated in the first 2024 MotoGP race in Qatar, where some bikes were 14 seconds faster than those in 2023.

Suzuki has not confirmed their rider lineup, as yet. Their long-time endurance championship winning rider, Sylvain Guintoli has since signed with the BMW Motorrad Motorsport WorldSBK team as a test rider.

Suzuki will enter the race under the Team Suzuki CN Challenge banner, also a departure from their long-time Yoshimura SERT Motul Suzuki partner. However, Yoshimura Japan will continue to be the factory’s technical partner and seeks to use the platform to develop sustainable technologies in areas such as the muffler, tyres, oil, fairings, and brakes.

The 2024 Suzuka 8 Hours is scheduled for 19 July 2024.

The decision to resume the search for MH370 will be known this May. The decision will be made after the meeting with Ocean Infinity.

Transport Minister Anthony Loke said he will personally meet with representatives of the seabed exploration firm to discuss the contract and the proposed search mission. His ministry has already made an appointment with Ocean Infinity for them to present a proposal.

The Ministry of Transport will then propose to the Cabinet after that.

Anthony Loke also emphasized that the search principle is “no find, no fee”. This proposal needs to be approved by the Cabinet because there are financial implications and promises if the plane is found.

Ocean Infinity previously searched the Indian Ocean from 2017 until the search mission was called off in 2018.

But in early March, the company based in Texas, United States claimed to have new scientific evidence about the final location of MH370.

Loke said that, so far, his side is waiting for a proposal from Ocean Infinity first, especially the focus of their search, before any decision is made.

Flight MH370 carrying 239 passengers and crew disappeared on a flight from Kuala Lumpur to Beijing on March 8, 2014, before it was announced to have ended up in the Indian Ocean.

Keputusan untuk menyambung kembali pencarian pesawat MH370 akan diketahui pada bulan Mei ini. Keputusan akan dibuat selepas pertemuan dengan Ocean Infinity.

Menteri Pengangkutan, Anthony Loke berkata, beliau sendiri akan bertemu dengan wakil firma penerokaan dasar laut itu bagi membincangkan mengenai kontrak dan cadangan misi pencarian itu. Kementeriannya sudah mengadakan temujanji dengan Ocean Infinity untuk mereka membentangkan cadangan.

Kementerian Pengangkutan akan membuat kertas cadang kepada Jemaah Menteri selepas itu.

Anthony Loke juga menegaskan bahawa prinsip pencarian adalah “tidak jumpa, tiada bayaran (no find, no fee). Cadangan ini perlu diluluskan oleh Kabinet kerana terdapat implikasi dan janjian kewangan jika terjumpanya pesawat.

Ocean Infinity pernah membuat pencarian di Lautan Hindi daripada 2017 sehingga misi pencarian diberhentikan pada 2018.

Namun pada awal Mac, syarikat berpangkalan di Texas, Amerika Syarikat (AS) itu mendakwa mempunyai bukti saintifik baharu mengenai lokasi terakhir pesawat MH370.

Loke berkata, setakat ini, pihaknya menunggu cadangan daripada Ocean Infinity terlebih dahulu, terutama fokus carian mereka barulah sebarang keputusan dibuat.

Pesawat MH370 yang membawa 239 penumpang dan anak kapal hilang ketika dalam penerbangan dari Kuala Lumpur ke Beijing pada 8 Mac 2014, sebelum ia diumumkan berakhir di Lautan Hindi.
