*WMOTO Bobbie VII

– PanduLaju

Yamaha, the Japanese multinational corporation, has announced a new investment fund in the United States.

  • Yamaha has established a new investment fund called Yamaha Motor Exploratory Fund, L.P. II with $100 million USD available for investment.
  • The fund will be used to explore technologies and opportunities that will expand Yamaha’s new business domains and enhance its competitive advantages.

Yamaha Motor Ventures (YMV) in Silicon Valley will be in charge of identifying companies that will benefit from Yamaha Motor’s new investment fund.

The new fund will be used to explore technologies and opportunities, which will expand the company’s new business domain and enhance its competitive advantages.

Yamaha’s “Medium Term Management Plan” from 2022 until 2024 aims to develop smaller businesses into “core businesses,” which will help Yamaha achieve its goal of securing a competitive edge.

The second Yamaha Motor Exploratory Fund was established in February 2023 and will last for ten years.

Yamaha’s target businesses for investment are startups with innovative technologies and ample business growth potential in the fields of transportation, robotics, data/AI, fintech/insurtech, and digital health and wellness.

While it is unclear what the new investment fund from Yamaha will lead to, the company’s interest in “data/AI” suggests its focus may be on developing self-driving technology for its motorcycles.

This new fund shows that Yamaha is committed to long-term investments that will allow it to stay ahead of its competitors.

Yamaha Motor Co Ltd has announced that it has reached an agreement with an aluminum ingot supplier to procure green aluminum, a new type of aluminum refined using renewable energy sources to emit less CO2 in its manufacture.

  • Yamaha to become the first Japanese motorcycle manufacturer to adopt green aluminium.
  • The new initiative is aligned with the company’s effort to promote sustainability.

The company has already begun using it as a raw material for parts in Yamaha motorcycles, marking the first time green aluminum has been used in Japanese motorcycles.

Yamaha Motor has been actively promoting the use of recycled aluminum, which now comprises some 80% of the company’s aluminum usage, through the development of its engineering and production technologies and expertise. Green aluminum will be employed for parts that still cannot be manufactured with recycled materials.

As a first step, Yamaha Motor will use green aluminum for certain parts in its large-displacement and off-road competition motorcycles, with plans to gradually expand its usage in other models as available supply volumes allow. The company is committed to switching to 100% sustainable materials by 2050, including adopting more plant-derived resin materials, developing recyclable polypropylene, and adopting green and other recycled materials for its motorcycles manufactured in Japan and overseas.

The introduction of green aluminum represents a significant milestone for Yamaha Motor and its efforts to achieve its environmental goals. The company’s commitment to sustainability and reducing its carbon footprint is a positive step towards a more sustainable future for the motorcycle industry.

Yamaha Europe has just announced the release of a new version of their popular adventure tourer motorcycle – the Yamaha Tenere 700 Extreme Edition.

  • The Tenere 700 Extreme Edition is heavily inspired by the Tenere 700 World Raid.
  • Powering the Tenere 700 Exterem Edition is the same 689cc liquid-cooled, inline twin-cylinder engine.

The new variant of the motorcycle is more off-road-ready than its predecessor, with changes to the chassis and suspension, among other features.

While the Yamaha Tenere 700 Extreme Edition shares many mechanical components with the previous model, updates to the chassis and suspension have been made to improve off-road capabilities.

The motorcycle now has fully adjustable KYB 43mm forks that provide an additional 20mm of travel, bringing the total to 230mm at the front. The rear shock has also been upgraded, with a 20mm increase in travel bringing it to 220mm.

Additionally, the overall height of the bike has been raised by 20mm to provide a total ground clearance of 260mm.

Other new features of the Yamaha Tenere 700 Extreme Edition include adjustable off-road titanium footpegs with bear trap grips, a high enduro-style mudguard, a radiator protector, and a single, enduro-style seat with 20mm more padding than the standard version.

However, the changes to the suspension and seat height bring the seat height to a towering 910mm.

That said, the Yamaha Tenere 700 Extreme Edition takes inspiration from the Yamaha World Raid model while adding its own accessories.

Yamaha has updated its YZF-R25 sportsbike with a trendy purple livery called Dark Blueish Purple Metallic.

  • The R25 gets new updated with new colour scheme in Japan.
  • Underpinnings of the quarter-litre sportsbike remains unchanged.

If you seen such colours before that’s because it is the same colour scheme introduced in the US for the YZF-R3.

Interestingly, the new colour not only look exciting but also gives the bike somewhat of a throwback of the old sportbikes from the 90s. Perhaps something from the 1994 FZR1000?

Thankfully, the out of place Vivid Orange Metallic introduced last year has been retired. However, if the purple is too much, you can opt for Deep Purplish Blue Metallic and Black Metallic instead.

Nevertheless, the 2023 R25 continue to offer the same bodywork and underpinnings.

Mechanically, the R25 feature s a 249cc parallel-twin, liquid-cooled engine that cranks out 35.5hp @ 12,000rpm and 30Nm @ 10,000rpm. That said, the quarter litre sportsbike  offers decent performance for both the city and twisty roads.

Monster Energy Yamaha has officially unveiled its latest livery ahead of the 2023 MotoGP season.

The official unveiling ceremony was done in Indonesia during Yamaha S3 Dealer Meeting.

Joining the glitzy event were Yamaha MotoGP team boss Lin Jarvis, Yamaha President Yoshihiro Hidaka, Yamaha MotoGP team director Massimo Meregalli and two lead rider, Fabio Quartararo and Franco Morbidelli.

While the Yamaha M1 still features Yamaha’s iconic blue, the fairing and nose cone of the 2023 race bike now features a distinctive dazzle-camo paint scheme.

According to Yamaha the 2023 livery is designed by legendary helmet designer, Aldo Drudi.

“I always felt our previous bike was the most beautiful and clean in the racing world, but now you will notice it’s a little bit more aggressive.

“A little bit younger. You can see some camouflage feel and this is not by accident. The [livery] has been designed by one of the top designers in our world, Aldo Drudi in Italy, and the idea is to be aggressive.

“We are going to battle! We are going to war! We are going to challenge!,” said Jarvis.

Also, the same design will be applied to every official Monster Yamaha team as confirmed by Jarvis.

“You will also see later this week a similar [livery] design in Supercross and Motocross. So this is a Monster Yamaha new look and feel,” he added.

Meanwhile, Quartararo will not only begin the new season with a new livery, the Frenchman will also donned the all-new HJC RPHA 1 race helmet.

  • The new EZ115 is aimed at who value practicality and convenience.
  • But it also boasts performance, there’s a one-make series in CubPrix being planned.
  • Priced at RM5,598, other underbone makers should be worried.

Hong Leong Yamaha Motor kicked off 2023 with the launch of a new underbone motorcycle, the Euro-4 compliant Yamaha EZ115.

Yamaha says the new EZ115 boasts features that promise better performance and easier utility for any lifestyle need. And it is not difficult to see why Yamaha would be so confident to release such a statement.

At the core of the new Yamaha ‘kapcai’ is a single-cylinder 114cc engine that puts out 8.7PS at 7,000rpm and 9.5Nm of torque at 5,500rpm. This is good enough for anyone’s day to day utility usage.

And it’s quite economical to run too, with a fuel tank that measures in at just 3.9-litres, that will cost just RM7 to fill up.

But the true nature of the Yamaha EZ115 is in the convenience that the bike has to offer. The EZ115 offers a large headlight for clearer nighttime visibility, an ECO light indicator that will allow the rider to keep an eye on his riding style to maximise fuel consumption, and more importantly, there’s decent under-seat storage for any grocery runs.

Yamaha though has full confidence in the performance of the bike and will be organising a one-make race series.

“To demonstrate the exemplary performance and capabilities of the Yamaha EZ115, we will be having a one-make-race with this model in the 2023 Malaysian CubPrix race. We hope to show everyone the potential of this new motorcycle, and what Yamaha’s new model can do,” said Dato Dr Jim Khor, Group Managing Director, Hong Leong Industries Berhad.

The all-new Yamaha EZ115 comes in three colours: Red, Blue and Cyan. The new EZ115 will be available at all authorised outlets beginning today (January 16th, 2023) at a recommended retail price of RM5,598 excluding registration fees and insurance coverage.

Like us, you probably have the same fondness towards iconic retro machines.

  • Unit Garage introduced new classic kit for Yamaha’s Tenere 700.
  • The custom kit takes inspiration from the iconic 1986 Yamaha Tenere XT 600.

The same reason why some manufacturers are going down memory lane seeking design inspiration for modern machines.

Ducati took the same path recently by introducing the DesertX, which is inspired by the classic Cagiva Elefant motorcycle competing at the 80s and 90s Paris-Dakar Rally.

As a result, the DesertX quickly established its popularity, especially among adventure-seeking riders.

However, if you’re also into off-roading and, by chance, own the Yamaha Tenere 700, you too can own a motorcycle inspired by classic retro machines, particularly the 1986 Yamaha Tenere 600 XT.

Thanks to the Italian company, Unit Garage, Tenere 700 owners can now convert their bikes to look like the Tenere XT 600.

The custom kit includes the iconic Yamaha blue design, beaked front fender, retro round LED lights, headlight screens and an aluminium skid plate.

The conversion kit is also available in black and a no-paint colour scheme.

Interestingly, the kit can be mounted directly onto the factory mounts of the Tenere 700, making it easier to install.

According to the information available on the company’s website, the classic kit is available from GBP1233.80 (RM6,500).

New rumours have emerged in Japan suggesting that a three-cylinder fully-faired sportsbike based on the Yamaha MT-09 is set to arrive in 2024.

  • Japanese publication, Autoby claimed that Yamaha to release the R9 in 2024.
  • The R9 will feature the same CP3 engine found in the MT-09.

The rumour has been ongoing since the introduction of the R7 in 2022, but the demise of the road-legal R6 is what initiated the demand for a fully-faired machine.

The arrival of the R9 was also handed to us by Yamaha’s trademark application of the R9 nameplate, suggesting that a CP3-wielding sportsbike is on its way.

However, the latest report from the Japanese publication, Autoby suggests that the motorcycle will arrive in the lineup in 2024.

Accompanying the report is a set of render images explaining how the R9 could turn out.

As expected, the upcoming R9 will likely borrow much of its features from the MT-09, including the aluminium beam frame and swingarm.

The R9 is also likely equipped with the same suspension setup and braking components as the MT-09.

Also likely to be carried over is the full-colour TFT instrument cluster and electronic package.

Similar to the MT-09, the R9 is expected to make 117hp @ 10,000rpm and 93Nm @ 7,000rpm.

According to Autoby, the R9 is set for release in 2024, with the bike making its first appearance at EICMA 2023.
