  • The new Triumph Rocket III has been spied testing.

  • A new 2500- to 2800cc, 180- to 200 bhp engine is expected.

  • The new bike looks more modern and aggressive.

We reported earlier that a new Triumph Rocket III may be on the way. It is now confirmed as the prototype has been caught testing without camouflage.

Triumph was forced to stop production of the previous Rocket III due to Euro4 regulations. It is still being sold in the United States, however.

Possible New Triumph Rocket III Leaked

As with the leaked photo, the new bike features a new styling. The new design updates the Rocket from a classic to a thoroughbred power cruiser. Triumph had wanted to compete with the Ducati Diavel and Harley-Davidson V-Rod, so the new look is in the ballpark.

What We Can See from the Photos

The new Rocket III prototype seems ready for production.

The engine cylinder head cover looks new, but the starkest detail are the exhausts. There is a new 3-into-1-into-2 piping with slash-cut tips.

The engine definitely looks bigger and the capacity should see between 2500 to 2800cc. As such, we expect the power output to fall between 180 to 200 bhp.

The frame also appears to be new. As for the chassis, there is now a rear monoshock while the forks are upside down. Final drive is still shaft drive but the swingarm is now single-sided. Radial-mounted Brembo Monobloc calipers clamp on superbike discs.

In the styling department, the dual headlamps are retained but they are now LED. The taillight has been redesigned and it is also lit by LEDs. Besides that, the new bike looks beefier and more aggressive than its forebear.

If you look closer at the top of the handlebar, you can see the new TFT display which first appeared on the 2019 Scrambler 1200. In which case it ought to feature Bluetooth connectivity and GoPro camera controls.

One last note. We would love to see people’s reactions when we tell them the engine capacity is 2500cc/2800cc.

Triumph Motorcycles are definitely on a roll in debuting many exciting models in a short space of time. The Triumph Thruxton R TFC is the next model being tested on the road.

In October, Triumph launched the 2019 Street Twin and 2019 Street Scrambler at Intermot, followed by the new Scrambler 1200 during the Global Dealer Conference (GDC) in London. It was during the conference that the manufacturer laid out their plans to introduce additional models in 2019. The new bikes included the 2019 Speed Twin (launched in early December), new 180-bhp Rocket III and this, the Thruxton R TFC.

The Thruxton R TFC is part of the Triumph Factory Custom range. The range consists of limited edition, flagship bikes. The TFC Bobber and Scrambler show bikes were first revealed in 2014.

The Thruxton R TFC features a hotted-up Hi-Power 1200cc parallel-Twin engine. The use of titanium Vance & Hines exhausts and remapped ECU raises its power from 96 bhp to 106 bhp.

In the chassis department, Öhlins NIX 30 forks replace the Showa BPFs. It should create an even better pairing with the Öhlins dual shocks currently in place. The Brembo front brake calipers will have the fluid pumped into them by a Brembo radial master cylinder. If that’s not racy enough, the Thruxton R TFC will wear Metzeler Racetec RR tyres.

Triumph has also pared nearly 5kg off the bike’s weight.

The Thruxton R TFC will be fitted with a carbon-fibre “bullet” fairing as standard. Only 750 examples will be built. Lucky owners can stare at the production number on the billet top triple clamp.

We named the Thruxton R as the funnest café racer we’ve tested. The TFC should be even better!

  • Triumph Motorcycles maintains the Number 1 position as a Western big bike maker in Thailand.

  • The manufacturer managed the feat despite an overall downturn in the Thai motorcycle market.

  • Triumph Motorcycles Thailand remains optimistic as the next two months usually mark high demand.

Triumph Motorcycles is still the best-selling Western motorcycle brand above 400cc in Thailand.

The British brand sold a total of 2,175 units by end-October despite a downturn which impacted all brands.

The number represents a 14.7% drop year-on-year, the first for Triumph since its entry into the market. Yet, the brand beat out other western brands by a large margin in total sales. In second place is BMW which has sold 1,226 units thus far, followed by Ducati with 709 units, and Harley-Davidson with 695.

The country’s general manager Jakkrapong Santirat remains upbeat, however. “But we are confident sales will improve over the two remaining months as the fourth quarter is the high season for motorcycles.”

Santirat cited a number of reasons for the drop. The country’s entire big bike market had shrunk due to lower purchasing power of the Thais. Additionally, potential buyers hesitated to purchase big bikes while current owners are still servicing their loans. Financial institutions have also tightened their approvals for loans.

Thailand’s Land Transport Department reported a total of 1.506 million new motorcycle registration, a decrease of 1.4% year-on-year.

We had the pleasure of visiting Triumph’s manufacturing facilities in Thailand in 2016, courtesy of Triumph Motorcycles Malaysia.

Triumph was the first Western big bike manufacturer to enter the kingdom. The first factory was opened in May 2002, producing components such as frames, fuel tanks, headers, swingarms, engine covers and chrome-plated parts.

The second Thai factory opened in 2006, complete with a painting facility and assembly line. Finally, the third plant opened in 2007 with high-pressure die casting and machining facilities. All factories are located in the Amata City Industrial Estate in Chon Buri. The three facilities have a combined investment of THB 3 billion.

A workforce of 1,100 workers produce some 80,000 bikes a year. The motorcycles are shipped to 57 countries afterwards. The number represents 65 to 70% of Triumph’s worldwide sales.

  • Triumph telah memuat naik satu lagi video usikan bagi model Triumph Scrambler 1200 2019.

  • Triumph has released another 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200 teaser video.

  • It shows the bike being ridden on the road and off-road.

  • The launch happens on 24th October 2018 (UK time).

The countdown has begun to the launch of the 2019 Triumph Scrambler 1200.

Triumph Motorcycles has also released another teaser video, the fifth and perhaps the last, ahead of the grand event.

This latest video also showcases the versatility of the new bike. There are shots of it being ridden two-up on a tarmac road besides being pushed hard off-road.

Triumph was one of the leaders of off-road racing in the 60’s. The new Scrambler 1200 would return it to its off-road legacy with the promise of “never before seen levels of dual-purpose capability.” Indeed, the video shows the 1200 scrambling in the dirt; with the dust hiding the bike, of course.

Piecing together all the teaser videos revealed a little bit more about the bike. It will definitely feature the classic Triumph Bonneville silhouette, straight handlebar, flat saddle and high-mounted dual exhausts. It will be similar to its smaller 900cc Street Scrambler, but we are sure there will be many other differences to make it off-road worthy.

The Scrambler 1200 may even come ready with an underbelly skid plate and knobby tyres.

Its engine should very well be based on the High Torque (HT) version of the 1200cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-Twin with 270o crank.

We could also very well expect traction control, ride-by-wire throttle, ABS and LED lighting. The suspension will definitely be updated.

The launch is happening on early morning, 25th October 2018 (Malaysian time). Bikes Republic hopes to bring you the event “live.” If you can stay up for the English Premier League, you ought to stay up for the launch, too.
