A police Corporal was arrested for causing the death of a motorcycle-riding teenager. This viral case happened on the first night of Hari Raya Aidilfitri in Melaka.

In the video, several motorcycles were seen moving from one direction. Suddenly, a Police 4-wheel drive vehicle was seen coming from the opposite direction as if it was chasing some motorbikes, and crossed the intersection in a hurry. This rash move caused the victim’s motorcycle to crash into the vehicle and the victim was thrown from his motorcycle.

The victim was taken to Malacca Hospital, but died later.

Melaka Police Chief, Datuk Zainol Samah, informed that the Corporal who is one of the Durian Tunggal Police Station’s crime prevention patrol was arrested at the Alor Gajah District Police Headquarters (IPD) Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division Office at 9am this morning (April 12).

He said, the police are currently waiting for the reaction and cooperation from the 37-year-old Corporal.

“A preliminary urine screening test was also carried out and the result was that the member was free of any drug abuse,” he said.

Datuk Zainol added that his party has received six reports so far about the incident and three recordings of conversations from witnesses and victim’s family members have been completed.

He said the case was reclassified in accordance with Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 due to the offense of driving causing death.

“If convicted, this act provides for a minimum prison sentence of five years and a maximum of 10 years and a fine of not less than RM20,000 to RM50,000,” he said.

He hopes that the public who have any information about the incident can contact the head of traffic investigation and enforcement, IPD Alor Gajah on 06-5563222 to assist in investigations.

The Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT – Jabatan Siasatan dan Penguatkuasaan Trafik) of the Royal Malaysian Police has begun publishing daily road accident statistics, starting from Thursday, 14th March 2024. It is a move highlighted by the Malaysian Transport Minister a while ago.

Director of the Bukit Aman Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department, Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Saperi said there were 1,999 cases of road accidents that resulted in 12 deaths last Thursday.

Statistics for Friday, March 15, 2024 decreased by 121 cases to 1,878 cases. However, the number of deaths increased to 16 cases.

“The release of statistical data to the public is a step to increase the awareness of road users and the public how serious accidents are every day,” he said in a statement yesterday (Friday).

The police also called for all road users to always follow the rules and ensure that road laws are obeyed. He explained that cooperation from the public is expected to further increase awareness of the importance of maintaining safety and thus reduce the rate of road accidents.”

Note from the author: The numbers are still at an alarming level, as on average, there were 83.3 and 78.3 accidents per hour on Thursday and Friday respectively. In terms of deaths, the daily average was 1 every 2 hours on Thursday, and 2 every 3 hours on Friday.

One Motorcyclist Dies every Two Hours

Jabatan Siasatan dan Penguatkuasaan Trafik (JSPT) telah mula menyiarkan angka kemalangan jalan raya dan kematian harian bermula Khamis, 14 Mac 2024. Ia merupakan langkah yang selaras dengan pengumuman Menteri Pengangkutan Malaysia tidak lama dahulu.

Pengarah Jabatan Siasatan dan Penguatkuasaan Trafik (JSPT) Bukit Aman, Datuk Mohd Azman Ahmad Saperi berkata, terdapat sebanyak 1,999 kes kemalangan jalan raya yang menyebabkan 12 kematian pada Khamis lepas.

Statistik untuk Jumaat, 15 Mac 2024 pula menurun sebanyak 121 kes kepada 1,878 kes. Namun, jumlah yang maut meningkat kepada 16 kes.

“Penyiaran data statistik kepada umum ini sebagai langkah meningkatkan kesedaran pengguna jalan raya dan orang ramai betapa seriusnya kes kemalangan setiap hari,” katanya dalam kenyataan semalam (Jumaat).

PDRM turut menyeru agar semua pengguna jalan raya sentiasa mengikut peraturan yang telah ditetapkan dan memastikan undang-undang jalan raya dipatuhi. Jelasnya, kerjasama daripada orang ramai diharap dapat meningkatkan lagi kesedaran terhadap kepentingan menjaga keselamatan sekali gus mengurangkan kadar kemalangan jalan raya.

Nota daripada pengarang: Angka-angka tersebut masih pada tahap yang membimbangkan, kerana secara puratanya, terdapat 83.3 dan 78.3 kemalangan setiap jam masing-masing pada Khamis dan Jumaat. Daripada segi kematian pula, purata harian ialah 1 setiap 2 jam pada Khamis, dan 2 setiap 3 jam pada Jumaat.

Seorang Penunggang Motosikal Maut setiap 2 Jam

The Johor Police are investigating two traffic cops suspected of extorting money from Singaporeans in an incident at Bangunan Sultan Iskandar on March 10.

The state police chief, Commissioner M. Kumar, said his party detected a viral video on social media Facebook uploaded by the name Irene Teo on the ‘Sage‘ page. The video was then also shared by several other sites including the popular Facebook site, MY SG Road Trip – Your Malaysia Road Trip Guide.

“The police have confirmed that they are conducting an investigation against two traffic police officers who are believed to have committed extortion following the sharing of two videos on Facebook, yesterday.

“The video was also commented on through an article uploaded by the Mothership website dated March 11,” he said in a media statement today.

He said that through the post that went viral, it is believed that the poster ‘Irene Teo’ was instructed to pay a sum of RM600 to the two traffic police members at BSI to avoid being sued.”

According to Irene Teo, they said they only had RM500 and not enough RM600 as requested. The policeman replied, “RM500 is ok too.”

“The victim is said to have committed an offense by entering the lorry lane at check point 8A towards Johor Bahru to Singapore on March 10, at about 8.15pm,” he said.

However, according to Irene again and as in the video, it was the policeman who ordered them to drive into the lorry lane.

He said the investigation was carried out in accordance with Section 384 of the Penal Code for extortion.

“However, we have not yet received any report made by the victim regarding the incident and an official request was made to the Singapore Consulate Office in Johor Bahru for help locating the Facebook owner ‘Sage’ and the poster ‘Irene Teo’ to assist the investigation,” he said.

Polis Johor sedang menjalankan siasatan ke atas dua orang anggota trafik yang disyaki memeras wang daripada warga Singapura dalam satu kejadian di Bangunan Sultan Iskandar pada 10 Mac lalu.

Ketua Polis negeri, Komisioner M. Kumar, berkata pihaknya mengesan video tular di media sosial Facebook yang dimuat naik penama Irene Teo dalam halaman ‘Sage‘. Video tersebut kemudiannya juga dikongsi oleh beberapa laman yang lain termasuklah laman Facebook yang popular, MY SG Road Trip – Your Malaysia Road Trip Guide.

“Pihak polis mengesahkan sedang menjalankan siasatan terhadap dua anggota polis trafik yang dipercayai melakukan pemerasan berikutan tular dua hantaran video di Facebook, semalam.

“Hantaran video itu turut diulas melalui artikel yang dimuat naik oleh laman sesawang Mothership bertarikh 11 Mac lalu,” katanya dalam kenyataan media hari ini.

Beliau berkata, melalui hantaran yang tular itu dipercayai penama ‘Irene Teo’ diarahkan untuk membayar wang sejumlah RM600 kepada kedua-dua anggota polis trafik di BSI bagi mengelakkan tindakan saman diambil.”

Menurut Irene Teo, mereka berkata mereka hanya ada RM500 dan tidak cukup RM600 seperti yang diminta. Anggota polis tersebut menjawab, “RM500 is ok too (Pun cukup lah).”


“Mangsa dikatakan melakukan kesalahan masuk ke laluan lori di kawasan check point 8A arah Johor Bahru ke Singapura pada 10 mac lalu, kira-kira jam 8.15 malam,” katanya.

Namun, menurut Irene lagi dan seperti di dalam video, anggota polis tersebutlah yang mengarahkan mereka memandu ke dalam laluan lori.

Beliau berkata, siasatan dijalankan mengikut Seksyen 384 Kanun Keseksaan kerana melakukan pemerasan.

“Bagaimanapun, setakat ini kita masih belum menerima sebarang laporan dibuat oleh mangsa berhubung insiden itu dan permohonan rasmi dibuat ke Pejabat Konsulat Singapura di Johor Bahru untuk bantuan mengesan pemilik Facebook ‘Sage’ dan penama ‘Irene Teo’ bagi membantu siasatan,” katanya.

The police have arrested a motorcyclist who deliberately hit another vehicle and caused an accident in order to be able to claim compensation.

The 41-year-old unemployed man was arrested at a house in Changkat Bukit Gambir, Gelugor, Penang.

North East District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Razlam Ab Hamid said, further review found that the suspect has 13 previous records, five involving crimes and eight related to drug cases.

“We have completed the investigation papers and submitted them to the Deputy Public Prosecutor (TPR) for further action.

“Following that, we received instructions to charge the suspect in court this Thursday according to Section 384 of the Penal Code,” he said when contacted today.

Section 384 of the Penal Code is the law regarding the offence of extortion.

Last Sunday, a photo and video went viral on social media showing a motorcyclist who deliberately hitting a car before claiming that the fault was caused by the owner of the vehicle involved. He then asked for damages ranging from RM20 to RM60 from the car owner on the grounds that his side mirror was broken due to the incident.

Police Hunts Man who Causes Accidents to Claim Money

Polis sudah berjaya memberkas penunggang motosikal yang sengaja melanggar kenderaan lain dan mencetuskan kemalangan agar dapat meminta want gantirugi.

Lelaki berusia 41 tahun yang seorang penganggur ditahan sebuah rumah di Changkat Bukit Gambir, Gelugor, Pulau Pinang.

Ketua Polis Daerah Timur Laut, Asisten Komisioner Razlam Ab Hamid berkata, semakan lanjut mendapati suspek mempunyai 13 rekod lampau iaitu lima membabitkan jenayah manakala lapan berkaitan kes dadah.

“Kita sudah lengkapkan kertas siasatan serta serah kepada Timbalan Pendakwa Raya (TPR) bagi tindakan lanjut.

“Susulan itu, kita terima arahan bagi mendakwa suspek di mahkamah pada Khamis ini mengikut Seksyen 384 Kanun Keseksaan,” katanya ketika dihubungi hari ini.

Seksyen 384 Kanun Keseksaan ialah undang-undang berkenaan kesalahan memeras ugut.

Ahad lalu, satu gambar dan video tular di media sosial memaparkan seorang lelaki yang menunggang motosikal sengaja melanggar sebuah kereta sebelum mendakwa kesalahan itu berpunca daripada pemilik kenderaan terbabit. Dia kemudiannya meminta ganti rugi antara RM20 hingga RM60 daripada pemilik kereta dengan alasan cermin sisinya patah akibat insiden berkenaan.

Polis Buru Lelaki Sengaja Sebabkan Kemalangan, Minta Wang

Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) telah menahan pengasas bersama sebuah syarikat penerbangan tempatan berpangkat Datuk, pada Selasa. 

Lelaki berusia 57 tahun itu telah ditahan bersama isteri, 55 dan anak lelaki, 26 tahun di kediaman mereka di Shah Alam. 

Menurut Pengarah Jabatan Siasatan Jenayah Komersil (JSJK) Bukit Aman, Datuk Seri Ramli Mohamed Yoosuf, ketiga-tiga individu berkenaan ditahan bagi membantu siasatan di bawah Akta Pencegahan Pengubahan Wang Haram, Pencegahan Pembiayaan Keganasan dan Hasil Daripada Aktiviti Haram 2001.

Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) sedang mencari penunggang motosikal yang didapati bukan sahaja melawan arus malah turut menyebabkan kematian seorang penunggang motosikal berkuasa tinggi dalam satu kejadian yang berlaku di susur Hulu Klang, Lebuh Raya Sungai Besi-Ulu Kelang (SUKE), hari ini. 

Mangsa yang menunggang motosikal jenis Ducati, hilang kawalan ekoran berselisih dengan seorang penunggang motosikal yang melawan arus lalu terbabas sebelum melanggar penghadang jalan sebelah kiri dan tercampak ke bawah. 

Memetik laporan Kosmo, Ketua Polis Daerah Ampang Jaya, Asisten Komisioner Mohd Azam Ismail mengesahkan mangsa meninggal dunia di tempat kejadian ekoran daripada kecederaan serius. 

“Secara tiba-tiba, di hadapan mangsa didatangi sebuah motosikal dari arah bertentang di bahu sebelah kanan jalan. 

“Justeru, penunggang motosikal Ducati yang cuba untuk mengelak kenderaan dari arah bertentangan berkenaan terus melanggar penghadang sebelah kiri jalan,” jelasnya. 

Akibat daripada perlanggaran tersebut, mangsa telah terhumban ke bawah pada ketinggian 30 meter. 

Dalam pada itu, rakaman kejadian tersebut turut tular di media sosial dan mencetuskan rasa marah orang ramai terhadap penunggang motosikal yang melawan arus tersebut. – Kosmo

In a timely move to address the rising concern of high-speed riding, PDRM  has introduced a special operations focusing on individuals riding high-powered motorcycles. 

The ‘Op Khas Motosikal Berkuasa Tinggi’ is an initiative aims to crack down on reckless and dangerous behaviour on the roads, according to Deputy Director Mohd Nasri Omar of PDRM’s JSPT Bukit Aman.

Acknowledging the prevalence of motorcyclists exceeding speed limits, Deputy Director Mohd Nasri emphasized that JSPT will prioritise monitoring those who operate high-powered bikes during the special ops. 

To ensure effective enforcement, JSPT will collaborate with other prominent agencies such as the Road Transport Department (JPJ) and the National Anti-Drugs Agency (AADK). This strategic partnership will enable a comprehensive approach in combating reckless riding, emphasizing not only the safety aspect but also the prevention of potential drug-related offenses linked to the motorcycle community.

Offenders found guilty of reckless riding may face charges under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. If convicted, they could be sentenced to a maximum of five years in prison and fined between RM5,000 and RM15,000.

Mengambil maklum tentang aktiviti menungang motosikal berkuasa tinggi di jalan raya, Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) akan melaksanakan operasi khas seluruh negara mensasarkan kumpulan tersebut. 

Perkara itu disahkan Timbalan Pengarah Jabatan Siasatan dan Penguatkuasaan Trafik (JSPT) Bukit Aman, Deputi Komisioner Mohd Nasri Omar. 

“Sebagai langkah pencegahan, JSPT akan mengadakan Op Khas Motosikal Berkuasa Tinggi di seluruh negara yang mana tumpuan akan diberikan kepada penunggang yang melakukan kesalahan lalu lintas.

Umum mengetahui motosikal menjadi penyumbang tertinggi kemalangan jalan raya iaitu lebih 55 peratus berbanding kenderaan lain,” jelasnya. 

Oleh demikian, JSPT akan memberi fokus pada motosikal berkuasa tinggi dalam Op Khas kali ini. 

Dalam pada itu, Mohd Nasri juga menasihatkan penunggang motosikal berkuasa tinggi untuk mematuhi undang-undang dan berhemah di jalan raya. – Sinar Harian

Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) telah mengeluarkan 14,514 saman pelbagai kesalahan dari 18 hingga 25 April ketika Op Motosikal yang dijalankan sempena Aidilfitri 2023. 

Sepanjang operasi tersebut dijalankan, sebanyak 500 motosikal turut diita atas pelbagai kesalahan. 

Perkara itu disahkan Pengarah Kanan Bahagian Penguatkuasa JPJ, Datuk Lokman Jamaan. Jelasnya, sebanyak 51,039 motosikal telah diperiksa dan tindakan sitaan dibuat setelah didapati tiada perlindungan insurans, lesen memandu dan lain-lain di seluruh negara. 

Sementara itu, tiada lesen memandu merekodkan kesalahan tertinggi dengan  4,583 notis dikeluarkan diikuti cukai jalan tamat tempoh (2,600 saman), tiada insurans (2,364 saman), lesen memandu tamat tempoh (168 saman), tidak memakai topi keledar (160 saman) dan tidak mematuhi peraturan lampu isyarat (120 saman). 

Dalam pada itu, JPJ turut menjalankan advokasi di setiap lokasi operasi dalam usaha meminiumkan kadar kemalangan dan kemalangan maut di musim perayaan. 

“Dipohon kerjasama pengguna jalan raya khususnya penunggang dan pembonceng motosikal untuk sentiasa mematuhi undang-undang dan peraturan jalan raya serta bertoleransi bersama pengguna jalan raya yang lain demi keutamaan keselamatan ketika di jalan raya,” jelas Datuk Lokman Jamaan. – BERNAMA
