Red Bull KTM Ajo Moto2 rider, Augusto Fernandez has signed with GASGAS Factory Racing for the 2023 MotoGP season.

The 25-year-old from Mallorca will teamed up with fellow Spaniard, Pol Espargaro at the newly formed MotoGP team next season.

The announcement will definitely boost the riders effort in Moto2 this season as he currently leads the championship standing with 198 points. 

“Wow, this is amazing: to be able to make the jump to MotoGP with GASGAS. 

“I want to thank everyone in the racing structure for all their support since I signed with the Red Bull KTM Ajo team last year. 

“I’m really happy. It’s a dream. We still have work to do in Moto2 and I want to go for the title and go to the MotoGP class – and this next challenge – in the best possible way,” he said. 

Meanwhile, GASGAS Factory Racing Team principal, Herve Poncharal admitted that he’s a fan of the rider for two years now.

“I have been following Augusto for a few seasons now and we already discussed moving up to the higher class two years ago but he was not ready yet for the big jump. 

“When we met again recently, it appeared very clear that he was prepared to come to MotoGP. 

I am excited about next season because our garage will have a mix of experience and youth through Pol and Augusto. 

“They are both Spanish and will work in a positive and constructive way and this is what we have been looking for. 

“Welcome to MotoGP Augusto, keep calm and focus on your Moto2 championship. We will be waiting for you in our garage on Tuesday following the Valencia GP for your first MotoGP test,” he said. 

Grid MotoGP bagi musim 2023 akhirnya lengkap dengan pasukan GASGAS mengumumkan Augusto Fernandez sebagai pelumba rasmi pasukan itu musim depan.

Fernandez, yang ketika ini mendahului kejuaraan dunia Moto2 mewakili pasukan Red Bull KTM Ajo, akan digandingkan bersama Pol Espargaro, musim depan. 

Pelumba Sepanyol itu mempamerkan prestasi cemerlang di Moto2 musim ini selepas merekodkan empat kemenangan setakat ini.

“Ini adalah sesuatu yang mengagumkan, dapat melangkah ke kelas premier bersama GASGAS.

“Saya mahu berterima kasih kepada semua yang memberi sokongan sejak saya sertai Red Bull KTM Ajo tahun lalu.

“Ini adalah impian saya,” jelas pelumba berusia 25 tahun itu.

Bagaimanapun, Fernandez akan terus bertarung untuk mengekalkan status pendahulu kejuaraan dunia Moto2 di GP Aragon pada Ahad.

Yamaha dengan rasminya mengumumkan juara dunia Moto2 musim lalu, Remy Gardner akan sertai projek Kejuaraan Superbike Dunia (WorldSBK) bagi musim 2023.

Menurut Yamaha, Gardner akan menggantikan tempat Garret Gerloff di pasukan GRT Yamaha WorldSBK. 

Pengumuman tersebut turut menjelaskan bahawa Gardner telah menandatangani kontrak bersama Yamaha. 

Bagaimanapun, ekoran masih terikat dengan KTM di MotoGP musim ini, kenyataan rasmi tersebut tidak disertakan dengan komen daripada pelumba Australia itu.

Namun, Pengurus Yamaha Motor Europe Road Racing, Andrea Dosoli, berkongsi keterujaan atas kejayaan menambat bakat muda itu.

“Remy merupakan bakat muda yang mengujakan dan mempunyai karier cemerlang di perlumbaan GP. 

“Kami sangat berbesar hati kerana dapat memiliki pelumba yang berpengalaman beraksi di pentas tertinggi.

“Kami percaya dia calon sesuai untuk program WorldSBK Yamaha dan kami tidak sabar untuk melihat kemampuannya menunggang jentera R1 kami,” jelasnya.

Gardner sebelum ini dicanang akan menjadi rakan pasukan Pol Espargaro di Tech3 GASGAS sebelum KTM membuat pusingan ‘U’ dan memilih calon lain. 

KTM juga mendakwa Gardner sebagai tidak profesional meskipun belum sampai setahun pelumba itu bersama KTM di kelas premier. 

Ekoran ketiadaan tempat di MotoGP musim depan, keputusan berhijrah ke WorldSBK merupakan satu-satunya peluang untuk dia terus beraksi di pentas tertinggi. 

GASGAS officially unveiled the all-new GASGAS RX 450F Replica for 2023.

As mentioned a few weeks ago, the RX 450F Replica is based on the firm’s 2022 Dakar-winning race bike ridden by Sam Sunderland Daniel Sanders.

According to GASGAS, the RX 450F Replica is the closest thing you’re going to get to the actual motorcycle.

As predicted, the GASGAS RX 450F Replica is fundamentally the same as KTM’s 450 Rally Replica albeit some minor changes including colours and front fender.

However, the RX 450F Replica is fitted with WP Xplor Pro 7548 front fork and 7750 rear shock while the KTM is suspended by a XACT pro front fork and rear shock.

Nevertheless, the RX 450F Replica features the  shares the same 450cc SOHC single-cylinder engine powering the GASGAS MC 450F racebike.

Other notable features include:

  • red Supersprox Stealth rear sprocket

Braking is regulated by Brembo brakes with the bike running on Continental TKC 80 tires with black anodized EXCEL rims. 

Remy Gardner was on the verge of teaming up with Pol Espargaro at the newly launched Tec3 GASGAS MotoGP team for the 2023 season.

However, KTM looks set to dump the Australian rider amid talks that Team Orange is closing on a deal to retain Miguel Oliveira. 

On Friday, Gardner told Crash.net that he was surprised by KTM Director Pit Beirer’s comment on Oliveira’s future, saying that ‘there is also still a chance to keep our friend Miguel (Oliveira) inside the family’. Hinting the GASGAS seat for 2023. 

“No, it’s not [looking great for next year],” Crash.net reports. 

“In MotoGP, it doesn’t look like there’s anything… KTM’s done it again!” said Gardner. 

That said, Oliveira could be named as Espargaro’s teammate at GASGAS, while Gardner and his current teammate, Raul Fernandez, could face the axe at the end of the season.

While Fernandez’s move to RNF Aprilia MotoGP team is almost sure to happen – with an official announcement to be made at Misano – Gardner’s future is still in doubt.

Nevertheless, if KTM does pursue Oliveira’s signature in what could be a surprise u-turn, RNF Aprilia might be interested in offering both Fernandez and Gardner for the 2023 seat.

Moreover, Razlan’s already confirmed that the two slots will be given to current premier class riders, with Fernandez remained the top of his wish list for 2023.

That said, if Oliveira turned down KTM’s approach – as the Portuguese is also heavily linked with RNF – Gardner’s spot at GASGAS is still not safe with speculation also linking its Moto2 title contender Augusto Fernandez. 

KTM could introduce the next generation KTM 200 Duke as the motorcycle was recently spotted testing in India.

The next-gen 200 Duke should retain the same 199.5cc liquid-cooled, single-cylinder engine that makes 25.4hp and 19.5Nm.

However, KTM could likely implement minor tweaks to the engine without necessarily changing the power output.

Looking at the spy shot, it is clear that the new 200 Duke features a more aggressive silhouette with the addition of a full-LED split headlight and a new bodywork. We also noticed slight changes done to the subframe.

While the front USD forks appear similar to the current model, the monoshock is now offset. Also, the brake disc appears bigger, with the rims sharing similarities with the new RC 390.

In addition, the test mule is also fitted with a larger fully-digital LCD instrument cluster.

No words on when we could expect the new KTM 200 Duke to make its global introduction, but the announcement will likely be made soon. 

Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) dalam satu pengumuman telah membenarkan semua jenis basikal untuk menaiki perkhidmatan KTM Komuter.

Kebenaran tersebut telah pun bermula pada 6 Ogos lalu dengan tiada sebarang caj dikenakan pada waktu tertentu. 

Ketua Pegawai Operasi KTMB, Mohd Zain Mat Taha berkata pihaknya sebelum ini mengenakan caj RM2 kepada pengguna yang membawa basikal.

Sejak 18 April lalu, tiada lagi sebarang caj dikenakan namun pada waktu itu hanya basikal jenis ‘folding bike’ (basikal lipat) dibenarkan menaiki tren pada hujung minggu. 

Bagaimanapun, dalam pengumuman terbaru, KTM Komuter kini membuka pintu kepada semua jenis basikal untuk dibawa naik. 

Jelas Mohd Zain, semua jenis basikal boleh dibawa naik tren (di luar waktu puncak) pada hari bekerja dan (sepanjang masa) pada hujung minggu. – HM

KTM Malaysia has officially launched the new KTM 890 Duke R and 890 Adventure for the local market.

KTM 890 Adventure – RM96,800

The new motorcycle made its global appearance when the world was in the midst of Covid-19 madness back in October 2020.

At the time, KTM unveiled the 890 Adventure and the 890 Adventure R Rally but only the former is available for our market, for now.

Nevertheless, the KTM 890 Adventure runs the 889cc parallel-twin engine which has significant upgrades from the previous 790 generation. They’ve also upgraded other things like traction control, ABS, and electronics to make them more ‘wholesome’ for everyday riding.

They’re also coming in hot with a new set of fully adjustable WP XPLOR 48mm front forks while the rear is handled with the WP XPLOR PDS unit. This combo offers separate compression settings for low and high speeds, so you don’t have to mess with it too much once you get off the highway and onto the dirt.

KTM 890 Duke R – RM75,800

Also joining the Malaysian market is the new KTM 890 Duke R retailed at RM75,800.

As usual, the 890 Duke R offers a weird yet perfect contrast of colours, which only KTM can deliver.

First introduced in 2020, the KTM 890 Duke R continue to be the undisputed champion of the middleweight naked bike category.

Underneath the fancy paint sit s the famous 890cc parallel-twin engine that boasts an impressive 121hp and 99Nm.

The KTM 890 Duke R remains a no-nonsense middleweight naked bike, equally capable of tackling twisty corners on normal roads as it is on the racetrack.

Dubbed The Super Scalpel due to its lightning-fast steering geometry, the KTM 890 Duke R continue to feature a tubular steel chassis and adjustable WP Apex suspension.

Also available on the 890 Duke R is a pair of
Brembo Stylema callipers with 320mm front disc, and adjustable Brembo MCS master cylinder to counteract the enormous power.

The 890 Duke R also features a host of electronics wizardly, which includes:

Bajaj Auto hopes to venture into the premium electric bike segment with the help of their Austrian partner, KTM.

  • The Chetak electric scooter is Bajaj’s first attempt at electric two-wheelers.
  • The Chetak is currently on sale in 27 cities in India.

Currently, the Indian motorcycle company already has its own electric scooter on sale in India, namely the Chetak.

The Chetak is doing pretty well in terms of sales volume, with over 14,000 units delivered to customers across the country while 16,000 bookings are in the pipeline as of June 2022.

Despite the initial sales was only for Pune and Bengaluru, but due to the high demand, the Chetak electric scooter are now available at 27 cities across India.

However, the next step for Bajaj is to foray into the high-end electric bikes, as confirmed by Rakesh Sharma, Executive Director Bajaj Auto.

“We are in discusiion with KTM, there is a joint work going on where we are looking at platforms for high-end electric motorcycles.

“The plan is on our radar and will be announced at the right time,” he said.

Dengan pelonggaran sekatan perjalanan, State Railway of Thailand (SRT) telah mengumumkan ia akan mengembalikan kereta api ulang-alik Hat Yai-Padang Besar kembali kepada operasi biasa seperti dua tahun lalu.

Perkhidmatan ini telah berhenti operasinya sejak 18 March 2020 iaitu hari pertama Perintah Kawalan Pergerakan (PKP) disebabkan wabak Covid-19.

Kereta api itu membawa penumpang dari Padang Besar, Perlis ke stesen Hat Yai dalam tempoh masa lebh kurang satu jam.

Hat Yai merupakan pekan terbesar di Thailand Selatan yang paling dekat dengan Malaysia dan sangat terkenal dalam kalangan pelancong untuk pasar terapungnya, makanan Thai dan kraftangan.

Tiket sehala dari Padang Besar ke Hat Yai berharga THB50 (RM6).

Menurut jadual, hanya dua kereta api ulang-alik setiap hari, oleh itu anda digalakkan membuat tempahan tiket awal di laman web SRT.

From Padang Besar to Hat Yai, there are only two timings: train number 948 departing at 9.55am (Malaysia time) and train number 950 at 4.40pm (Malaysia time).

Pelumba MotoGP, Miguel Oliveira dan Alex Rins dilaporkan sudah pun mengesahkan pasukan baharu bagi musim 2023.

Menurut laporan Sky Italia, Oliveira akan meninggalkan KTM hujung musim ini dan berhijrah ke pasukan satelit baharu Aprilia kendalian Razlan Razali.

Perpindah anOliveira sudah pun dijangka apatah lagi pasukan Red Bull KTM mengumumkan telah menandatangani Jack Miller dari Ducati untuk dua musim.

KTM juga menawarkan peluang untuk Oliveira turun ke pasukan Tech3 namun senario itu tidak dipersetujui pelumba Portugal itu yang mahu kekal dengan mesin factory.

Sky Italia turut melaporkan bahawa RNF Racing telah mengikat Oliveira dengan kontrak dua tahun.

“Miguel Oliveria telah menandatangani kontrak dua tahun bersama Aprilia untuk beraksi bersama pasukan satelit RNF Racing kendalian Razlan Razali,” jelas laporan tersebut.

Difahamkan, Oliveira hampir berpindah ke Gresini namun tiada bentuk persetujuan formal dicapai sebelum pelumba itu buat keputusan sertai Aprilia.

Sementara itu, pelumba Suzuki, Alex Rins dilaporkan akan sertai LCR Honda.

Ini kerana dengan khabar angin kuat mengatakan rakan sepasukan, Joan Mir akan sertai Repsol Honda, pasukan Jepun itu didakwa turut memancing Rins untuk LCR Honda.

Pada masa sama, kegagalan mendapatkan khidmat Oliveira memaksa Gresini untuk mencari calon lain dengan Enea Bastianini dilaporkan akan berpindah ke pasukan factory Ducati atau Pramac Racing.
