Triumph TF 250-X yang baharu mencapai podium serta-merta di MXGP.

Penunggang Mikkel Haarup menunggang ke tempat ke-5 dalam Moto 1 (perlumbaan 1) dan tempat ke-2 dalam Moto2 (perlumbaan 2) untuk tempat ke-3 keseluruhannya dalam kelas MX2 di MXGP Argentina. Pusingan ini merupakan pusingan pertama di dalam kalendar GP Motocross Dunia (MXGP).

Kedua-dua pelumba Triumph telah mencapai penghabisan podium dalam perlumbaan pramusim, namun perlumbaan tersebut dianggap perlumbaan persediaan dan pemanasan badan, bukannya perlumbaan sebenar.

Haarup terjatuh dua kali semasa Perlumbaan Kelayakan yang meletakkannya di tempat ke-19 untuk permulaan Perlumbaan Utama. Namun pelumba dari Denmark itu dapat menebus semula kesilapannya di dalam dua perlumbaan utama pada hari Ahad dan juga mendahului perlumbaan buat seketika dalam Moto 2.

Haarup berkata selepas perlumbaan: “Ya, ia merupakan permulaan yang menakjubkan untuk musim ini! Podium adalah sempurna dan cara terbaik untuk memulakan tahun untuk diri saya sendiri, dan Monster Energy Triumph Racing.

“Perlumbaan kelayakan saya tidak begitu baik, tetapi saya tahu bahawa saya mempunyai kepantasan untuk berlumba dalam kelompok tiga teratas hari ini.

“Kami telah membina dan membina dan apa yang kami capai hari sepanjang luar musim. Pencapaian ini adalah hasil kerja keras semua orang yang terlibat. Saya berasa selesa di atas motosikal sepanjang hujung minggu dan itu sangat penting di trek sukar seperti ini. Rakan sepasukan Triumph Haarup, Camden McLellan, menamatkan perlumbaan ditempat ke-11 dan ke-6 untuk menduduki tempat ke-9 keseluruhannya dalam perlumbaan Kejuaraan Dunia pertamanya sebagai pelumba pasukan pengilang. Dia berkata: “Itulah hujung minggu yang berakhir di Argentina dan boleh dikatakan bahawa terdapat banyak kegelisahan dan banyak keseronokan sepanjang hujung minggu.”

Pencapaian ini amat penting untuk Triumph kerana mereka menerokai suatu segmen yang mereka tidak mempunyai pengalaman sebelumnya. Hanya segelintir pengeluar yang boleh menuntut permulaan sedemikian impian ini, apa lagi pada zaman ini di mana margin prestasi di antara motosikal sangat kecil.

The new and highly awaited debut of the Triumph TF 250-X achieves an immediate podium in MXGP.

Rider Mikkel Haarup rode to a 5th place finish in Moto 1 (race 1) and 2nd in Moto2 (race 2) for a 3rd place overall in the MX2 class of the  Argentinian MXGP.

Both Triumph riders had achieved podium finished in the preseason races, but those races were considered shakedown and warmup races, rather than the real thing.

Haarup made had two crashes during the Qualifying Race which put him 19th place for the start. The Dane rebounded during the two races on Sunday and even led the race in Moto 2.

Haarup said post-race: “Yeah, it’s been a really amazing start to the season! A podium is perfect and a great way to start the year for myself, and Monster Energy Triumph Racing.

“My qualifying race was not so good, but I knew that I had the speed to run in the top three today.

“All through the off-season we have been building and building and what we’ve achieved today is the result of a lot of hard work by everyone involved. I felt comfortable on the bike all weekend and that was really important on a tricky track like this. Today we’ve shown what this bike is capable of and overall, I’m really happy with my performance.”

Haarup’s Triumph  teammate Camden McLellan took 11th and 6th-placed finishes to finish 9th overall in his first World Championship race as a factory rider. He said: “That’s the weekend wrapped up in Argentina and it’s safe to say that there were a lot of nerves and a lot of excitement all weekend.

Needless to say, this achievement is important for Triumph as they venture into another segment which they had no prior experience. Very few manufacturers could claim such a dream debut, what more in this age where the margins of performance are so small.

Have you encountered parking touts that demand a “guard fee” when you want to park your motorcycle or car? This matter is prevalent in many places around the National Capital despite the parking lot in question is a public area.

It is actually an offence and we can report such activities to the Police or City Hall.

Several days ago a parking tout was jailed for 30 days and fined by the Kuala Lumpur City Hall Magistrate’s Court (DBKL) after being found guilty of carrying out such illegal activities.

He along with seven individuals, including five foreigners, were accused in court after being arrested by the DBKL Enforcement Department through the Unlicensed Parking Guard Special Operation (Ops Jaga), last Thursday. The operations was carried out around Jalan Tun Sambathan, Jalan Sri Hartamas, Jalan Beremi, Jalan Tengkat Tong Shin, Jalan Alor and Jalan Raja Alang. These areas were identified as the focus of parking touts to “guard” and collect parking fees in public areas.

“A special operation was carried out from 12.30pm to 9.30pm, which resulted in arresting three local men and five foreigners consisting of three Indians, one Bangladeshi and one Myanmar national.

“They are then taken to the Enforcement Department for further action and documentation process (court prosecution/investigation papers).

“Yesterday, the DBKL Magistrate’s Court sentenced one individual to 30 days in prison, four others were sentenced to 14 days in prison while the other three were fined,” DBKL said.

Previously, the media reported the activities of parking touts in the capital operating unabated after they were seen often disturbing road users. The parking touts were spotted charging up to RM20 for a vehicle targeting crowded locations such as shopping areas, dining places and around entertainment centers.

Operasi yang dijalankan sekitar Jalan Tun Sambathan, Jalan Sri Hartamas, Jalan Beremi, Jalan Tengkat Tong Shin, Jalan Alor dan Jalan Raja Alang dikenal pasti lokasi tumpuan aktiviti menjaga dan mengutip wang parkir di kawasan awam.

“Operasi khas dijalankan bermula jam 12.30 tengah hari hingga jam 9.30 malam menahan tiga lelaki warga tempatan dan lima warga asing terdiri daripada tiga warga India serta seorang Bangladesh dan seorang warga Myanmar.

“Mereka kemudian dibawa ke Jabatan Penguatkuasaan untuk tindakan lanjut dan proses dokumentasi (pendakwaan mahkamah/kertas siasatan).

“Kelmarin, Mahkamah Majistret DBKL menjatuhkan hukuman penjara 30 hari kepada seorang individu, empat lagi dikenakan penjara 14 hari manakala tiga yang lain didenda,” katanya.

Sebelum ini, media melaporkan kegiatan ulat parkir di ibu negara seperti tiada kesudahan selepas kelibat mereka sering mengganggu pengguna jalan raya.

Ulat parkir itu dikesan mengenakan caj mencecah RM20 bagi sebuah kenderaan menyasarkan lokasi tumpuan ramai seperti kawasan beli-belah, tempat menjamu selera dan sekitar pusat hiburan.

Penang Police are hunting for a man who caused an accident on purpose and demanded money from the driver.

The police have received a report regarding a man who allegedly caused a road accident intentionally with the purpose of demanding a sum of money, supposedly as compensation from the owner of the car involved.

The man is said to cause accidents often around the city, Jalan Masjid Negeri, Bukit Gambir, Taman Lip Sin, and Taman Tun Sardon.

North East District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Razlam Ab Hamid, said the man is still being hunted by the police since receiving a complaint from the public last December. “So far a report has been received regarding the incident and efforts to track down the suspect are still ongoing.

“The case is being investigated according to Section 420 of the Penal Code which is cheating,” he said when contacted today.

Earlier, several photos and videos were circulated on social media showing the man riding a motorcycle deliberately hitting a car and claiming that the fault was caused by the owner of the vehicle involved.

Following the “violation,” the motorcyclist is said to be asking for damages of between RM20 and RM60 from the car owner on the grounds that his side mirror was broken in the incident.

Scams like this have happened several times and it makes the car dashboard camera or action camera for motorcyclists a must-have device.

Polis Pulau Pinang sedang memburu seorang lelaki yang menyebabkan kemalangan dan meminta wang daripada pemandu.

Polis telah menerima satu laporan berhubung lelaki yang didakwa sengaja menyebabkan kemalangan jalan raya dengan niat mahu meminta sejumlah wang, kononnya sebagai ganti rugi daripada pemilik kereta yang terbabit.

Lelaki itu dikatakan sering menyebabkan kemalangan sekitar bandaraya, Jalan Masjid Negeri, Bukit Gambir, Taman Lip Sin, dan Taman Tun Sardon.

Ketua Polis Daerah Timur Laut, Asisten Komisioner Razlam Ab Hamid, berkata lelaki itu kini masih diburu polis semenjak aduan daripada orang awam pada Disember lalu. “Setakat ini satu laporan diterima berhubung kejadian itu dan usaha menjejak suspek berkenaan masih dijalankan.

“Kes disiasat mengikut Seksyen 420 Kanun Keseksaan iaitu menipu,” katanya ketika dihubungi hari ini.

Terdahulu, tular di media sosial beberapa gambar dan video memaparkan lelaki berkenaan yang menunggang motosikal sengaja melanggar kereta dan mendakwa kesalahan itu berpunca daripada pemilik kenderaan terbabit.

Susulan pelanggaran itu, penunggang motosikal berkenaan dikatakan meminta ganti rugi antara RM20 hingga RM60 daripada pemilik kereta dengan alasan cermin sisinya patah dalam insiden terbabit.

Scam seperti sudah pernah berlaku beberapa kali dan ia menjadikan kamera papan pemuka kereta atau kamera aksi untuk penunggang motosikal suatu peranti yang wajib ada.

All highway concession companies are instructed to prepare for the month of Ramadan, especially during peak hours to ensure comfortable, safe and smooth travel for users.

The Malaysian Highways Authority (LLM) informed that it expects an increase in the amount of traffic on tolled highways when going home or going to work during Ramadan which is expected to start this Tuesday.

“Among the initiatives that need to be implemented is re-coordinating the location and time of lane closures for maintenance works in line with the time of return or departure from work, whether in the government or private sector which will change compared to normal working hours.

“In addition, rescheduling the activation time of the tidal route or smartlane in accordance with the change in working hours and ensuring that all facilities are provided in rest and treatment areas, side stops and toll plazas in good condition.

“This includes aspects of water supply and cleanliness,” according to LLM while also asking the parties involved to identify focal locations and provide temporary additional facilities to deal with the increase in the number of users.

In addition, they hope that cooperation with the Royal Malaysian Police (PDRM) can be increased to help smooth traffic movement, especially at critical locations such as traffic lights after highway exits to avoid traffic overflowing onto the highway’s main route.

“Antara inisiatif yang perlu dilaksanakan ialah menyelaras semula lokasi dan masa penutupan lorong untuk kerja-kerja penyelenggaraan selaras dengan waktu pulang atau pergi dari bekerja, sama ada di sektor kerajaan atau swasta yang akan berubah berbanding waktu kerja biasa.

“Selain daripada itu, menjadualkan semula waktu pengaktifan laluan tidal atau smartlane selaras dengan perubahan waktu kerja dan memastikan semua kemudahan disediakan di kawasan rehat dan rawat, hentian sebelah dan plaza tol dalam keadaan baik.

“Ini termasuk aspek bekalan air dan tahap kebersihan,” menurut LLM sambil turut meminta pihak yang terlibat untuk mengenal pasti lokasi tumpuan dan menyediakan kemudahan tambahan sementara bagi menangani peningkatan jumlah pengguna.

Tambah lagi, mereka berharap kerjasama dengan Polis Diraja Malaysia (PDRM) dapat ditingkatkan untuk membantu kelancaran pergerakan trafik, terutama di lokasi kritikal seperti lampu isyarat selepas susur keluar lebuh raya bagi mengelakkan limpahan trafik ke laluan utama lebuh raya.

Ia masih menjanjikan prestasi dan teknologi tanpa menjejaskan kepraktisan dan keselesaan.

Oleh itu, bukanlah sesuatu yang mengejutkan apabila Yamaha mengemas kini TMAX sedikit sebanyak untuk bersaing, jika tidak, terus berada di hadapan pesaingnya.

Enjin kekal sama: Jenis kembar selari 562cc, dengan penyejukan cecair dan suntikan bahan api. Ia menghasilkan kuasa maksimum sebanyak 48 hp pada 7,500 RPM dan 55.7 Nm tork maksimum pada 5,250 RPM. Itu adalah sebaran yang luas sebanyak 2,250 RPM antara tork dan kuasa maksimum memastikan pecutan yang pantas apabila bergerak.

Walau bagaimanapun, kemas kini utama terletak pada ciri elektronik. Sebagai permulaan, kini terdapat kawalan jelajah (cruise control) yang merupakan tambahan yang dialu-alukan untuk perjalanan jarak jauh. Paparan meter TFT 7-inci berwarna penuh kini mempunyai navigasi Garmin. Pencucuhan tanpa kunci, kawalan cengkaman, ABS dikekalkan. Model Jepun mempunyai handel dan tempat duduk yang dipanaskan.

Ciri-ciri lain termasuk penghalang angin yang tinggi, tempat duduk yang selesa, ruang simpanan bawah tempat duduk yang besar dan banyak lagi. Pemilik Yamaha TMAX 560 2024 di Jepun boleh memilih beg pelana dan top boks, tetapi ia mungkin tidak tersedia untuk pasaran kami. Namun satu perkara yang pasti ialah ia akan mengambil masa yang agak lama untuk tiba di sini.

The Yamaha TMAX is arguably the scooter which started the maxi-scooter class when it first was first released in 2001, taking over from the 250cc Majesty.  Popular in Europe, the bike has continued it 23-year run with updates after updates to bring it up to snuff. It still promises performance and tech without compromising on praticality and comfort.

Therefore, it is not a surprise that Yamaha updated the TMAX further to keep up, if not stay ahead, of its rivals.

The engine stays the same: A 562cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected parallel-twin. It produces a healthy maximum power of 48 hp at 7,500 RPM and 55.7 Nm of maximum torque at 5,250. That is a good spread of 2,250 RPM between maximum torque and power, ensuring fast roll-on acceleration.

However, the main updates lie in the electronic features. For starters, there is now cruise control which is a welcomed addition for long distance rides. The full-colour 7-inch TFT display now has built-in Garmin navigation. Keyless ignition, traction control, ABS are retained. The Japanese model has heated grips and seats.

Other features include a tall windscreen, comfy seats, huge underseat storage space and more. 2024 Yamaha TMAX 560 owners in Japan can opt for saddlebags and top case, but they may not be available for our market. But one thing for certain is it will take quite some time to arrive here.
