Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) introduced a new colour for the 2022 Yamaha NMax 155 scooter.

  • Gets two new colourways; Matte Blue and Matte Green.
  • 2022 Yamaha NMax 155 is now priced at RM9,498.

The 2022 NMax now features two new colourways, Matte Blue and Matte Green and is priced at RM9,498 (excluding road tax, insurance and registration), a RM500 increase from the previous model.

Nonetheless, powering the 2022 NMax 155 is a 155cc single-cylinder SOHC VVA engine fed by EFI. Power output is claimed at 14.9hp @ 8,000rpm and 14.4Nm @ 6,600rpm with a CVT gearbox and final belt drive.

Also available on the 2022 model are an LED headlamp, LED taillight, digital LCD display, USB port and idle start-stop function.

Other notable features include:

  • 23.3L under seat storage
  • 7.1L fuel tank
  • telescopic front fork
  • twin shock absorbers

Braking is done with a single hydraulic disc brake at the front and rear mated to a 230mm disc.

The 2022 Yamaha NMax comes with a 2-year or 20,000km warranty. According to HLYM, the 2022 Yamaha NMax 155 is available at all authorised dealers.

Seramai 180 penunggang motosikal Yamaha LC135 dengan nombor plat pendaftaran 1010 mengadakan konvoi seluruh negara dan juga beberapa negara Asia bagi memperkenalkan jentera Yamaha itu yang hanya dikeluarkan dan dijual di Malaysia.

Pengarah Urusan Kumpulan Hong Leong Industries, Datuk Dr. Jim Khor berkata, konvoi Kelab Keluarga Besar Yamaha LC1010 itu memulakan perjalanan secara berperingkat bermula Sabtu. 

“Apa yang uniknya, Yamaha LC135 berwarna merah ini hanya dikeluarkan untuk dijual di Malaysia sahaja. Tiada di negara Asia seperti Indonesia, Jepun, Vietnam dan Thailand seperti mana kebiasaan pasaran Yamaha.

“Selain itu, ia juga tertera nombor plat khas 1010 yang bermaksud “Perfect” atau sempurna bagi fengshui Cina. 

“Ketika ini, motosikal dengan nombor plat 1010 itu hanya ada sebanyak 180 buah sahaja di Malaysia dan pembeli perlu menunggu untuk menguruskan tempahan khas nombor plat ini sebelum memiliki motosikal mereka. Sebab itu kita katakan kelab ini unik,” katanya. 

Jim Khor yang juga Presiden Kelab Keluarga Besar Yamaha LC1010 itu berkata, konvoi itu akan diadakan setiap bulan bermula bulan ini sehingga selesai seluruh negeri dalam Malaysia sebelum ke Thailand, Vietnam dan Indonesia.

Baru-baru ini, beberapa gambar ‘spy shot’ mendedahkan bahawa Yamaha Tracer 9 GT akan dinaik taraf dengan teknologi radar.

Kehadiran teknologi itu bermakna Tracer 9 GT baharu itu akan menawarkan fungsi ‘Adaptive Cruise Control’ sepertimana yang terdapat pada Ducati Multistrada V4, KTM 1290 Super Adventure dan BMW R 1250 RT.

Bagaimanapun, motosikal sport touring dari Yamaha itu dijangka hanya akan menggunakan teknologi radar depan sahaja berbanding Multistrada V4 dan 1290 Super Adventure yang mempunyai radar dibelakang bagi fungsi ‘Blind Spot Detection’.

Namun, ketiadaan teknologi radar di bahagian belakang juga mungkin antara aspek yang telah dipertimbang Yamaha dalam usaha memastikan Tracer 9 GT masih lagi dalam linkungan harga mampu milik berbanding jenama Eropah lain.

Namun, dalam perkembangan terbaru, Yamaha juga akan menaik taraf bahagian papan pemuka Tracer 9 GT.

Berdasarkan gambar ‘spy shot’ terbaru, jelas menampakkan sebuah paparan skrin TFT berwarna tunggal menggantikan skrin berkembar 3.5-inci yang terdapat pada model sebelumnya.

Skrin yang lebih besar itu juga memberi bayangan bahawa Yamaha akan menawarkan fungsi ‘smartphone connectivity’ bagi membolehkan penunggang menghubungkan telefon pintar kepada skrin untuk tujuan navigasi dan sebagainya.

Walaupun Yamaha masih belum mengumumkan sebarang tarikh pelancaran bagi generasi baharu Tracer 9 GT, melihat kepada rupa bentuknya yang serba lengka dan siap sepenuhnya, pastinya pengumuman itu akan dibuat tidak lama lagi.

Pelumba berpengalaman, Andrea Dovizioso akan meninggalkan Kejuaraan Dunia MotoGP hujung musim ini.

Dovizioso mengesahkan perkara itu dengan mendedahkan bahawa dia tidak akan mencari slot bagi musim 2023 sebaliknya akan mencari alternatif lain atau bersara terus dari dunia perlumbaan.

“Saya tidak akan berlumba, itu pasti. Saya selalu berkata bahawa jika saya gagal beraksi secara kompetitif, saya tidak mahu berada di sini lagi.

“Saya tenang sahaja tentang perkara ini. Sebelum ini saya telah pun berehat dari perlumbaan selama enam bulan. Jadi saya tidak ada sebarang masalah,” jelasnya.

Pelumba Itali itu ketika ini memasuki musim ke-15 di MotoGP dan bersama-sama pasukan RNF Racing kendalian Datuk Razlan Razali yang disertainya di penghujung musim 2021.

Bagaimanapun, pelumba itu seakan bergelut sejak kembali ke MotoGP apabila hanya mampu mengutip empat mata selepas 11 pusingan.

Pada masa, peralihan RNF Racing dari Yamaha ke Aprilia musim depan juga menyaksikan kedudukannya di pasukan satelit Yamaha itu tergugat.

Apa pun, Dovizioso sendiri tidak bercadang untuk meneruskan kariernya di perlumbaan berprestij itu namun masih belum mengesahkan sama langkah seterusnya adalah bersaing di kejuaraan lain ataupun bersara.

Ini merupakan kali kedua Dovizioso tinggalkan MotoGP selepas meninggalkan Ducati pada penghujung musim 2020 ekoran masalah gaji. Dovizioso juga menolak tawaran dari Aprilia tahun lepas sebelum membuat keputusan sertai RNF.

Looks like Yamaha has some big news for us already as the Japanese firm is likely introducing radar-assisted cruise control function for the upcoming Tracer 9 GT.

Yes folks, the sports tourer motorcycle will feature the fancy radar technology as reported by Motorrad.

The German publication managed to capture a spy shot of what appears to be the Tracer 9 GT underwent a road test in southwest Germany. You can check their spy shot photos HERE.

From the photos, you can see that there is a conspicuous box attached in between the front headlamp. Motorrad also claimed that it could be a Bosch unit, similar to the one installed on the Ducati Multstrada V4.

However, while the Multistrada V4 also feature radar technology at the rear for its blind spot function, the Tracer 9 GT could be missing out on that particular technology.

Nevertheless, while these spy shot did not revealed much a part from the new technology, it could be well enough to highlight that Yamaha is moving towards radar-assisted function for the future.

Then again, everything is mere speculation at this point and the adaptive cruise control system could still be in an early stage and the Tracer 9 GT might just be a lab rat for Yamaha to test out the new feature.

One thing is clear however, we might know the rest of the story from Yamaha in the coming months.

Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) has pulled the wraps off the new Yamaha YZF-R15M. 

  • two variants available, with the R15M features the most upgrades.
  • traction control and quickshifter fitted as standard. 

After the bike was caught testing on the streets in Malaysia, HLYM officially launched the R15M for a recommended retail price of RM14,998.

Inspired by the Japanese marquee YZF-R1M superbike, the R15M features the same paint job and gets its own “R15M” badge.

However, the biggest upgrade carried out on the new R15M is the electronic package that now features traction control as quick-shifter as standard, complementing the dual-channel ABS.

The R15M also gets new bodywork, including the tank and side panels, which mimic the R1 and R7 design language.

However, the R15M retains the same single-cylinder SOCH, VVA 155cc engine capable of producing 18hp @ 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm @ 7,500rpm. Power is delivered to the rear wheel via a final chain drive mated to a six-speed gearbox.

Other notable features include:

  • two display modes – Street/Track
  • LED lights with DRLs

The 2022 Yamaha R15M is available in two colourway; Signature M and Monster Energy Yamaha livery.

Yamaha has announced a 15-year reduction in its aim for carbon neutrality in its factories from 2050 to 2035.

  • stepping up initiatives to minimise energy consumption and to use cleaner energy source.
  • installing more solar panels and use carbon-free electricity by 2030.

The world’ second largest motorcycle manufacturer are confident that the firm’s green goal can be achieved in its factories both in Japan and overseas earlier than planned.

Yamaha announced the ‘Yamaha Motor Group Environmental Plan 2050’ a year ago with the target to achieve carbon neutrality by 2050, however in a latest announcement, the plan will now be accelerated to 2035.

To meet the new mission, Yamaha will now step up its initiative by minimising energy consumption as well as using cleaner energy.

“The projected result of these moves by 2035 is a 92% reduction in CO2 emissions (compared to 2010) from production operations at domestic and international Yamaha Motor factories.

“Furthermore, remaining CO2 emissions will be offset by internationally recognised methods to carry out the Company’s plan to achieve carbon neutrality at all its factories,” said Yamaha in a statement.

Susulan peraturan baharu emisi yang akan dilaksanakan di Jepun, empat jenama besar motosikal di negara itu, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki dan Suzuki dilaporkan bakal memberhentikan pengeluaran beberapa model bermula hujung tahun ini.

Rombakan tersebut akan dilakukan bagi mencapai standard emisi terbaru di Jepun.

Pelaksanaan peraturan emisi di Eropah juga telah menyaksikan beberapa model jenama Jepun telah dihentikan pengeluaran dan jualan antaranya Yamaha R6 dan FJR1300.

Yamaha kini hanya meneruskan pengeluaran R6 Race, sebuah model yang hanya khas untuk kegunaan litar lumba.

Pemberhentian beberapa model itu juga akan berlaku di Jepun dengan laporan terbaru mendakwa Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki dan Suzuki akan menghentikan 10 peratus daripada 190 model yang ditawarkan ketika ini.

Honda akan menghentikan 10 daripada 80 model sedia ada dengan khabar angin mengatakan model ikonik, Gold Wing akan turut menjadi mangsa. Baru-baru ini, Honda telah pun menghentikan pengeluaran CB400 Super Four.

Langkah sama akan turut diikuti Suzuki yang dikatakan akan menghentikan beberapa model termasuk GSX-R250.

Bagaimanapun, keempat-empat jenama ini dijangka akan memberi fokus pada jentera elektrik bagi kembali memperkembangkan tawaran model baharu untuk pasaran dunia.

Namun, dengan keempat-empat jenama ini merangkumi 40 peratus daripada bekalan motosikal dunia, penyingkiran lebih 20 model itu pastinya akan memberi impak besasr pada pasaran motosikal dunia.

Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki and Suzuki are set to discontinue up to 20 models by the year’s end due to Japan’s updated emission regulation.

Worldwide emission regulations have forced many manufacturers to discontinue some models in recent years, with Yamaha ditching the street-legal R6 and for a track-only R6 Race, while Harley-Davidson had to remove its Evo-powered Sportster from the European market.

The trend is set to occur in Japan as the country’s emission regulations update will spell more models’ demise by the year’s end.

According to reports in Japan, Honda, Yamaha, Kawasaki, and Suzuki will remove 10% out of 190 models currently offered by the country’s Big Four.

Honda will discontinue 10 out of its 80 models, with rumours circulating in the country suggesting that the iconic Gold Wing is also included on the chopping block. Honda recently axed the CB400 Super Four.

Meanwhile, Yamaha is set to retire the FJR1300 tourer, with Suzuki potentially reducing its volume by discontinuing five models, including the GSX-250R.

Despite the immense shake-up, Honda aims to recover by electrifying its lineup by 2040 with Yamaha, which shared a similar mission of zero-emission by 2050.

However, with the Big Four comprising 40% of the world’s two-wheel supply, eliminating 20 models could hugely impact the market. Not to mention, an electric motorcycle isn’t a cheaper option for the mass.

Pelumba Yamaha, Fabio Quartararo telah dikenakan denda gara-gara kesilapannya melanggar Aleix Espargaro di GP Belanda pada Ahad.

Ketika cuba mengejar Francesco Bagnaia sebaik perlumbaan bermula, Quartararo kehilangan kawalan di Turn 5 lalu terbabas dan terlanggar wakil Aprilia, Espargaro.

Espargaro kemudiannya terpaksa mengejar semula kelompok depan apabila jatuh ke kedudukan ke-15 sebelum berjaya menamatkan saingan di kedudukan keempat.

Sementara Quartararo, mengalami kemalangan kali kedua di Turn 5 apabila jentera Yamaha M1 miliknya mengalami ‘highside’.

Sebaik tamat perlumbaa, Quartararo telah pun berjumpa dengan Espargaro di pit lane bagi memohon maaf dengan pelumba Aprilia itu turut menyambut baik tindakannya.

Susulan kejadian dengan Espargaro, FIM membuat keputusan mengenakan denda ‘Long Lap Penalty’ yang perlu dijalaninya di GP Britain yang akan berlangsung lima minggu lagi.

Menurut FIM, keputusan itu dibuat setelah mendapati Quartararo bukan dalam posisi untuk menyempurnakan pergerakannya lalu mengakibatkan pelanggaran dengan pelumba #41.

Bagaimanapun, Pengurus Pasukan Monster Energy Yamaha, Massimo Meregalli berpendapat keputusan dikenakan pada Quartararo adalah agak keras.

“Kami melihat kemalangan pertama Quartarao dan mendapati keputusan Race Direction untuk perlumbaan seterusnya adalah keras memandangkan dia tidak menyebabkan sesiapa kemalangan sementara Aleix (Espargaro) juga berjaya kutip mata,” jelas Meregalli.

Dia juga berpendapat keputusan dibuat tidak konsisten memandangkan insiden perlumbaan sebelum ini – babitkan Takaaki Nakagami, Alex Rins dan Bagnaia – tidak dikenakan sebarang tindakan.

Saingan pada Ahad sememangnya sukar ditelan kem Yamaha apabila tiga daripada empat pelumba – termasuk Franco Morbidelli dan Darryn Binder turut gagal menamatkan saingan selepas kemalangan.

Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) baru sahaja memuat naik ‘teaser’ baharu di laman sosial rasmi beberapa hari lalu.

Meskipun ‘teaser’ berdurasi 23 saat itu tidak mendedahkan sebarang bayangan motosikal namun berdasarkan slogan ‘Yamaha MSeries’ di samping klip sepintas lalu menunjukkan senario di jalan raya dan litar maka berdasarkan klu tersebut hampir pasti merujuk kepada motosikal yang sesuai ditunggang dalam kedua-dua senario.

Tidak dinafikan klu yang dikongsikan itu mungkin juga merujuk pada Yamaha YZF-R1M namun jika melihat kepada sejarah HLYM sebelum ini, model tersebut tidak dibawa masuk untuk pasaran tempatan.

Jadi bersandarkan faktor itu, maka adalah relevan bahawa ‘teaser’ tersebut merujuk kepada Yamaha YZF-R15M.

Apatah lagi model ‘sportsbike’ 155cc itu telah pun dipasarkan di India sekitar September 2021 dan seterusnya di negara jiran, Indonesia pada Disember tahun sama.

Berdasarkan model yang dilancarkan di India dan Indonesia, ciri menarik R15M tentunya memfokuskan fungsi ‘traction control’ serta ‘quickshifter’ yang akan melengkapi sistem ABS sedia ada.

Selain itu, R15M masih lagi dikuasakan enjin 155cc SOCH dengan VA yang menawarkan 18hp pada 10,000rpm dan 14.2Nm pada 7,500rpm.

The International Motorcycling Federation recently updated the list of FIM-approved competition vehicles for 2023.

  • The spreadsheet includes a track-only Yamaha R6 Race and YZF-R1.
  • The 2023 track-only R1 could indicate a newly updated street-legal R1 is underway.

The approved list titled “FIM Recognized Competition Vehicles” mostly comprised motocross, enduro, trail and cross country motorcycles and ATVs.

The list also includes a few track-only sportsbike, including the Honda NSF100, NSF250R and the Yamaha R6 Race that continues to be available in the market as a track-only machine after the street-legal model was discontinued.

However, FIM recently updated the list by adding one more model, a new 2023 Yamaha YZF1000W.

For those unaware, the YZF1000 is the Japanese manufacturer’s internal name for the YZF-R1, while the flagship YZF-R1M carries the YZF1000D code.

According to reports, FIM updated the documents on June 15 after receiving Yamaha’s submission on June 9.

While the internal code refers to a new track-only Yamaha R1 for the 2023 model year, it could also indicate that the Japanese marquee is set to introduce a street-legal 2023 YZF-R1 too.

While the matter is still inconclusive, the R1 is due for an update with the current-generation R1 is already seven years in the market since its introduction in 2015. Although Yamaha revised the R1 in 2020 to meet Euro 5 emission standard, it is the right time to introduce a new generation going into 2023.

If there is a new 2023 YZF-R1, there is a good chance there could also be a new 2023 YZF-R1M on its way, which we could find out soon enough.
