EICMA

Japanese giant manufacturer Yamaha set to join Honda at 2021 EICMA in Milan, scheduled to be held in November.

The 2020 edition was cancelled due to the Covid-19 restriction, which resulted in manufacturers turning to online presentations to unveil all the latest models via virtual launch with Triumph Motorcycles and BMW Motorrad among the manufacturers who successfully launched their 2021 range.

However, according to Eric de Seynes, President and CEO of Yamaha Motor Europe N.V, the decision to attend this year EICMA was not easy due to apparent reasons.

“After having observed the trend related to the evolution of COVID-19 and being reassured by the EICMA organisation that we can provide a safe environment for all visitors, while allowing them to experience the event to the full, we believe it is the right decision to support the return of such an event.

“With arguably the largest international reach, EICMA has great significance for our industry, being a unique moment and place where the motorcycle community can come together to feel the reaction from media and customers to the new products, keeping the connection with them alive and providing inspiration towards future trends.

“While we have yet to return to what most of us consider normality, this year’s event provides the first opportunity for enthusiasts to come together and be connected again physically, rather than virtually,” he said in a statement.

Thanks to the confirmation, this means that the two Japanese giants will be present, making the returning EICMA an exciting event to attend.

Royal Enfield, to follow Honda in confirming their attendance at this year biggest motorcycle event, the EICMA 2021.

Historically, EICMA has always functioned as the launchpad for every motorcycle manufacturers worldwide to introduce the upcoming model and provide a glimpse into the company next project.

However, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the 2020 event was cancelled, which also led to manufacturer resorted to digital platforms.

Things look gloomy for 2021 when BMW Motorrad decided to pull out from any motorcycle show before Honda announced their participation for this year event, followed by Royal Enfield.

“We at Royal Enfield is delighted to be part of EICMA 2021 and are incredibly excited about the opportunity to connect with the wider motorcycle community after such a busy time for everyone,” said Royal Enfield, Head of International Business Arun Gopal.

At the same time, Benelli also announces their presence at the 78th edition EICMA scheduled from 23 to 28 November 2021.

“We are very pleased and honoured to confirm Benelli’s presence at EICMA 2021 and to once again take the opportunity to present our news on one of the most important stages in the world of two-wheeler,” announced CEO of Benelli and QJMotor, Yan Haimei.

EICMA announced Honda Motor Company would participate in this year EICMA 2021, taking place on November 23-28.

The Japanese marque decision to attend this year exhibition seems like a positive outlook for other manufacturers to follow suit. However, BMW Motorrad has already announced pulling the plug on all motorcycle show due to the current pandemic.

Nonetheless, due to the rapid rise of Covid-19 vaccination rates, there is a reason to be cautiously optimistic.

Since November is 8-months away, other manufacturers can still make a U-turn if they ever decided to participate the event.

“It is a concrete and conscious approach to protect the value of the event, the public and the whole sector of reference involved, with the structure of EICMA S.p.A. and the manufacturers committed to facing up to the complexity of the organization of the event in a context in continuous development.

“The path towards EICMA 2021 is distinguished by a reasonable expectation and a more flexible vision compared to the past. Sharing this new orientation therefore implies a surplus of compactness by all the players involved and the positive confirmation of Honda, together with the other significant names which have already assured their presence, go in exactly this direction. We hope that we can soon communicate other confirmations.

“The common objective is that we can once again gather around our passion for the products of this industry and reconquer the freedom to do what EICMA has been doing for over one hundred years,” said explained EICMA in a statement.

EICMA (International Bicycle and Motorcycle Show) was supposed to organise their 78th exhibition this year but due to concerns related to COVID-19 (as well as the huge crowd turnouts every year), EICMA 2020 is officially cancelled or in their words, postponed to November 2021. (more…)

  • BMW Motorrad is set to unveil four new models at EICMA 2019.

  • They could be the R18, F 850 R/RS, S 1000 R/XR.

  • EICMA 2019 begins on 4th November 2019.

BMW Motorrad is set to unveil four new models at EICMA 2019 (Esposizione Internazionale Ciclo Motociclo e Accessori – International Exposition of Motorcycles and Accessories).

BMW unveiled nine new models at EICMA 2018 and throughout this year, which included those using using the new 1254cc Shift Cam-equipped Boxer engine, namely the R 1250 GS, R 1250 GS Adventure, R 1250 RT and R 1250 RS. So, what can we expect this time?

How about the R 1250 R? The R 12XX R is the most underrated Boxer in BMW’s line-up. We’ve tested the R 1200 R and found it wonderfully entertaining and joyful to ride. Sure, it may not look as butch as the latest naked bikes and supernakeds, but that isn’t the point. It’s more like a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

The R18 cruiser, bagger and tourer will definitely debut at EICMA, as we wrote in a previous article. The bike will bring BMW back into the cruiser segment they’ve been missing from for the last 15 years.

What else?

The new F 850 R, perhaps? There’s already the new F 850 GS and F 850 GS Adventure, along with the F 750 GS (which if of the same capacity with lower power output). In this respect, there could either be the new F 850 R naked/standard or F 850 RS sport-tourer.

Okay, we’ve saved the best for last.

Two bikes that’ve been sorely missing are the S 1000 R and S 1000 XR. The new S 1000 RR have been receiving rave reviews everywhere (although they’ve yet to arrive in Malaysia) so it’s high time the R and XR are updated in terms of looks, performance along with Euro 5 requirements.

The S 1000 RR’s engine is fitted with a Shift Cam version for the inline-Four. We should see the same for the new bikes.

EICMA begins on 4th November. It’s going to be the most interesting as almost all manufacturers will debut new bikes ahead of the implementation of Euro 5.

Difahamkan, CT125 bakal ditayangkan bersama-sama pelancaran Honda CRF1100L Africa Twin.
