In a significant development for the motorcycle manufacturing industry, Yamaha has made an official announcement regarding a planned change of ownership of Chongqing Jianshe Mechanical and Electric Co., Ltd. (CJMEC), a current partner in the Yamaha motorcycle manufacturing joint venture in China, known as Zhuzhou Jianshe Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (ZJYM). This change is scheduled to take place in November 2023.

  • Under the terms of the agreement, ZJYM’s equity interest will be transferred to ZHEJIANG CFMOTO POWER CO., LTD. (CFMOTO).
  • The new entity resulting from this transition will be named Zhuzhou CF Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (ZCYM). Currently, ZCYM boasts a workforce of approximately 500 employees.

The ownership distribution in ZCYM will be as follows: CFMOTO will hold a 50 percent share, Yamaha will maintain a 44.23 percent share, and the remaining 5.77 percent will be held by Tair Yea Limited.

Yamaha views China as one of its crucial production and sales bases and considers this change in ownership as part of its strategy to enhance competitiveness. The company intends to engage in discussions with CFMOTO to determine the future direction of their joint venture with the goal of further elevating their competitive edge within the market.

This development not only has implications for Yamaha but also signifies a significant shift within the global motorcycle industry. CFMOTO, which already maintains a close working alliance with KTM, will now further solidify its position within the industry through this alliance with Yamaha.

The collaboration between CFMOTO and Yamaha is expected to have a positive impact on the industry landscape, with potential benefits for both companies and motorcycle enthusiasts worldwide.

As November 2023 approaches, all eyes will be on Zhuzhou CF Yamaha Motor Co., Ltd. (ZCYM), as it sets out on this new chapter in its journey, with the hopes of continued success in the ever-evolving motorcycle market. Stay tuned for further updates on this development and its implications in the coming months.

At the buzzing Zhuzhou International Circuit, the air was thick with anticipation as 1,500 attendees eagerly awaited what CFMOTO had in store for them. This was the first CFMOTO DAY since 2019, and it promised to be bigger and better than ever.

  • The festivities kicked off with 300 riders parading the 3.2km track. With motorcycles ranging from 150cc to 1250cc and the inclusion of CFMOTO SSVs, it was an exhilarating display of unity and celebration for fans of all ages.
  • As the afternoon wore on, attendees were treated to an array of activities. From breathtaking stunt shows by Hu Hai to exhilarating ATV off-road experiences, the event was bursting with action at every corner. The younger fans had a ball racing the CFORCE110, EV110, and CX-5E models, while others were engrossed in live music and skillful displays at the “Gymkhana” EMT National Finals.

But the crowning moment arrived when CFMOTO unveiled its newest additions to the motorcycle lineup. The 150SC scooter is all about blending the best of both worlds: practicality and fun. With its impressive fuel economy and spacious storage, it’s designed for daily commutes as well as weekend rides.

Then came the showstoppers: the 500SR and 675SR. Building upon the legacy of the SR series, these high-performance motorcycles are feats of engineering. The 500SR, developed in secret three years prior, boasts a powerful four-cylinder engine and innovative technologies that enable it to zoom past 230 km/h.

Adding to the brand’s commitment to motorsport, the CFMOTO Talent Trophy was announced. A program designed to nurture young Chinese riders, it’s a step toward making CFMOTO and Chinese engineering synonymous with top-tier championship racing.

Charles Ni, CFMOTO VP, perfectly encapsulated the spirit of the day, saying, “The annual CFMOTO DAY is a carnival for our customers, clients, and CFMOTO enthusiasts from all over the world. It’s about coming together for the love of motorcycles and experiencing more together.”

  • the 800NK is equipped with KYB suspension, full-colour TFT and J.Juan brake callipers.

Powered by a KTM-acquired 799cc 285-degree parallel twin, the 800 NK produces 95 horsepower and 81Nm of torque. With a top speed of 220 kilometers per hour, it’s a lightweight middleweight, tipping the scales at just 185 kilograms.

The 800NK comes equipped with KYB adjustable suspension in the front and rear, J.Juan calipers and brake masters, and a large eight-inch full-color TFT panel for its gauge cluster that includes smartphone pairing as one of its features.

According to CFMOTO, the Malaysian market will only get one trim level of the 800NK, and the model that the country gets has all the top-shelf stuff. Priced at RM38,888 the 800 NK is one of the best values in the market compared to its other rivals.

Namun, kapsyen pula menyebut “A New Adventure Awaits” yang memberi bayangan kepada ketibaan sebuah motosikal adventure baharu.

CFMoto officially introduced the highly-anticipated CFMoto 450NK in the Philippines. Following its initial launch in China just a couple of months ago, this naked sport bike has now landed in the archipelago, marking a significant step for CFMoto’s expansion into South-East Asian markets.

  • the 450NK replaces the 400NK and is powered by the same parallel-twin engine with 270-degree crank found in the 450SR.
  • the 450NK follows the same design language as the bigger 800NK.

*the new 450NK replaces the 400NK.

Replacing its predecessor, the popular 400NK, the CFMoto 450NK presents an impressive blend of style, performance, and innovation, aiming to raise the bar in the competitive SEA motorcycle scene.

This move comes on the heels of the successful progression of CFMoto’s NK lineup, evolving from the 400NK and its larger sibling, the 650NK, to the latest 800NK. Now, the 450NK takes center stage, inheriting several features from the 450SR, showcasing the brand’s commitment to continuous improvement.

Design-wise, the 450NK draws inspiration from its predecessor, the 800NK, boasting a revamped headlight, bold fairings that exude aggression, and a striking color palette. Its tail design shares similarities with the 250 and 450SR models, tailored to complement the bike’s overall proportions and distinctive aesthetics.

Under the hood, the 450NK mirrors the performance DNA of the 800NK, sporting a parallel-twin engine with a similar firing order. With a 270-degree crankshaft, the engine delivers a robust power output of 46.9hp and 39Nm. Its 449cc displacement pairs with a six-speed transmission featuring a slipper clutch, ensuring a seamless and exhilarating riding experience.

The 450NK finds balance on a compact wheelbase of just 1,370mm. The accessible seat height of 795mm accommodates a diverse range of riders. Despite its muscular performance, the bike maintains a manageable curb weight of 165kg.

Suspension duties are entrusted to KYB, featuring an upside-down telescopic fork at the front and a central mono-shock at the rear. Braking confidence is ensured through a 320-millimeter single disc equipped with a J.Juan four-piston calliper, complemented by a 220mm single disc rear brake with a single-piston calliper. Notably, CFMoto prioritizes safety by incorporating anti-lock brakes (ABS) as standard, alongside a traction control system for added stability.

As the CFMoto 450NK accelerates into the Philippine market, we are sure that the new sport naked will make it’s way to Malaysia soon probably by the end of the year.

R&G, the renowned motorcycle accessory manufacturer, is expanding its product lineup to cater to CFMoto’s 450 SR (also known as the 450 SS in some countries).

  • This move comes in response to the growing popularity of CFMoto’s super sport bike, which has garnered attention in the United States and gained significant traction across Europe.
  • Recognizing the need for enhanced safety, R&G is stepping in to provide riders with essential accessories.

For motorcycle enthusiasts, accessories and support can often be decisive factors when making a purchase. CFMoto 450 SS owners, as well as prospective buyers, will now have access to a wide array of R&G’s offerings designed specifically for this model.

The British accessory maker has developed an extensive range of equipment to safeguard the bike from potential accidents, including Bar-End Sliders, Fork Protectors, Lever Guards, PRO Radiator Guards, Tank Traction Grips, a Fender Eliminator, Dashboard Screen Protector, Blanking Plates, and various other components.

The CFMoto 450 SR has already established itself as an exceptional bike within its class. Competing against the likes of the Kawasaki Ninja 400 and other Japanese counterparts, the 450 SR is poised to become CFMoto’s flagship model.

Simon Hughes, the managing director of R&G, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration.

“We are excited to introduce our cutting-edge range of crash protection and accessories for the CFMoto 450 SS. Owners can now ride with confidence, knowing they have equipped their motorcycles with industry-leading protection and personalized touches that reflect their unique style and preferences,” he said.

Despite making its global introduction just a couple of months ago, the all-new CFMoto Papio XO-1 officially make its way to Malaysia at the 2023 Malaysia Autoshow.

  • The Papio XO-1 is a mini-bike inspired by the neo-retro sportsbikes from the 80’s.
  • Powering the Papio XO-1 is a 125cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected engine.

The latest addition to CFMoto Malaysia line-up is the Papio XO-1 mini-bike, a neo-retro sportbike-style machine based on the existing Papio ST-125. The Papio XO-1 is not just a fun ride for beginners, but a stylish machine that will appeal to younger motorcycle enthusiasts.

The Papio XO-1’s 125cc, liquid-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine pumps out 9.5 horsepower at 8,500 rpm, and 5.8 pound-feet of torque at 6,500 rpm, providing a performance similar to that of a Honda Grom. However, it’s the bike’s style that really sets it apart.

The twin LED headlamps are symmetrical but feature a different bulb pattern, with the right headlamp sporting an “X” design, which adds to the bike’s custom, cartoonish appeal. The twin taillights at the rear are housed beneath shutters, just above the centrally-mounted tail-exit exhaust, giving the bike a unique retro look.

Other notable features include, a combination of circular analogue meter with digital LCD screen, 7L fuel tank, dual-channel ABS, 210mm front and 190mm rear disc, full LED lights and bar-end mirrors.

Priced at RM8,888, the addition of the Papio XO-1 mini-bike is available in three exciting colours; Nebula White, Fiery Red, and Moss Green.

CFMoto, the Chinese motorcycle brand, is reportedly developing an all-new suspension setup similar to BMW’s Duolever.

  • the new suspension system could be used on CFMoto upcoming touring and naked motorcycles.
  • the Hossack-style fork shows that CFMoto is exploring wider possibilities in creating a motorcycle that’s on par with established machinery.

The setup is a girder-style fork suspension and is expected to be incorporated into the new CFMoto model. The suspension technology was first developed by British engineer Norman Hossack in the 1970s and has since been adopted by BMW and Honda for their touring bikes.

The use of the girder-style fork suspension on the 1250TR-G is intended to broaden the spread of suspension geometry and separate braking and suspension forces, allowing for relatively soft suspension without suffering from too much dive during braking. The use of a single shock absorber also makes it easier to adopt technology like adaptive damping or electronic control preload adjustment.

CFMoto’s new suspension setup is expected to narrow the gap in quality and technology held by more established Japanese, European, and American motorcycle brands. The company has already begun exporting 800cc models all over the world. The 1250TR-G uses a 140 hp, 1,279cc V-twin engine that is derived from a KTM design but heavily altered by CFMoto.

The new suspension technology is expected to form the basis of an upcoming 1250NK streetfighter model, which was inspired by the 2017 V.02-NK concept and first seen in patents filed earlier this year. While the 1250TR-G is currently only sold in China, its technology is already at levels that would be more than acceptable globally.

In 2021, KTM made waves with the debut of the 890 Adventure and 890 Adventure R, effectively rendering the existing 790 Adventure lineup obsolete.

  • KTM and CFMoto teamed up to bring the up-spec KTM 790 Adventure R.
  • The KTM 790 Adventure R to feature new chassis and styling.

However, the Austrian OEM has since revived the base model 790 Adventure in 2023 as a budget-conscious alternative to its big-bore cousin. Now, KTM and CFMoto are partnering on a project to bring back the up-spec 790 Adventure R.

According to type-approval documents filed in China, the KTM and CFMoto partnership plans to revive the 790 Adventure R with new chassis and styling accommodations. The prototype image included in the documents confirms that the off-road-biased variant will sport robust 48mm WP XPLOR suspension, a high-mounted front fender, and aggressive semi-knobby tires.

While the filings don’t indicate the model’s performance figures, we anticipate the R trim to retain the standard model’s 94 horsepower and 87Nm of torque. However, without its windshield and a KTMR2R sticker plastered to its front panel, the project looks very much in progress.

As such, KTM and CFMoto could still make changes before the 790 Adventure R returns to the market.

The 790 Adventure R is expected to set itself apart from the base model 790 Adventure and the 890 Adventure R with its off-road-biased features. Given previous iterations of the 790 Adventure R and the existing 890 Adventure R, adventure riders can expect a capable and rugged machine.

KTM’s decision to partner with CFMoto for production could also make the resurrected ADV more affordable for adventure riders. The Chinese manufacturer’s experience in production and cost-effective processes could help keep the price competitive.

Overall, the 790 Adventure R’s return is exciting news for adventure riders looking for a more budget-friendly, off-road-capable bike. While we await an official unveiling from KTM, the type-approval documents provide a tantalizing glimpse into what riders can expect from the revived model.
