Hong Leong Yamaha Motor Sdn Bhd (HLYM) have just announced the basic selling price of the upcoming Yamaha NMax scooter.

Available via authorised dealers nationwide starting April onwards, the Yamaha NMax carries a basic selling price of RM8,812.14 (6% GST inclusive without road tax, insurance and registration). This is significantly lower than our initial expectation of around RM10,000.

HLYM previewed the new scooter model earlier this year during its annual Chinese New Year gathering in Genting. The Yamaha NMax is assembled locally and will be available in two colour schemes – Red or Silver.

The NMax is powered by a liquid-cooled 155cc single-cylinder SOHC four-stroke engine primed with fuel injection. Developing nearly 15hp @ 8,000rpm and peak torque of 14.4Nm @ 6,000rpm, all power is sent to the rear via a CVT-type automatic transmission.

The powertrain is enveloped within an underbone chassis construction with a rear swingarm connected to it. The chassis is primed with a pair of telescopic front forks set and a twin-tower rear shocks that promises better comforts and handling abilities against its rivals. Other features include a set of stylish 13-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 110/70-sized (front) and a 130/70-sized (rear) tyres.

The Yamaha NMax also boasts a large 6.6-litre fuel tank, all-round disc brakes measuring that measures 230mm front and aft, a digital instrument display, a large under-seat storage bin, as well as a LED daytime running lights and taillights.

Purchases and bookings can be made via authorised dealers nationwide starting next month.
