Affected by Cold Weather, Qabil Irfan Remains Positive

Malaysia’s young rider Qabil Irfan Azlan said his debut in the 2024 Spanish Superbike Championship (ESBK) at the Jerez Circuit was affected by cold weather and a slippery track, but he saw it as a positive development.

The 2023 MiniGP World Series Championship world champion finished Race 1 in a good sixth place.

Unfortunately, the slippery circuit conditions due to the cold weather resulted in a more challenging Race 2 for Qabil.

“I’m not very happy with this result (Race 2) because I’m not good with the bike. The circuit was slippery, cold and the tires slid. I also need to improve my riding style during the race that took place in cold weather,” said Qabil.

Regardless, Qabil and his ZK Racing manager, Zulfahmi Khairuddin will improve their performance in the second round of the season which will take place at the Valencia Circuit from May 30 to June 2.

“Our purpose in coming here is to give Qabil an early experience of racing in Europe. The result in Race 1 is a proud result while the result for Race 2 is a valuable experience for us to improve on in the next round.

“All week here Qabil spent the session in ninth and 10th place but in the race, Qabil was with the front group competing for the podium. Qabil finished Race 1 in sixth place.

“But, for Race 2 it was a difficult race for Qabil. He didn’t feel confident with the bike, the circuit felt slippery from the first lap until the end of the race because of the cold weather.

“This is a good experience for Qabil and the team. We will return to Malaysia to train well for round 2 in Valencia,” said Zulfahmi.

Prestasi Terjejas Akibat Sejuk, Qabil Irfan Tetap Positif

Pelumba muda negara, Qabil Irfan Azlan berkata penampilan sulungnya di Kejuaraan Superbike Sepanyol (ESBK) 2024 di Litar Jerez terjejas akibat cuaca sejuk dan trek yang licin, namun dia menggangapnya sebagai sesuatu yang positif.

Juara dunia Kejuaraan Siri Dunia MiniGP 2023 itu menamatkan Perlumbaan 1 dengan keputusan yang baik di tempat keenam.

Sayangnya, keadaan litar yang licin disebabkan oleh cuaca sejuk mengakibatkan Perlumbaan 2 yang lebih mencabar buat Qabil.

“Saya tidak berapa gembira dengan keputusan ini (Perlumbaan 2) kerana saya tidak bagus dengan motosikal. Litar licin, sejuk dan tayar slide (membuang). Saya juga perlu perbaiki lagi corak tunggangan ketika perlumbaan yang berlangsung dalam cuaca sejuk,” kata Qabil.

Apapun, Qabil dan pihak pengurusannya ZK Racing, Zulfahmi Khairuddin akan memperbaikki prestasi pada pusingan kedua musim yang akan berlangsung di Litar Valencia dari 30 Mei hingga 2 Jun ini.

“Tujuan kita datang ke sini adalah untuk memberi pengalaman awal kepada Qabil berlumba di Eropah. Keputusan pada Perlumbaan 1 adalah keputusan yang membanggakan manakala keputusan untuk Perlumbaan 2 adalah pengalaman yang berharga untuk kita perbaiki pada pusingan yang akan datang.

“Sepanjang minggu di sini Qabil menghabiskan sesi di tempat kesembilan dan ke-10 tetapi pada perlumbaan, Qabil berada bersama kelompok hadapan bersaing untuk podium. Qabil menghabiskan Perlumbaan 1 di tempat keenam.

“Tetapi, untuk Perlumbaan 2 adalah satu perlumbaan yang sukar buat Qabil. Dia tidak berasa yakin dengan motosikal, litar rasa licin dari pusingan pertama sehinggalah akhir perlumbaan kerana cuaca sejuk.

“Ini adalah pengalaman yang bagus untuk Qabil dan pasukan. Kita akan pulang ke Malaysia untuk berlatih sebaiknya untuk pusingan 2 di Valencia,” kata Zulfahmi.

30 Students Nabbed during Anti Road Hooligan Ops

Despite the many cases of deaths, injuries and arrests, 30 secondary school students were among the 178 individuals arrested by the police in a combined Anti Hooligan Ops at Jalan Jelapang, near Ipoh.

The operation started at 2.30 in the morning and was carried out by a team of 72 officers and members of the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department (JSPT) of the Ipoh District Police Headquarters (IPD) together with the Perak National Anti-Drug Agency (AADK).

Ipoh District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said, those arrested for various offenses consisted of 166 men and 12 women aged between 15 and 34 years.

“Among those arrested were 30 secondary school students and four students of higher education institutes (IPT).

“Of the 143 motorcycles detained, a total of 19 were confiscated for various offences, the most serious of which was modifying vehicles in accordance with Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and a total of 302 summonses were issued to road users,” he said.

Apart from that, there were also some individuals who are high. The result of a urine screening test conducted by AADK found that five individuals tested positive for drugs, one of whom had been arrested for the same offence last year.

“The Narcotics Crime Investigation Division of IPD Ipoh and AADK will take further action on the five individuals.

“This operation was planned for the purpose of combating the activities of road hooligans for which the police have received many complaints from residents for disturbing public order,” he said.

30 Pelajar Ditahan dalam Ops Samseng Jalanan

Seperti tidak serik-serik juga walaupun sudah banyak kes kematian, kecederaan dan penangkapan, 30 pelajar sekolah menengah antara 178 individu yang ditahan polis dalam Ops Bersepadu Samseng Jalanan di Jalan Jelapang, berdekatan Ipoh.

Operasi bermula 2.30 pagi itu dijalankan sepasukan 72 pegawai dan anggota Jabatan Siasatan dan Penguatkuasaan Trafik (JSPT) Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah (IPD) Ipoh bersama Agensi Antidadah Kebangsaan (AADK) Perak.

Ketua Polis Daerah Ipoh, Asisten Komisioner Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad berkata, mereka yang ditahan atas pelbagai kesalahan terdiri daripada 166 lelaki dan 12 perempuan berusia antara 15 hingga 34 tahun.

“Antara yang ditahan ialah 30 pelajar sekolah menengah dan empat penuntut institut pengajian tinggi (IPT).

“Daripada 143 motosikal yang ditahan, sejumlah 19 motosikal disita atas pelbagai kesalahan termasuk paling serius ialah mengubahsuai kenderaan mengikut Seksyen 64(1) Akta Pengangkutan Jalan 1987 dan sebanyak 302 saman dikeluarkan kepada pengguna jalan raya,” katanya.

Selain daripada itu, terdapat juga beberapa individu yang sedang khayal. Hasil ujian saringan air kencing yang dijalankan oleh AADK mendapati lima individu positif dadah dengan seorang daripadanya pernah ditahan atas kesalahan sama tahun lalu.

“Lima individu itu akan diambil tindakan seterusnya oleh Bahagian Siasatan Jenayah Narkotik IPD Ipoh dan AADK.

“Operasi ini dirancang bagi tujuan membanteras aktiviti samseng jalanan yang mana pihak polis mendapat banyak aduan daripada penduduk kerana ganggu ketenteraman awam,” katanya.

20 Summonses, 3 Confiscation for Exhaust Modifications

A total of 20 summonses were issued and 3 motorcycles confiscated for the offence of modifying the motorcycle’s exhaust in the Operasi Motosikal (Motorcycle Operation) in the Bukit Ampang Saujana area, yesterday (7th April 2024).

Ampang Jaya District Police Chief, Assistant Commissioner Mohd Azam Ismail said, the operation from 11pm to 3am was carried out by the Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division of the Ampang Jaya District Police Headquarters (IPD) with a senior officer and 14 members.

According to him, the operations focused more on motorcycles, as usual.

“This is because the vehicle is often seen with structural modifications, especially on the exhaust which disturbs public order.

“As a result of the operation, a total of six individuals were checked along with six vehicles and a total of 20 summonses were issued for common offences such as driving without a valid license, registration number not in accordance with specifications, modification of the exhaust and also other offences,” he said.

He said, in addition, three motorbikes were confiscated in accordance with Section 64(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 and Section 6(4) of the same act for making extreme modifications to the exhaust and the brakes not working.

“The seized vehicle was brought back to the Ampang Traffic Police Station for further action.

“The celebration of Hari Raya Aidilfitri will arrive soon, therefore the next of kin and guardians are reminded to monitor the children’s activities more closely,” he said.

20 Saman, 3 Motosikal Disaman Ubah Suai Ekzos

Sebanyak 20 saman dan 3 motosikal disita atas kesalahan mengubahsuai ekzos motosikal dalam Operasi Motosikal di kawasan Bukit Ampang Saujana, semalam (7hb. April 2024).

Ketua Polis Daerah Ampang Jaya, Asisten Komisioner Mohd Azam Ismail berkata, operasi bermula 11 malam hingga 3 pagi itu dilakukan Bahagian Siasatan dan Penguatkuasaan Trafik Ibu Pejabat Polis Daerah (IPD) Ampang Jaya dengan dianggotai seorang pegawai kanan dan 14 anggota.

Menurutnya, operasi terbabit seperti kebiasaannya lebih memfokuskan kepada kenderaan jenis motosikal.

“Ini kerana kenderaan berkenaan sering kali dilihat melakukan pengubahsuaian struktur, terutamanya pada struktur ekzos motosikal yang mengganggu ketenteraman awam.

CFMoto 1250MT Dilaporkan sedang Dibangunkan

Motosikal CFMoto 1250MT dilaporkan sedang dibangunkan.

CFMoto merupakan rakan kongsi KTM dalam penghasilan enjin untuk beberapa model, iaitu siri 790 dan 890. Namun model yang tidak ada di dalam banjaran CFMoto ialah motosikal adventure kelas besar. Itu mungkin akan berubah kerana 1250MT ini akan menggunakan enjin yang sedang digunakan di dalam model pengembaraan 1250TR-G. Enjin itu merupakan jenis LC8 V-Twin daripada KTM 1290 Super Duke dan Super Adventure sebelumnya.

Menurut sumber, versi CFMoto bagi LC8 dikecilkan kepada 1279cc daripada 1301cc. Ia menghasilkan 140hp seperti yang terdapat pada 1250TR-G untuk menyaingi BMW R 1300 GS dan Triumph Tiger 1200. Terdapat juga khabar bahawa 1250MT akan memberi tumpuan jalan sahaja, tidak seperti KTM 1290/1390 Super Adventure yang mempunyai dua varian – satu untuk jalan raya, satu lagi untuk off-road.

Walaupun gambar itu dari CFMoto, tiada apa-apa yang disahkan setakat ini. Apapun, ia seharusnya menampilkan semua yang ciri terdapat pada KTM termasuk mod tunggangan, kawalan cengkaman, ABS selekoh, lampu selekoh, quickshifter, skrin TFT dengan sambungan telefon pintar, dll.

Perlu dikatakan bahawa beberapa pengeluar motosikal China menyasarkan pasaran dunia dan telah beralih daripada salinan murah pakai-buang. Industri automotif negara, terutamanya untuk EV kini mencabar yang terbaik yang boleh ditawarkan oleh dunia. Ia hanya masalah masa.

CFMoto 1250MT Reportedly Being Developed

A CFMoto 1250MT is reportedly being developed.

CFMoto is KTM’s partner in producing the engines for several of the latter’s models, namely the 790 and 890 series. What is missing from CFMoto’s lineup is a heavyweight adventure bike. That may be about to change, since their 1250TR-G tourer is already using KTM’s LC8 V-Twin from the previous 1290 Super Duke and Super Adventure.

According to sources, CFMoto’s version of the LC8 is downsized to 1279cc from 1301cc. It produces 140hp in the 1250TR-G guise to rival the BMW R 1300 GS and Triumph Tiger 1200. There is also word that the 1250MT will be road focused only, unlike the KTM 1290/1390 Super Adventure which has two variants.

Nothing is confirmed thus far, although the picture is from CFMoto. As such, it should feature all that are available on the KTM including ride modes, traction control, cornering ABS, cornering lights, quickshifter, TFT screen with smartphone connectivity, etc.

It has to be said that several Chinese motorcycle manufacturers are aiming for the world markets and have moved away from throwaway cheap copies. The country’s automotive industry, especially for EVs is now challenging the best the world could offer. It is just a matter of time.

No Recording TikTok Videos while Driving – Warns JPJ

The Road Transport Department (JPJ) warned that they will take action against road users who were reported or detected recording TikTok videos while driving.

The department said this regarding the actions of an express bus driver who was spotted making live recordings through the TikTok application while driving. JPJ will take immediate action against the driver.

JPJ’s Senior Director of Enforcement, Datuk Lokman Jamaan, said his side will place undercover officers in every express bus to ensure that no driver commits the offence.

In addition, he said, the cooperation of the public in recording videos or photos of drivers who act in this way is also welcome.” They can send it to us along with the date and location of the trip to make it easier for us to take action.

“Previously, there have been cases like this but for Ops HRA this time, no complaints have been received so far.

“If they are found to have committed the offence, they can be taken action immediately. However, the journey can still continue,” he added.

During the operation, he also inspected the express bus using special equipment to ensure that the tire thickness was not bald, and that the traffic lights were in good condition.

Jangan Rakam Video TikTok Ketika Memandu – Amaran JPJ

Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan (JPJ) memberi amaran mereka akan mengambil tindakan terhadap pengguna jalan raya yang dilaporkan atau dikesan merakan video TikTok ketika memandu.

Badan itu berkata demikian berhubung perbuatan seoang pemandu bas ekspres yang dikesan membuat rakaman langsung melalui aplikasi TikTok ketika memandu. JPJ akan mengambil tindakan serta-merta terhadap pemandu tersebut.

Pengarah Kanan Penguat Kuasa JPJ, Datuk Lokman Jamaan, berkata pihaknya akan menempatkan pegawai penyamaran di dalam setiap bas ekspres bagi memastikan tiada pemandu yang melakukan kesalahan itu.

Selain itu, beliau berkata, kerjasama orang awam merakam video atau gambar pemandu yang bertindak sedemikian juga dialu-alukan.”Mereka boleh menghantarkannya kepada kami berserta tarikh dan lokasi perjalanan bagi memudahkan pihak kami mengambil tindakan.

“Sebelum ini, memang ada kes seperti ini tetapi untuk Ops HRA kali ini, belum ada aduan diterima setakat ini.

“Jika dikesan melakukan kesalahan itu, mereka boleh diambil tindakan terus. Bagaimanapun, perjalanan tetap boleh diteruskan,” katanya lagi.

Pada operasi itu, beliau turut melakukan pemeriksaan pada bas ekspres menggunakan peralatan khusus bagi memastikan ketebalan tayar supaya tidak botak, selain lampu isyarat berada dalam keadaan baik.

Suzuki V-Strom 800RE telah dilancarkan tahun lepas sebagai varian atas jalan bagi barisan V-Strom 800, manakala saudaranya, V-Strom 800DE ialah versi pengembaraan yang tertumpu kepada off-road.

Seperti namanya, Tour mementingkan pembawaan untuk perjalanan jarak jauh. Ia termasuk boks atas 38 liter dan dua boks sisi 37 liter untuk jumlah 112 liter.

Ya, ya, boks tersebut bukanlah baharu kerana mereka dijual sebagai pilihan berasingan untuk RE standard. Cuma harga boks-boks itu lebih rendah apabila anda membeli pakej V-Strom 800RE Tour. Satu set boks sisi berharga £938 (RM5,627.53) manakala boks atas berharga £515 (RM3,089.74), sekiranya dibeli berasingan untuk versi standard. Aduh.

Jadi, Suzuki meletakkan harga V-Strom 800RE Tour pada £11,199 (RM67,188.40) berbanding versi standard pada £9,699 (RM58,189.15). Oleh itu, anda menjimatkan £706.94 (RM4,241.29) untuk boks-boks tersebut.

Terdapat dua warna untuk boks tersebut iaitu warna hitam atau perak. Namun, V-Strom 800RE Tour masih dijual dalam warna yang sama dipanggil Pearl Vigor Blue, Metallic Matt Steel Green, dan Glass Sparkle Black yang sama seperti RE standard.

Semua ciri kekal sama antara edisi standard dan Tour.

The Suzuki V-Strom 800RE Tour variant has been launched, adding extra luggage for your er… tour.

The Suzuki V-Strom 800RE was launched last year as a road-biased variant of the V-Strom 800 lineup, while its brethern, the V-Strom 800 DE is the off-road focused adventure version.

As the name suggests, the Tour places importance of carrying everything but the kitchen sink on long distance rides. It includes a 38-liter top box and two 37-liter side cases for a total of 112 litres.

Yes, yes, these cases are not new as they are sold as separate options for the standard RE. It is just that the boxes are priced lower when you buy the V-Strom 800RE Tour package. A set side cases cost £938 (RM5,627.53) while the top case sets you back £515 (RM3,089.74), when purchased as options. Ouch.

So, Suzuki priced the V-Strom 800RE Tour at £11,199 (RM67,188.40) compared to the standard version at £9,699 (RM58,189.15). Therefore, you save £706.94 (RM4,241.29) on the cases.

In any case (no pun intended), the cases come in red or silver. The bike is still sold in the same colours called Pearl Vigour Blue, Metallic Matt Steel Green, and Glass Sparkle Black as the standard RE.

All features remain the same between the standard and Tour editions.

Only thing is: Will Suzuki sell the Tour version in Malaysia?
