Francesco Bagnaia produced a dazzling display to record his third win MotoGP win of the season as the race was cut short due to a red flag incident involving Iker Lecuona and Miguel Oliveira.

The Ducati Corse rider was on top of his game in Portimao, leading every lap around the circuit since the start of the race.

Despite a bad start that saw teammate Jack Miller take the lead from Bagnaia, the Australian lead lasted just one corner as Bagnaia repassed Miller at Turn 2.

Bagnaia was leading the race comfortably ahead of Joan Mir and Miller with just five laps to go.

Shortly after that, Lecuona crashed into Oliveira, which resulted in a red flag.

The red flag means Bagnaia recorded his third premier class win while Mir and Miller completed the podium.

“I’m thrilled! We deserved this pole position, as in the Portuguese GP, our lap time got cancelled due to the yellow flags.

“I was improving again on the last lap, but unfortunately, I made a mistake in the last sector and went wide. We are strong this weekend; we tried both the medium and hard tyre, and we were pretty competitive with both.

“Today was cool and windy, but tomorrow the conditions should be better, so tomorrow morning we’ll evaluate what our final tyre choice will be for the race,” said Bagnaia.

Meanwhile, the success of Bagnaia and Miller alongside fellow Ducati’s Johann Zarco, Jorge Martin and Enea Bastianini has helped the Italian firm to be crowned back-to-back 2021 MotoGP Constructors World Champion.

Ducati secured a total of 21 podiums this season.

Despite most motorcycle manufacturers still feeling the ripple effect of the Covid-19 lockdown, the situation might worsen due to magnesium shortages.

Magnesium is a vital material for chassis construction for every two-wheel manufacturer.

Currently, China is the world biggest magnesium supplier with 95 per cent of the Continent magnesium; however, due to the shortage, China has stopped exporting the material since September 2021.

The European Association of Motorcycle Manufacturers (ACEM) is also worried the situation could cripple the industry as manufacturers are still struggling with the shortage of semiconductors.

KTM, Husqvarna and Bajaj are among the motorcycle giants affected by the crisis as the companies reported slower growth rates in 2021.

Triumph Motorcycles has shed some light on the upcoming Tiger 1200 ahead of its official launch.

The Tiger 1200 is set to join the recently launched Tiger 660 and the already available Tiger 900.

The latest images by the folks at Hinckley revealed a clear redesign of the Tiger 1200 but still maintaining the same identity as the previous generation.

While this is not our first insight into the new Tiger 1200, the new images provide a better look into the upcoming ADV bike.

What we realized is that the new Tiger 1200 appears to have slimmer bodywork than its predecessor.

Despite no further details being revealed, Triumph already confirmed that the 1200cc bike will be available in a T-Plane configuration like the Tiger 900.

The result is a thumpy power delivery at low rpm similar to a V-Twin.

Moto Guzzi is set to unveil the next-generation V7, as confirmed by the latest spy shot.

As the Italian firm celebrates its 100 years anniversary, the V7 has been the most popular Moto Guzzi range since its introduction in 2021.

While the V7 has now expanded to nine models in total, it has always offered the same retro-classic element.

However, things might change with the new V7 successor spied testing on the street in Italy.

The latest spy shot did not give away too much detail; however, we can clearly see a more modern silhouette compared to the previous generation of the V7.

While it may just be a tactic by the Italian firm to hide the real detail, we can confirm the front headlight appears smaller and compact in design.

Nonetheless, with EICMA just around the corner, the new V7 could make a surprise appearance alongside the already confirmed V100 Mandello.

Aprilia has finally provided us with detailed insight into the all-new Tuareg 660 two months after its global sneak preview.

Powered by the same liquid-cooled DOHC 660cc parallel twin with 270-degree crank found in the RS 660 and Tuono 660, the Tuareg 660 gets 80hp and 70Nm.

Despite the detuned engine, the Tuareg only weighs around 186 kilograms thanks to the collective effort of using the parallel-twin engine as the stressed member of the tubular steel frame.

As previously mentioned, the Tuareg 660 offers off-road ergonomics like the Yamaha Tenere 700 with wide handlebars and narrow midsection.

It also features an adjustable 43mm USD fork and monoshock with progressive linkage that offers 9.5″ off the ground.

The bike also comes equipped with a 21″ front wheel and an 18″ rear wheel paired with tubeless tyres.

Other notable features include:

  • full LED light setup
  • Brembo brakes
  • 18L tank
  • Aprilia Performance Ride Control (APRC)
  • traction control
  • riding modes
  • engine brake settings
  • cruise control
  • 5″ TFT display

Aprilia adds two new colours to the range, with Acid Gold and Martian Red joining the iconic blue/white/red colour scheme.

According to the Italian firm, the Tuareg 660 will hit showrooms worldwide by February 2022.

Boon Siew Honda has officially launched the all-new Honda RS-X (known as Winner-X in Vietnam) for the Malaysian market.

Unlike the previous RS that adopts the essential moped looks, the RS-X focused on sports styling and an aerodynamically designed full cowl appearance with dual LED headlights.

The RS-X makes 15.8hp @ 9,000rpmm and 13.6Nm @ 7,000rpm from its Euro4 150cc liquid-cooled DOHC engine, the exact power figure you get from the previous generation RS.

Nonetheless, the most notable change is the introduction of a single-channel Anti-lock Braking System (ABS), which allows riders to get a better grip of the bike during various conditions.

Other notable features include:

  • Honda seat opener
  • sealed chain drive
  • full digital speedometer
  • telescopic front fork
  • 17″ wheel
  • 4.5L tank

Meanwhile, you also get a well-designed exhaust that looks similar to the one you find on a bigger bike which Honda claimed also delivers an improved exhaust note.

According to Boon Siew Honda, the RS-X is available in three exciting colours, Trico Edition, Candy Caribbean Blue Sea, and Lemon Ice Yellow, priced at RM8,688.

Ducati Malaysia awarded with the Best Commercial After Sales and Best Marketing Team during the 28th Ducati APAC National Meeting.

“Firstly, I would like to thank my amazing team for pulling out all the stops in achieving such recognition in the eyes of our band principal.

“Throughout all the years of operating, this is the first year ever Ducati Malaysia has received such award.

“These two awards reflect the passion and commitment that we have collectively poured into Next Bike Sdn Bhd to becoming the premier beacon of Ducati for all Malaysians,” said Dennis Michael, Head of Ducati Malaysia.

The Ducati APAC National Meeting is a yearly meeting that revolves around 13 Ducati representative in the Asia Pacific region.

Ducati was recently announced as the official MotoE supplier beginning 2023 to 2026 by Dorna Sports in Misano.

The announcement quickly garnered attention as reports emerged that the big step into MotoE also signals the Italian firm intention to push for electric mobility.

However, in a recent interview, Ducati CEO Claudio Domenicali clarifies the MotoE project will not kickstart an electric production bike anytime soon.

“With the current technology, this is not possible.

“If we were to build an electric bike today, we would need to sacrifice some of the values of our product, like the sporting character and the lightness.

“Or we could do a light sportbike but with a very reduced range. So the idea is to start experimenting,” he said.

Nonetheless, Domenicali insists that the opportunity to provide a proper electric race bike for MotoE will act as a laboratory to study and develop the technology.

“We are interested in using MotoE as a laboratory to study and develop the technology.

“Technology of batteries, inverters, and the electric powertrain is evolving rapidly, and we want to be on the front row to experiment, develop, and be ready when the true race kicks off,” he added.

Interestingly, Ducati’s main objective is to create a lighter MotoE machine as the current race bike is 100 kilograms heavier than the Moto3 bike.

Norton Motorcycles has finally unveiled the updated V4SV, acclaimed to be the most luxury British superbike ever built.

It is the first bike ever produced by Norton after its takeover by India’s motorcycle giant, TVS Motor.

According to Norton, despite no changes from the previous V4SS package, each component has been revised.

The V4SV makes 185hp and 125Nm and is built around a handcrafted aluminium frame.

To ensure the product quality is top-notch, the TVS owned company ran a 12-month test of the V4SS.

The level of luxuries doesn’t stop there, the V4SV also comes equipped with fully adjustable Öhlins USD front forks and Öhlins TXGP adjustable rear shocks, keyless ignition and a 6″ TFT instrument cluster.

You can also choose between aluminium wheels or carbon wheels respectively.

After two years after its concept debut at EICMA, the Husqvarna Norden 901 officially made its bow.

Build based on the KTM 890 Adventure platform, the Norden 901 carries a different styling set than its Austrian cousin.

It has a more extensive body panel than the 890 Adventure, thus making it a proper dual-purpose bike for long-distance touring.

Nonetheless, underneath the fairing sits the same 890cc parallel-twin engine that makes 103hp and 100Nm.

The Norden also features a 21″ front and 18″ rear wheel paired with a tubeless Pirelli Scorpion Rally STR.

Moreover, it also comes equipped with taller suspension travel from the WP APEX suspension setup, 215mm and 220mm, as opposed to KTM’s 200mm.

If you fancy some electronics, the ADV bike comes with three standard riding modes (Rain, Street and Off-Road) but should you fancy ‘exploring the world’, Husqvarna offers the option “Explore” mode. (Which we thinks is another fancy name for Touring mode).

Other exciting features include:

  • quickshifter
  • slipper clutch
  • traction control
  • cornering ABS (with off-road mode)
  • auxiliary LED lights
  • 19L tank

According to Husqvarna, the Norden 901 will be available as a 2022 model year beginning November.

Ducati Malaysia invited a group of 22 riders from BMW GS Owners Club Malaysia to get up close and personal with the all-new Ducati Multistrada V4 S on Saturday.

The initiative was to allow every owner from other major brands to try out the new adventure bike capabilities, including understanding the electronics and features and radar sensor technology.

Also present was an automotive celebrity, Hezeri Samsuri from Careta, who owns the BMW F 850 GS.

The new Ducati Multistrada V4 S is the all-new adventure bike introduced globally in November last year and quickly garnered attention as the best ADV bike instead of the ever-popular BMW R 1250 GS range.

The Multistrada V4 is available in two variants, V4 and V4 S, priced at RM135,900 and RM146,900, respectively.
