Yamaha M1

Tidak dinafikan, prestasi Fabio Quartararo kebelakangan ini kurang memberangsangkan.

Meskipun masih lagi mendahului kejuaraan dunia MotoGP selepas 13 pusingan, namun tekanan yang diberikan pelumba Ducati, Francesco Bagnaia, semakin dirasai apabila pelumba Itali mencatatkan empat kemenangan berturut-turut baru-baru ini.

Ini menjadikan Bagnaia telah pun menang enam daripada 13 pusingan setakat ini.

Senario itu berlaku ekoran kegagalan jentera Yamaha M1 memberi saingan terhadap kelajuan Ducati GP 22 yang dipacu Bagnaia. Sewaktu di GP San Marino, Quartararo terpaksa berpuas hati di tempat ke-5 dengan tiga jentera Ducati berada di hadapannya. 

Juara dunia MotoGP musim lalu itu sebelum ini telah pun membangkitkan isu ‘top speed’ M1 pada permulaan musim 2022 namun setakat ujian ‘Winter Test’ di Sepang, Quartararo akui masih tidak berpuas hati dengan kemampuan jenteranya. 

Bagaimanapun, Misano Test yang sedang berlangsung ketika ini akhirnya menghadirkan keputusan positif buat Quartararo, yang meluahkan rasa berpuas hati dengan prestasi jenteranya.

Ketika hari terakhir Misano Test, Quartararo merekodkan kelajuan terpantas kedua tertinggi dengan catatan 298.3km/j sewaktu menguji enjin prototaip terbaru Yamaha. Sementara itu, Jorge Martin merekodkan kelajuan tertinggi dengan 300km/j.

Meskipun mendapat bantuan ‘slipstream’ daripada rakan sepasukan Franco Morbidelli, namun pelumba Perancis itu tetap berpuas hati dengan prestasi semasa apatah lagi ketika di GP San Marino, Quartararo hanyalah ke-20 terpantas di litar. 

“Pagi ini usaha kami terarah pada bahagian elektronik kerana perwatakan jentera (enjin) baharu itu berbeza. 

“Top speed juga sangat baik, jadi saya sangat gembira dengan perkara ini.

“Walaupun dapat bantuan ‘slipstream’ tapi purata kelajuan juga baik (296km/j) berbanding pelumba lain,” jelas Quartararo.

Juara dunia Kejuaraan Dunia Superbike (WorldSBK) 2021, Toprak Razgatlioglu akhirnya berpeluang merasai sendiri kemampuan jentera MotoGP Yamaha YZR-M1 di Litar Motorland Aragon.

Razgatlioglu ditemani pelumba uji Yamaha dan bekas pelumba MotoGP, Cal Crutchlow  sewaktu menjalani beberapa pusingan bersama jentera tersebut.

Selain itu, Razgatlioglu juga pertama kali merasai penggunaan tayar Michelin, selain ‘seamless gearbox’, kuasa lebih tinggi dan elektronik yang berbeza dari jentera WorldSBK R1 miliknya.

Meskipun catatan masa rasmi tidak didedahkan kepada umum namun terdapat laporan mengatakan catatan Razgatlioglu tak jauh dari yang ditetapkan Crutchlow.

“Ini merupakan hari pertama saya merasai jentera MotoGP Yamaha M1 dan sememangnya rasa jauh berbeza dari R1 saya.

“Kuasa lebih tinggi, elektronik jauh berbeza dan ‘seamless gearbox’ adalah perkara baru untuk saya.

“Saya belajar banyak selepas setiap lap kerana bukan mudah untuk menyesuaikan diri dengan jentera MotoGP. Tetapi saya bernasib baik kerana adanya Cal Crutchlow membantu saya dan sering memberikan nasihat,” jelas Razgatlioglu.

Bagaimanapun, tiada tempat untuk Razgatlioglu di pasukan Yamaha MotoGP musim depan tatkala pasukan factory Yamaha akan kehilangan pasukan satelit RNF Racing yang akan beralih ke Aprilia bagi musim 2023.

Ini bermakna, Razgatlioglu akan terus beraksi di WorldSBK sehingga ada tempat untuknya selepas musim 2023.

Rumours of a possible Petronas Yamaha MotoGP team in 2019 have been circulating very recently.

This new Yamaha satellite team is said to contract Hafizh Syahrin together with Jorge Lorenzo.

This new team will help MotoGP to solve a few issues they are currently facing at the moment.

There have been many rumours going around the MotoGP paddock but this particular news might be the biggest one yet, especially to fellow Malaysians. It seems that there might be a possibility of Malaysia running its own MotoGP squad after all in 2019 as a Yamaha satellite team. (more…)

After a blistering MotoGP qualifying session yesterday at the HJC Helmets Grand Prix de France, there’s a huge possibility that Johann Zarco (Monster Yamaha Tech 3) might take his first win in MotoGP. In front of his home crowd, the Frenchman will start tonight’s race in front of his home crowd.

There’s a possibility that Sepang International Circuit (SIC) will run the first-ever Malaysian MotoGP team in 2019.

Rumours have indicated that the folks from SIC are heading to Jerez this weekend to work something out with MotoGP and Yamaha.

SIC might partner up with one of the existing private teams with hopes that they can bring in Hafizh, Yamaha, and some funds along with the deal.

We all know that 2019 will be a major season for the entire MotoGP grid. With the changes and additions satellite bikes and the possible reshuffling of riders, there are also rumours on Sepang International Circuit (SIC) securing the first Malaysian MotoGP team next season. (more…)

Marc VDS is currently caught in choosing between Yamaha and Suzuki as the main machinery for their 2019 MotoGP season.

The move has been sparked by Tech 3 who has confirmed their switch to KTM next season.

Both Yamaha and Suzuki are looking into running satellite teams to speed up their bikes’ development.

It was only last month when MotoGP Tech 3 team announced their switch of machinery from Yamaha to KTM for the year 2019. This monumental shift in the grid has caused quite a stir and it looks like it’s the beginning of many more changes to come. (more…)

Some folks have been asking about Hafizh Syahrin being the first Malaysian MotoGP rider.

After the MotoGP Thai test, it can be safely said that Hafizh is the first Malaysian to ride a modern-day 1,000cc MotoGP bike.

The final confirmation will come from Monster Yamaha Tech3 on whether Hafizh Syahrin will become the first Malaysian MotoGP rider to race in the premier class this season.

It has been quite an amazing week for all Malaysians as Hafizh Syahrin was selected to join the MotoGP pre-season testing at the Buriram International Circuit. Riding the Yamaha M1 for the Monster Yamaha Tech3 squad, Hafizh Syahrin ultimately became the first ever South East Asian rider to ride a proper 1,000cc modern day MotoGP bike. (more…)
