When Harley-Davidson announced their returning models, two of them has received significant upgrades, namely the 2024 Harley-Davidson Street Glide and 2024 Harley-Davidson Road Glide. Both these models got many of the same styling, suspension and electronics upgrades, that were previously only available on the limited edition (read: expensive) CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide.

But let us talk about the Street Glide first.

Highlights of the 2024 Harley-Davidson Street Glide:
  • The heart of the Street Glide is the bigger Milwaukee-Eight 117 (that is 117 cubic inches, or 1917cc to us in the metric world).
  • The new cylinders utilise liquid-cooled heads, along with a new colling system.
  • It is a major upgrade from the previous Milwaukee-Eight 107 (1753cc).
  • The 117ci engine produces 105 hp and 176.3 Nm of torque, which is much healthier than the 86 hp for the 107ci powerplant.

  • Sure, 105 hp from 1.9 liters is not a lot, but consider the engine turning over below 1,500 RPM when cruising at 110 km/h and you will get the idea.
  • However, the 117ci engine does not have the VVT of the CVO’s 121ci (1982cc) engine.
  • Addition of a new infotainment system, with a powerful 200-watt amplifier, powering a pair of fairing-mounted speakers.

  • A huge (ok, gargantuan) 12.3-inch TFT colour touchscreen (the Apple iPad 2’s screen is 12.9-inches for comparison).
  • Riders can select riding modes (Rain, Road, Sport, Custom), interact with the infotainment system, etc. via the TFT screen as the analog buttons on the handlebar have been deleted.
  • Of course, H-D upgraded the bike’s styling too, to well, make it more contemporary, although the fairing retains the legendary batwing and shark nose profiles.
  • The fuel tank has a new shape.
  • The one-piece seat’s padding is improved for long-distance touring.

How much?

The 2024 Harley-Davidson Street Glide sells for USD 25,999 (RM 123,053.27), although the mind-numbing number of taxes will likely drive the price way up.

And my friends wonder why I wish I were rich…

2021 Sportster S Scotland Photo Shoot

The festival’s grand finale was the Harley-Davidson 120th Anniversary Motorcycle Parade on Sunday, which saw 7,000 motorcycles revving their engines as they paraded through Wisconsin Avenue to downtown Milwaukee, concluding at Veterans Park on the lakefront. Enthusiastic crowds gathered along the route, cheering and waving in admiration.

To ensure that all roads led to Milwaukee, Harley-Davidson devised six exhilarating Ride In routes starting from various points across North America, culminating in the Homecoming festivities. Riders had the freedom to join at any point along the routes and ride at their own pace, fostering a sense of camaraderie among fellow H-D enthusiasts.

Moreover, the festival witnessed the consumer debut of the new 2023 Custom Vehicle Operations (CVO) Motorcycles, the CVO Street Glide and CVO Road Glide models, which showcased cutting-edge technology, enhanced rider comfort, and dynamic performance driven by the powerful new Milwaukee-Eight VVT 121 engine. These awe-inspiring motorcycles were showcased at the Harley-Davidson Museum Garage area and available for demos at the Company’s Powertrain Operations facility.

The 2023 Harley-Davidson Homecoming Festival was undoubtedly an unforgettable celebration of motorcycle culture, uniting riders from around the world to commemorate 120 years of the legendary Harley-Davidson brand. As the festival concluded, the anticipation for next year’s event, scheduled for July 25-28, 2024, reached new heights, promising even more excitement and thrills in the years to come.

Harley-Davidson’s foray into the 440cc platform has been a momentous event for motorcycle enthusiasts worldwide.

  • The X440 roadster, with its impressive performance and sleek design, captured the hearts of riders seeking the perfect balance between power and agility.
  • Harley-Davidson is gearing up to introduce the Nightster 440.

The Nightster name is not unfamiliar to Harley-Davidson fans, as the company already offers a larger liquid-cooled Nightster, powered by a 975cc V-twin engine derived from the Pan America’s formidable 1,250cc mill.

This bike proudly sits in Harley’s revered ‘Sport’ lineup, alongside the legendary Sportster series. Now, with the filing of a trademark for the Nightster 440 in India by Hero MotoCorp, we can’t help but speculate what this new model might bring to the table.

The Nightster 440, being the sibling of the X440, is expected to embrace a sportier personality. One key area that is likely to set it apart is the seating position. A slightly more aggressive stance could be expected, inviting riders to embrace the spirit of speed and control.

Additionally, some chassis tweaks might be in store, as early experiences with the X440 have revealed that it lacks sufficient cornering clearance. Harley-Davidson and Hero may be keen to address this to make the Nightster 440 a corner-carving delight.

The air and oil-cooled 440cc engine is anticipated to remain largely unchanged. Nevertheless, Hero might take the liberty to play around with the state-of-tune and gearing to offer a slightly more engaging experience, catering to the sportier nature of the motorcycle. This could result in heightened performance and an adrenaline-pumping ride that enthusiasts crave.

While specifics about the Nightster 440 are yet to be unveiled, it’s not too far-fetched to imagine a bike that boasts the best of both worlds. The power and finesse of the X440 combined with the sporty charm of the Nightster could make for an exhilarating package that will be hard to resist.

Harley-Davidson, in collaboration with Hero MotoCorp, has finally unveiled its highly anticipated motorcycle, the Harley-Davidson X440.

  • This new model aims to attract new riders and budget-conscious individuals with its approachable retro-style design and versatility for city riding.
  • The Harley-Davidson X440 will be available in three variants: Classic, Vivid, and Pinnacle. While all three models share the same foundation, they differ in styling cues and trim options.

The Classic variant, priced at INR229,000 (RM13k), features spoked wheels and monotone colourways, with a blacked-out engine for a sleek appearance. The Vivid model, priced at INR249,000 (RM14k), comes with alloy wheels and two-tone color schemes.

The top-tier Pinnacle variant, retailing at INR269,000 (RM15k), boasts two-tone alloy wheels, striking color combinations with 3D decals, and machined cooling fins for a premium aesthetic.

Under the X440’s chassis lies a 440cc, air-cooled, fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine. Delivering 27 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 26 pound-feet of torque at 4,000 rpm, this motorcycle competes favourably with other retro-style 400cc bikes on the market. Power is transferred to the rear wheel via a six-speed manual transmission, enhanced with an assist slipper clutch for a smoother and more comfortable ride.

Designed to tackle India’s challenging road conditions, the Harley-Davidson X440 features robust and modern underpinnings. It comes equipped with a 43mm  inverted front fork and gas-powered, preload-adjustable twin shocks at the rear.

The bike relies on front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS, provided by Brembo subsidiary ByBre, to ensure reliable stopping power. Additionally, the X440 rides on 18-inch front and 17-inch rear wheels fitted with MRF Zapper Hyke tires.

While the X440’s tech package remains simple, featuring only dual-channel ABS, it does offer a minimalist TFT display pod and a full set of LED lights. Notably, the motorcycle lacks traction control and rider modes, emphasising a back-to-basics approach.

With the launch of the Harley-Davidson X440, the iconic American motorcycle brand aims to tap into the Indian market’s growing demand for affordable and beginner-friendly motorcycles.

Harley-Davidson has partnered with Indian two-wheeler giant Hero MotoCorp to develop a new motorcycle. Recently, images of the upcoming bike were leaked online.

  • The bike’s design and features show major differences from the previously debuted Harley-Davidson X 350.
  • The HD400 is likely compete with rival roadsters like the Royal Enfield Hunter 350, and Honda CB350.

The bike is expected to debut in July 2023 and is likely to be priced competitively, thanks to the partnership’s heavy localization.

The new motorcycle, dubbed the HD400, is a roadster style bike with a unique LED headlight bearing the Harley-Davidson branding. The TFT console displays basic information such as speedometer, odometer, tachometer, and fuel indicator.

The bike has a USD fork and gas-charged dual shock absorber setup, with axial ByBre calipers taking care of braking duties. Interestingly, the bike uses CEAT Zoom Cruz tires seen on the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650.

The engine on the HD400 is expected to be around 400cc, with an air/oil-cooled single unit that revs up to 8,000rpm. This is different from the liquid-cooled parallel twin unit on the Harley-Davidson X 350.

Based on the images, the HD400 is production-ready and likely in the final stages of testing.

The upcoming Harley-Davidson HD400 will compete with other roadster motorcycles in India such as the Royal Enfield Hunter 350 and the Honda CB350RS.

Harley-Davidson’s partnership with Hero MotoCorp will benefit both companies, with the bike maker gaining massively from the partnership’s heavy localization. Overall, the HD400 seems to be an exciting addition to the Harley-Davidson lineup, and fans can’t wait for the official launch.

Harley-Davidson will announce its 2023 motorcycle lineup on 18 January 2023, along with the details of the firm’s Homecoming, a celebration 120 years in the making.

  • Harley-Davidson to reveal its 2023 lineup this month.
  • The lineup likely to include the new Nightster variant, anniversary edition models and the Chinese-made 350cc model.

The full reveal and announcement will be made live via Harley-Davidson.com.

Jochen Zeitz, Chairman, President and CEO of Harley-Davidson, hopes for everyone to celebrate the brand’s rich heritage.

“2023 marks the 120th Anniversary of Harley-Davidson, during which we’ll honour our rich heritage, celebrate with our fans and riding community, and reveal our newest motorcycles and product offerings,

“Please join us as we kick off our 120th Anniversary with exciting new model introductions and a peek at what we have in store for the landmark year ahead,” he said.

While Harley-Davidson is yet to disclose the list of models, recent reports suggest that it will include a special edition Fat Bob 114, Heritage Classic 114, a new Nightster variant, a 2023 CVO lineup and likely a new Icon model.

Interestingly, Harley-Davidson could also introduce the Chinese-made 350cc model based on a new vehicle identification number (VIN) submitted to the US NHTSA, as reported by Motorcycle.com.

Harley-Davidson first announced its partnership with China-based Qianjiang Group back in 2019 as part of a plan to expand its range to smaller-capacity motorcycles.

  • Harley-Davidson to roll out the Chinese-made X350 and X500 in Asia soon.
  • The smaller capacity Harley-Davidson will be built by Zhejiang Jisheng Motor Vehicle Co. Ltd.

Back then, the small Harley was referred to as the 338R, further confirmed by a leaked photo that revealed the side profile of the motorcycle.

However, the latest type-approval filed in China has revealed that not just one but two bikes have been approved for sale in the country with the name X350 and X500.

Accompanying the type-approval document is two photos that showcase the X350 and X500.

Firstly the X350 looks identical to the early sketches Harley showed back in 2019, mainly the flat-track-inspired bodywork.

According to reports, the upcoming X350 shared most of its components from QJMotor’s SRK350 and Benelli’s 302S, including the same 353cc parallel-twin engine.

That said, the document revealed that the X350 makes a good 36hp but tips the scale at 195kg, making it a pretty heavy bike.

In addition, the X350 is also fitted with the same rubber as the 302S, 120/70-17 at the front and 160/60-17 at the rear.

Meanwhile, the X500 features the same frame and engine as Benelli’s Leoncino 500. The X500 makes 47hp and weighs in at 206kg.

Despite being fitted with the same front and rear wheels as the X350, the larger bike features radial-mount callipers and a bigger brake disc similar to the Leoncino 500.

For your information, both of these bikes will be made by Zhejiang Jisheng Motor Vehicle Co. Ltd, a joint venture company set up by Harley-Davidson and Qianjiang in China.

Reports of a middleweight version of the Harley-Davidson Pan America 1250 first emerged earlier this year, with the American firm mistakenly mentioning the model name in its list of accessories.

  • Harley-Davidson to add a new Pan America 975 to its Revolution Max portfolio.
  • The middleweight Pan America will powered by the same engine found in the Nightster.

According to reports, the site listed the fuel cap as being compatible with the RA1250/RA1250S (Pan America 1250/1250S) as well as RA975 and RA975S, with the latter assuming to be the Pan America models powered by the Revolution Max 975cc engine like the one found on the Nightster.

In addition, the NHTSA, who is responsible for overseeing vehicle recalls, already established a dedicated web pages for the RA975 and RA975S.

That said, Harley is likely to informed NHTSA that a smaller version of the existing Pan America 1250 is on its way.

According to latest report, the Pan America 975 could arrived as early as in the first half of 2023.

While there is no official announcement yet coming from the American firm but it is likely that the middleweight version of the Pan America to make an appearance soon.

The 2022 Harley-Davidson Nightster officially unveiled in Malaysia at the 10th Art Of Speed event at MAEPS, Serdang.

  • the Nightster is powered by the new Revolution Max 975T engine.
  • offers a host of electronic riding aids including Harley’s Rider Safety Enhancement package.

The 2022 Nightster runs on the all-new Revolution Max 975T drivetrain and features a host of electronic rider aids.

Optimized for performance while maintaining the Sportster DNA, the new Nightster is fitted with a lightweight chassis that carries a powerful engine tuned for strong mid-range performance making it the perfect cruiser for urban and highway riding.
At the heart of the frame sits a 60-degree V-Twin Revolution Max 975T with liquid-cooled engine capable of pumping 90hp @ 7,500rpm and 95Nm @ 5,750rpm.
Despite the classic silhouette, the Nightster is equipped with modern safety equipment including Harley’s Rider Safety Enhancement, including ABS, rear-wheel control and three riding modes; Road, Sport and Rain.

The Nightster is fitted with (non-adjustable) Showa Dual Bending Valve front forks, preload-adjustable twin shock absorbers, single front and rear disc with axially mounted 4-pot callipers.

Available in Vivid Black, Gunship Grey and Redline Red, the 2022 Nightster is available for a recommended selling price of RM93,900.

Harley-Davidson is resuming production of its motorcycles as of June 6, 2022, ending the two-week production halt.

  • the company issued a production shutdown of two weeks due to a regulatory compliance issue.
  • the temporary halt lasted a few days longer than expected.

Harley-Davidson officially shut its production line for two-weeks beginning May 19, but it lasted a few days longer than its initial plans.

Despite no official announcement from the American company, sources in Wall Street Journal claimed that the factory is back in operation.

The resumption of production is said to be happening at both Menomonee Falls, Wisconsin, and York, Pennsylvania.

On May 19, 2022, Harley-Davidson stated that the company is officially suspending all motorcycles (excluding LiveWire) assembly and shipments due to supply chain issues.
