Triumph Trident 660

The 2025 Triumph Trident 660 Special Edition has been revealed, as a tribute to the IoM TT (Isle of Man TT) Trident which won the races from 1971 to 1975.

Being a special edition, it is resplendent in the historic white, blue and red paint scheme with graphics, complete with number 67. This colour scheme was the colour on the TT-winning bike, dubbed “Slippery Sam.”

However, it is not just a paint scheme as Triumph has added some goodies that are otherwise only available as options. First, there is a colour matched flyscreen on top of the headlamp. Next, an aluminium belly pan underneath the engine, and Triumph Shift Assist quickshifter with auto blipper, as standard.

Other mechanical parts of the 2025 Triumph Trident 660 Special Edition remain unchanged. The engine is a 660cc triple which produces 80 hp at 10,250 RPM and 63.7 Nm of torque at 6,250 RPM. That is a huge 4,000 RPM spread between maximum torque and horsepower, meaning the engine pulls well anywhere in the RPM range!

The forks are still Showa upside-down, non-adjustable members, while the Showa monoshock at the rear is adjustable for preload only. Dual two-piston Nissin calipers up handle braking up front. Even the tyres remain unchanged from the Michelin Road 5.

Electronic features include ABS as standard, ROAD and RAIN riding modes, colour TFT screen, switchable traction control, immobiliser key security system.

Pricing starts from USD 8,595 (RM40,645.76) which is the same price as the standard Trident 660. However, there is different pricing in other countries, as it sells at a slightly higher price in Canada.

2025 Triumph Trident 660 Special Edition or also known as the 2025 Triumph Trident 660 Tribute will definitely make its way to Malaysia.

Only question we have is: Why didn’t Triumph launch a Daytona 660 Tribute instead?

Although the sales of motorcycles in the UK fell for the third consecutive month in June mid-way into 2022, the sales figure still comfortably exceeded the numbers recorded back in 2021.

  • Triumph sold 225 units of the Trident 660 in June 2022.
  • Honda retains the lead with most motorcycle sold in the June.

A total of 63,963 units of motorcycles were sold during the first six months of 2022, exceeding the 58,105 units sold during the same period last year. Despite the downward trend, things are still looking positive for the two-wheels market.

While Honda continue to take top spot of the UK sales charts with 2,200 units sold in June alone, Triumph Motorcycles made the most impressive start to the year, by leapfrogging Yamaha to ranked second as the most popular brand in the country.

In addition, Triumph’s middle-weight  motorcycle, the Trident 660 emerged as the best selling motorcycle with 225 units sold in June.

Thanks to its affordable price tag, the Trident 660 is fast becoming a favourite not just for beginners but also seasoned riders.

In terms of firepower, the all-new Trident comes with a 660cc three-cylinder DOHC liquid-cooled engine that produces a respectable 80hp at 10,250rpm and 64Nm of torque at 6,250rpm. This package offers a punchy power delivery throughout its rev range together with a unique triple-cylinder soundtrack.

A six-speed manual transmission handles all the power delivery to its rear wheel and that is further enhanced with the presence of an assist/slipper clutch. There’s also the addition of a ride-by-wire throttle, selectable riding modes, and switchable traction control for even greater riding efficiency across the board.

Digital designer Oberdan Bezzi sure thinks so, and this Triumph Trident 660 RR render of his gives us an idea how it should look like…

Certain 2022 Triumph Trident 660 is getting a recall by Triumph Motorcycles America due to a potentially faulty side stand.

According to Triumph, the side stand of the affected units might bend over time, which could cause to bike to stumble and tip over.

The process may happen gradually with the bike will lean further than usual before it finally falls.

A total of 314 Trident 660 sold in the U.S are affected by the recall, produced between February 7, 2021, to May 15, 2021.

Triumph has since changed to a robust side stand unit which is no longer believed to be affected.

As it turns out, a third-party supplier had used an incorrect material that did not meet specifications and has since been corrected.

If you managed to get your hands on the all-new Triumph Trident 660 and plan to kick-start a modification project, you might want to check out Zard’s latest product.

The Italian exhaust manufacturer has released a new full-system kit explicitly developed for the new Trident 660.

It is a 3-to-1 stainless steel exhaust system with a removable dB killer that meets Euro 5 emission standards.

Interestingly, the installation does not require any ECU modification, which we think is remarkable considering it allows owners to install these new exhausts worry-free.

According to Zard, while the stock exhaust makes 80hp @ 10,250rpm, the Trident 660 makes 82.7hp @ 9,730rpm with the full-system kit.

Moreover, Zard’s full system exhaust only weighed 3.6kg compared to the 8.1kg on the stock unit. In our book, that is a massive weight drop that helps boost the power-to-weight ratio.

The exhaust kit with Euro 5 homologation is available for a price of EUR1,105 (RM5.4k).
