The 2017 Moto Guzzi V7 III Stone, V7 III Racer and V9 Roamer have been launched earlier today at the Moto Guzzi 3S Centre which will open its doors in August 2017.

The new bike introductions were followed right after the announcement of Didi Resources Sdn Bhd as Malaysia’s official distributor and supplier.

The new Moto Guzzi 3S Centre located at Gasket Alley will be officially launched later in August 2017.

After the official announcement of Didi Resources Sdn Bhd as Moto Guzzi’s official distributor here in Malaysia, they’ve added a few giant cherries on the cake with the launch of three latest exciting models from Moto Guzzi; the 2017 Moto Guzzi V7 III Stone, V7 III Racer and V9 Roamer. (more…)

Moto Guzzi, the fabled Italian motorcycle brand has previously enjoyed some success in Malaysia. Beautiful retro modern machines and Italian flair appealed to a large audience, but things were not meant to be.

Constant change of management and politicking has left owners of the motorcycles in a limbo with no official workshop and after sales service to support the bikes. It has been about two years now since the brand enjoyed official presence in Malaysia, but there is word on the street that things are about to change. Very soon.

According to our sources, Moto Guzzi is set to make a comeback into the Malaysian market, and this time the brand will be supported by a company that are hailed as ‘specialists in the retail business’.

Apparently only two models will be offered in Malaysia for now – the retro looking V7 and the V9, but that will eventually change to offer a more thorough line-up. Our source says that the focus of the company will be to reach out to current owners of Moto Guzzi motorcycles and to provide them with an official workshop, trained mechanics and the whole works.

We also know that the brand will have an official presence in a swanky dedicated showroom located right in the heart of Petaling Jaya with the workshop located just next to it.

The people behind the return of the brand are fully committed to the brand and have no other main-stream motorcycle brand in the current portfolio, which means the company will dedicate 100% of its efforts into rebuilding the brand locally.

The Moto Guzzi V7 II offers four different variants – the V7 II Stone (above left), the V7 II Special (above second from left), the V7 II Racer (above left), and the V7 II Stornello (above second from right), but it is unclear which of these will make it here. All four variants are powered by a 744cc engine with power figures ranging from 46.9hp to 48hp, with a few different technical differences.

Then there is also the Moto Guzzi V7 III which also offers four variants – the V7 III Stone (second from left), the V7 III Special (right), the V7 III Racer (second from right), and the V7 III Anniversario (left). All variants are also powered by the same 744cc engine but produce more power – 52hp and 60Nm of torque. It is unclear which of these variants will be offered for the Malaysian market.

The Moto Guzzi V9 on the other hand offers two variants – the bobber (right) and the roamer (left). Both variants are powered by a 850cc twin-cylinder engine that produces 55hp and 64Nm of torque. Power is transferred via a shaft drive, and with a weight of just 199kg, the V9 is one of the lightest in its class.

There is no news on pricing or anything of that sort, but the brand is expected to make an official announcement sometime in July.

Moving along outside, there were several smaller vendors present here alongside a vast line up of F&B stalls too. However, all eyes were on the event’s main draw for Saturday, that being its Malaysia Book of Records attempt at organising the largest gathering of Yamaha RX-Z motorcycles.

The move was meant to celebrate the model’s 30th anniversary in Malaysia, and the turn out was indeed impressive. Besides owners from the greater Klang Valley areas, much of the gathering saw the arrival many Yamaha RX-Z owners from out of state too.

Despite the rainy season getting the best of most, the gathering was indeed a success as it charted a record entry with a total of 2,277 Yamaha RX-Zs in the gathering, securing its spot in the record books in the process too.

For those wanting to attend, the 2015 Malaysia 2Wheels Festival is happening until Sunday (tomorrow). Directions to the CIDB Convention Centre can be obtained in the map we’ve attached below.

Moto Guzzi has just unveiled four new bikes at the ongoing Eicma show, which are the V9 Roamer, V9 Bobber, and the Stornello.

In addition to the three bikes, the company also confirmed that the MGX-21 Flying Fortress will be a part of its 2016 product line up.

The V9 Roamer and V9 Bobber, which are the latest addition to the brand’s stable, share the brand’s new 850cc two-valve, transverse 90 degree V-twin engine.

While Moto Guzzi has not revealed the exact output figures, maximum torque readings stand at 62Nm at 3,000rpm.

According to the manufacturer, the Roamer is the conventional version of the V9, while the Bobber is the sportier version with its black bodywork.

Weighing at 200kg,  both V9 variants come with ABS and adjustable traction control as standard (which can be disabled), and also feature an immobilizer, a USB port, and a single, circular dash.

Moto Guzzi says it will be offering a range of accessories for the bikes, including a system to connect the bike to the rider’s smartphone and options to personalize it according to their tastes.

Looking pretty similar to the V7 racer we have in Malaysia, the Stornello, which is basically a scrambler version of the existing V7 II, is powered by the same 744cc V-twin engine, but the bike is fitted with a new clutch and a six-speed gearbox.

Weighing at 186kg, the Stornello has been given a few trick bits including an Arrow exhaust, wire-spoked wheels with ‘off-road’ tyres. It’s also got aluminium mudguards, footpegs and injector bodies, plus three sets of number plate holders. Also standard is ABS and traction control.

As for the V7 II Racer, the company has given it an update as well, including revamped and updated matte finish graphics.
