Repsol Honda Team finally issued an update on the current condition of Marc Marquez.

The six-time MotoGP world champion suffers from diplopia (double vision) during a training crash at the end of October.

According to Repsol Honda Team, the Spaniard is currently undergoing a conservative treatment plan whilst doing physical training to prepare himself for the upcoming MotoGP season.

“The Repsol Honda Team rider, who last October was diagnosed with an episode of diplopia after suffering a fall while training for the Portuguese GP, has continued periodic visits to his trusted ophthalmologist to assess the evolution of his vision over the past two months.

“During these reviews, the progress made has been deemed favourable and as a result, Marquez will continue with a conservative treatment plan for the next few weeks.

“Marc Marquez will continue to undergo periodic reviews with Dr Sánchez Dalmau during the coming weeks alongside the conservative treatment plan.

“The situation does not prevent the rider from Cervera from continuing his physical training plan to prepare himself physically for a new season.”

However, the overall statement does not provide a clear insight into the rider’s condition.

Meanwhile, the “conservative treatment plan” is presumably an effort to avoid the need for surgery which could further lengthen Marquez road to recovery.

Nonetheless, it’s good to know that Marquez has resumed his physical training despite it might take a while before he is allowed to train on a bike.

We expect Repsol Honda Team will release another press statement sometime in January ahead of the official test in Sepang.

Zontes Malaysia has officially launched the ZT155-G, ZT155-U and ZT155-U1 for the local market.

Priced at RM10,888, all three models come with different designs and features committed to fulfilling the needs of riders in the country.

Interestingly, all three variant shares the same (now Euro5) 155cc single-cylinder and water-cooled engine that makes 18.8hp @ 9,250rpm
and 16Nm @ 7,500rpm.

Zontes ZT155-G

The ZT155-G caught our attention the most as the scrambler-type motorcycle not only comes with modern technology but also a massive 20L fuel tank.

Zontes claimed the ZT155-G can easily reach a distance of 1000km on a full tank, making it the ultimate daily commuter motorcycle for the public.

The ZT155-G also features a slipper clutch, crash bar, digital speedometer, two riding modes (Eco, Sport), forged handguard, two fast-charging USB ports, and dual-channel ABS.

Zontes ZT155-U

Unlike the ZT155-G that brings a neo-retro look, the ZT155-U is a naked bike.

Despite missing out on the massive 20L tank, its 12.5L tank is still huge in comparison to other models in the 155cc segment.

The ZT155-U features a radical design similar to its bigger sibling, the ZT310-R.

It also comes equipped with an all-LED light, digital tachometer, rear-hugger, two riding modes (Eco and Sport), slipper clutch, forged handguard, dual fast-charging USB port and dual ABS.

Interestingly, its 830mm seat height helps to create similar riding ergonomics to a bigger capacity motorcycle. Thanks to a kerb weight of just 117kg, the ZT155-U is definitely an easy bike to handle.

Zontes ZT155-U1

According to Zontes Malaysia, the ZT155-U1 is a fun mini-motard motorcycle.

While it shares the same simple steel cradle frame and body panels as the ZT155-U, the U1 comes with additional features to make it a motard.

At the front sits a long beak to create the motard-ish look while the wheels are fitted with knobby tires to increase the bike capabilities off-road.

The ZT155-U1 also misses out on the 20L and shares the same 12.5L fuel tank as the ZT155-U.

Interestingly, the ZT155-U1 comes in three colour options, Yellow, Orange and Red.

The entire range of ZT155 is now available at all 11 authorised dealers in Malaysia.

Not really, but they could, considering how big is the adventure motorcycle segment these days.

Previously, the adventure-touring segment is filled with a long list of big-bore ADV bikes, mostly ranging 1000cc and above.

However, the growing demand for ADV bikes has led manufacturers to create small and middleweight adventures machines such as KTM’s 390 Adventure and the 250 Adventure.

This could also lead Bajaj to turn towards the ADV segment with their own version of an adventure bike.

Moreover, since the Indian motorcycle manufacturer is already responsible for putting together the KTM 390 and 250 Adventure in Pune, India, it could potentially lead Bajaj to develop their version of an ADV bike.

One of India’s render artists, @abin_designs_511 has gone ahead and created a concept look of the alleged Bajaj Pulsar F250 Adventure.

However, the rendered image showed a concept that features a sports-tourer as compared to the more adventure looks on the KTM 250 Adventure.

The Pulsar F250 Adventure has a sleeker rear and a sportier front. It also features a large belly pan similar to the one available of most of the Pulsar range.

While this is just a render image, but it could also lead to the real deal soon enough.

TVS Motor Company has launched the all-new limited-edition RTR 165 RP, the first model produced under its Race Performance (RP) series.

Limited to just 200 units, the Apache RTR 165 RP is the first model from the company racing lineage ushered into the TVS Apache series of motorcycles.

The RTR 165 RP makes 19hp @ 10,000rpm and 14.2Nm @ 8,750rpm from its 164.9cc single-cylinder 4-valve engine. Power is delivered to the back wheel via a 5-speed super-slick transmission.

The RP is not just a nameplate, to ensure the best performance in its segment, the RTR 165 RP gets a new cylinder head with a 35 per cent increase in intake. The engine also gets a 15 per cent bigger valve controlled by Hi-Lift Hi-Duration cams and dual spring actuators for increased performance.

TVS also revised the bore stroke ratio of 1.37, to allow free-revving up the redline.

Other features include a new headlamp assembly and a 250mm rear disc brake claimed to be the first in its class.

Two Royal Enfield Himalayan managed to overcome harsh weather and terrain to successfully capture the South Pole.

Ridden by Santhosh Vijay Kumar and Dean Coxson, the two begin their journey onboard two modified Himalayan from Novolazarevskaya research stations in Antarctica.

The pair took nine days to cover a distance of 3,200 kilometres and faced bone-chilling temperatures ranging from -30 degrees to -25 degrees Celsius before arriving at the location.

Other than facing a wind speed of 60km/h, the pair had to change their course more than once but still managed to reach the South Pole on December 16 together with a support crew.

In order to make the ride possible, the Himalayan’s underwent some modifications. The bike was also ridden on a compacted snow track from Ross Ice Shelf to the South Pole in an effort to reduce drag and limit emission.

Currently, the two Himalayan are still in Antarctica.

Moto Guzzi has been busy updating its current lineup with a new range of motorcycles.

Not only revamping its Mandello Del Lario factory, the Italian brand recently celebrated its 100th years anniversary by unveiling the V100 Mandello sport-tourer.

The V100 Mandello is the company most technologically-advanced motorcycle to date.

However, it seems Moto Guzzi does not plan to stop there, instead the Italian firm has just teased an upcoming V850 X set to roll out in 2022.

Looking at the company new direction with the V 85TT and the V100 Mandello, the new motorcycle could also carry a more modern design.

Looking back in October, a test mule was found roaming the street of Italy in a special test livery dubbed to be the next generation V7.

While the company did well to hide some finer details, the photos clearly show the V7 has received a modern touch.

However, the upcoming V850 X could combine the ruggedness of the V7 with the V85 TT off-roading capabilities.

According to reports, Moto Guzzi set up an incomplete website dedicated to the all-new V850 X with a text describing the new model as a “production special”, “technical heir” to the V7.

It also says the V850 X is a “synthesis of different worlds such as the flat track and that of the scrambler.”

The web page has since been taken down since the report went viral.

Nonetheless, Moto Guzzi is confirmed to roll out a couple of new models for 2022, we just not sure what’s the date. Either way, 2022 is set to be an exciting year.

Harley-Davidson is set to kick off the new year with an all-new motorcycle.

The American motorcycle company has teased that there is something new set to be unleashed on the 26 January.

The teaser only features a date and a glimpse of what looks like a silhouette from a tank including the tagline ‘Further, Faster’.

While details remain scarce at this point, there is no harm in trying to deduct what the new motorcycle could be.

Firstly, looking at how aggressive Harley-Davidson is with the new Revolution Max 1250 engine available on the Sportster S and Pan America, the upcoming model could feature the same powerplant.

The tagline ‘Further, Faster’ could also refer to a more powerful version of the two.

However, considering 150hp and 127Nm is more than enough for the Pan America 1250, it’s only logical that the teaser could refer to a more powerful Sportster S.

Firstly, the Sportster S makes 121hp @ 7,500rpm and 127Nm, which means it has room to be injected with extra ponies.

Secondly, with just an 11.8L tank capacity, the Sportster S definitely needs a bigger tank to allow riders to go the extra mile.

Ironically, since the ‘S’ refers to ‘Sport’, the upcoming model could be a touring-oriented Sportster.

Nevertheless, the teaser could mean an entirely different model altogether thus it’ll be best to just wait and see what’s in store from Harley-Davidson.

U.K Prime Minister, Boris Johnson announced that all new construction in England will require electric charging stations to be installed beginning 2022.

The speech was part of a movement to accelerate the country’s ambitious emission goals of banning the sales of internal combustion engines including motorcycles from 2030.

In an effort to reach its goal of having 145,000 charging points by 2030, the prime minister office is enacting requirements for all housing, workplace, and retail construction projects to equip parking bays with electric charging stations.

While the cost of adding the charging stations does not come with any incentives, the move is aligned with the country’s motion to transition to electricity.

Despite the push, the UK government recently slashed incentives for customers who want to purchase electric motorcycles and scooters.

Currently, the UK sits way behind its European counterparts in terms of total electric charging points installed.

To put it in perspective, France currently has 45,751 charging stations compared to UK’s 25,000.

UK’s approach to electrifying its mobility industry has also triggered motorcycles manufacturers in the country such as Triumph to develop their first electric motorcycle.
