Kami suka motosikal replika perlumbaan.

We love race replica motorcycles. We love rare race replica motorcycles even more. We would probably go to extraordinary lengths to get one, even if means we have to eat nothing but tapioca for the rest of our lives. This kind of passion is difficult to understand for many but, one look at this Yamaha YZF-R1 Jonathan Rea Replica and you would understand why.

It commemorates Jonathan Rea’s move to Yamaha from Kawasaki. The six-time WSBK champion made the surprising move beginning this year’s season, after the 2021 champion Toprak Razgatlioglu vacated the spot. Rea must have seen the strengths of the R1 in Toprak’s hands when it beat him that season.

The Yamaha YZF-R1 Jonathan Rea Replica is not just some fancy paint job you can get at the shop around the corner. There are so many performance goodies underneath. These include an Akrapovic exhaust system, Marchesini forged-aluminum wheels, Öhlins TTX fork cartridge kit, Öhlins NIX rear shock, and an adjustable steering damper.

You may also upgrade the front brakes to racing Brembo GP4RX calipers and T-Drive discs, for an additional price, of course. Another option is the Garage Pack which includes GYTR front and rear stands, a bike mat, and a custom Jonathan Rea bike cover.

Crescent Yamaha says that the Yamaha YZF-R1 Jonathan Rea Replica is available for worldwide shipping. There are only 65 of these that will be made, corresponding to Rea’s race number. You just need £29,995 and it will be yours. Oh, it is offered in the stealthy Winter Test colours, too.

Another thing that makes this replica super special is because 2024 is the last year of road production for the Yamaha YZF-R1.

Earlier in March 2021, it was revealed that Yamaha is planning to introduce an all-new YZF-R7, based on the MT-07 CP2 twin-cylinder 689cc engine.

However, the news also triggered the possibility of an R9 using the MT-09 CP3 triple-cylinder 890cc powerplant.

Now, let us get to the best part. Recent reports (by the good people from Motorcycle.com) revealed that Yamaha had filed a new trademark application in Japan involving a full range of YZF models, ranging from the R15, R20, R25, R2, R4, R5, R8, and R9 with the R7 already on its way.

source: Motorcycle.com

Let us remind you that these trademark applications do not necessarily mean that the name will put into place; instead, it is sometimes a strategy to avoid other company from using them in the future.

Nonetheless, there is still a high possibility that Yamaha is planning to introduce some of these models especially involving a small-displacements model.

*Yamaha YZF-R15

Theoretically, the engine for the R9 is ready, and the R7 has been certified, which put these two as the most logical model to be introduced, but we think Yamaha might follow the footsteps of their Japanese rival, Honda, by introducing a 500cc version of the YZF to go against the CBR500R.

  • The 2020 Yamaha YZF-R1 and 2020 Yamaha YZF-R1M were launched at the American World Superbike round.

  • The new bike has plenty of updates including the bodywork.

  • The new engine is Euro5-compliant with a number of updates.

We knew the 2020 Yamaha YZF-R1 and 2020 Yamaha YZF-R1M were bound to be introduced this year (probably at Intermot of EICMA). However, the manufacturer sprung a surprise and unveiled both at the Laguna Seca racetrack during the World Superbike round.

Its predecessor and variants were mostly-unchanged since 2015, while rival manufacturers had gone ahead and updated their existing or introduced completely new models.

Anyhow, the wait is over.

2020 Yamaha YZF-R1

The new R1 and R1M looks even more “GP-inspired” and is packed with a number of important new tech.

Highlights:

  • New more aerodynamic bodywork with is 5.3% more efficient in flowing air. The screen and fairing combine with the fuel tank.
  • Aluminium air duct behind the large central intake provides more rigidity to the fairing.
  • A titanium lower panel strengthens the lower fairing.
  • New LED headlights for the new fairings.
  • New Euro5-compliant engine.
  • The 998cc crossplane inline-Four engine produces 197hp.
  • Updated finger follower rocker arms and new cam lobes.
  • 43mm fully-adjustable Kayaba forks.
  • Six-axis IMU-based Cornering ABS.
  • Brake pads with new materials for higher friction.
  • Three-mode Engine Braking Management (EBM).
  • The EBM monitors gear position, engine RPM, throttle position, throttle valve position. The ECU alters throttle position, ignition timing and fuel injection.
  • Updated launch control system which activates at 9,000 RPM.

The YZF-R1M, gets more goodies since it’s Yamaha’s alpha bike. It’s made in limited numbers, by the way.

Highlights:

  • Lighter bike due to carbon fibre fairings, mudguard and tail section, besides magnesium wheels and subframe.
  • Öhlins electronic NPX anti-cavitator gas forks.
  • Updated Öhlins electronic rear shock.
  • YRC Settings app.
  • New Y-TRAC app accesses bike’s Communication Control Unit (CCU) to download ride data.
  • The data can be viewed in Google Maps, displaying information such as acceleration and G-forces.
  • Engraved badge with production number.

Will we ever get to see the Yamaha YZF-R1 and Yamaha YZF-R1M officially imported in Malaysia? Your guess is as good as ours.

  • Like beauty is subjective, so is everyone’s preference for motorcycle exhaust note.

  • V-Four engines are among the best – if not the best – sounding.

  • Listen to this Yamaha YZF-R1 and Aprilia RSV4 RF.

Just as beauty is subjective, so is everyone’s preference for motorcycle exhaust note. To bikers, the exhaust note is another aspect which stirs the sould. However, V-Fours sound the best in our books as demonstrated by this Yamaha YZF-R1 and Aprilia RSV4 RF.

Yes, yes, the Yamaha R1 isn’t a V-Four but an inline-Four, instead. But I’m sure you already know that the “crossplane” crankshaft is arranged in such a way that the engine fires like a V-Four, hence sounding like one. Or like some say, sounds like Valentino Rossi’s YZR-M1 MotoGP bike.

The crossplane crankshaft spaces the crankpins at 90ofrom each other. Therefore, the R1’s firing order mimics the firing order of a V-Four with a 180ocrank, which gives it a 270o– 180o– 90o– 180oignition timing. The irregular firing order is what gives the bike its distinctive exhaust note compared to traditional inline-Fours.

The Aprilia RSV4, on the other hand, uses a 65oV-Four with a 180ocrankshaft. As such, the firing order is a regular 180o– 115o– 180o– 245o, giving it another distinctive and gloriously LOUD(!) exhaust note.

By the way, the numbers with degrees denote the crankshaft rotation angle.

NOTE: Please ride responsibly on public roads.

  • The next-generation Yamaha YZF-R1 is expected to feature MotoGP technology.

  • It may feature seamless transmission, VVT/L and counter-rotating crankshaft.

  • The YZF-R1 has remained unchanged for the last five years.

The current Yamaha YZF-R1 has gone pretty unchanged for the last five years since its. Introduction. But that’s about to change according to many motorcycle journalists, including us.

By contrast, all the superbikes running in the WorldSBK championship were updated within last few years, except for the Yamaha.

Could the upcoming Euro 5 emission standard be the determining factor? It might as well be, just as Honda is holding back the introduction of their next-generation CBR1000RR Fireblade. Euro 5 will cut emissions by half from the Euro 4 standard. Such reduction will no doubt rob engine power.

As such, the new YZF-R1 ought to feature variable valve timing and lift. The BMW S 1000 RR, Suzuki GSX-R1000RR are already utilizing the technology, and it’s strongly rumoured that the upcoming CBR1000RR will follow suit.

Yamaha has already employed VVT/L to their scooters as part of their Blue Core engine strategy, after all.

As for MotoGP tech, Yamaha submitted patents for a seamless transmission for the R1. The technology takes much explanation, but you can read about it here. If this comes to plan, Yamaha will be the first manufacturer to adopt it to a roadgoing bike.

Secondly, Yamaha was one of the first manufacturers to run a counter-rotating crankshaft in Grand Prix racing all the way back in the two-stroke era. It’s also employed in the in the current YZR-M1 MotoGP bike. A counter-rotating crankshaft reduces the effects of the wheels’ centrifugal force at high-speeds, making the bike easier to turn into corners. Ducati uses it in the Panigale V4 to devastating effect in WorldSBK.

  • The Yamaha Racing Team crew who won the Suzuka 8-Hours Endurance built the bike.

  • There were only 20 offered at €39,500.

The Yamaha YZF-R1 GYTR sold out in less than 24 hours. Jack Bauer wouldn’t even have time to complete his mission. Bummer.

Only 20 were made to commemorate the Yamaha YZF-R1’s 20thanniversary. Additionally, the new YZF-R1 won the prestigious Suzuka 8-Hour Endurance this year. It was the fourth Suzuka 8-Hour victory for the bike in four consecutive years.

The bike was hand-built by the official Yamaha Racing Team who won at Suzuka. It’s evident from the pictures that the bike is completely festooned with performance parts from the GYTR catalog and sponsors.

However, the following parts are enough to make any serious performance rider drool. Brakes are Brembo GP4-RX front calipers gripping 320mm T-Drive discs. Brake fluid is pumped through the Brembo 19RCS Corsa Corta master cylinder. Ohlins FGRT 219 forks and TT36 GP shock. Tyres are Bridgestone V02 (soft) slicks. Akrapovic Evo 2 titanium exhaust system. The fairings are carbon fibre. And a partridge in a pear tree.

Each YZF-R1 GYTR is accompanied by a number engraved on the top triple clamp and certificate of authenticity.

It was offered at €39,500 but it didn’t stop the 20 lucky buyers. They have been real nice this year.
