Triumph Motorcycles

Triumph Motorcycles has finally dropped the official launching date for the upcoming Speed Triple 1200 RR, which will be unveiled on September 14.

While details remain scarce, the latest teaser trailer and photos suggest that the Speed Triple 1200 RR might not just be your typical sportbike.

Instead, the British firm adopts a unique approach, especially with the single circular LED headlamp paired to a classic looking front end similar to a Cafe Racer appearance.

Apart from knowing the RR is equipped with the same three-cylinder engine from the Speed Triple RS, it is still unknown whether the power figures will remain at 177hp or higher.

That is the only info we could work on right now; the rest we have to wait until September 14 to have a detailed look into the new Speed Triple 1200 RR.

After teasing us with the Speed Triple 1200 RR Prototype and the Tiger Sport 660, the lads at Hinckley decided to drop a set of photos on the new Tiger 1200 prototype.

Triumph Motorcycles has been making serious waves in the industry ever since they launched the Tiger 900 range in 2019.

Words of mouth were quick to suggest that the next obvious move is to introduce an all-new Tiger 1200; however, the British marquee decided to focus on the middleweight segment, with the Trident 660.

Nonetheless, waiting is over as Triumph Motorcycles has provided a clear look into the upcoming Tiger 1200.

Clad in a camo overall, the Tiger 1200 looks more aggressive than its 900 range, especially with a broader front fascia and bigger LED headlamp.

However, it remains to be seen whether 1200 will feature the new Euro 5 T-plane engine configuration like the Tiger 900.

The T-Plane engine provides an uneven firing order, resulting in a more efficient drive at low rpm and extra push at high rpm, which makes the 900 the best adventure motorcycle that you can enjoy on and off-road.

We like the new Tiger 1200’s slimmer and minimalistic bodywork compared to another manufacturer – which we can’t mention who, but they do speak Germans.

Triumph also confirmed that the new adventure motorcycle is significantly lighter than its closes competition.

We have to wait for its official unveiling for further confirmation, which we think will happen anytime soon.

British motorcycle manufacturer, Triumph Motorcycles has been given the nod to continue as the Moto World Championship engine supply for at least three more years.

Triumph was recognized as the official Moto2 engine partner since 2019, taking over from Honda, who supplied a 4-cylinder CBR6000 engine from 2010 to 2018.

Moto2 then opted for the Triumph 3-cylinder 765cc engine, and the decision has proven to be a success with 14 different riders won a Grand Prix race, including 34 new lap records.

With the current deal set to expire at the end of the 2021 season, the 3-year extension will see the British marquee continue supplying the 765cc engine to the end of 2024.

Triumph Chief Product Officer Steve Sargent said in a statement,” I’m very pleased to announce the signing of a new three-year contract where Triumph will continue to provide the power behind Moto2.

“This has been a success for Triumph in every dimension, and you’ll be pleased to hear that we are committed to developing the performance of the 765cc Triple Moto2 engine, and we have improvements planned for the engine for 2022 and 2023.

“So, we hope from that you will continue to see the breaking of more lap records, top speeds, and we’re going to see Moto2 as the exciting racing spectacle that it truly is.”

Triumph Motorcycles is set to introduce the company’s production-spec superbike based on a teaser shared across its social media platform.

While details remain scarce, apart from a photo and the name, Speed Triple 1200 RR, the prototype is a faired version of the current Speed Triple 1200 RS.

*Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RS

The photo shared by the British marquee clearly shows that the 1200 RR offers aggressive riding ergonomics thanks to a fork-mounted clip-on instead of the raised handlebar on the RS.

However, it remains to be seen whether the 1200 RR is a full-blown supersport like its smaller siblings, the Daytona Moto2 765 Limited Edition.

Moving on to the 49 seconds teaser video, we could see a single round headlamp at the front, and an exposed frame, suggesting the new motorcycle is not a fully-faired sports bike.

Triumph Motorcycles will unveil the new motorcycle in September.

Triumph Motorcycles is set to enter the motocross and enduro competition with a comprehensive range of models.

The announcement is a significant shift for the British company as they will go head-to-head against a more experienced brand in the segment, with the likes of KTM, Husqvarna, Honda and Yamaha.

*Ricky Carmichael

However, Triumph is in good hands as Motocross legend Ricky Carmichael and five-times Enduro World Champion Iván Cervantes have joined the Triumph family as active partners in both bike testing and preparation for racing.

While no further details is disclosed, it is safe to assume that Triumph will unveil a wide range of Enduro and MX competition models, depending on the category.

If you managed to get your hands on the all-new Triumph Trident 660 and plan to kick-start a modification project, you might want to check out Zard’s latest product.

The Italian exhaust manufacturer has released a new full-system kit explicitly developed for the new Trident 660.

It is a 3-to-1 stainless steel exhaust system with a removable dB killer that meets Euro 5 emission standards.

Interestingly, the installation does not require any ECU modification, which we think is remarkable considering it allows owners to install these new exhausts worry-free.

According to Zard, while the stock exhaust makes 80hp @ 10,250rpm, the Trident 660 makes 82.7hp @ 9,730rpm with the full-system kit.

Moreover, Zard’s full system exhaust only weighed 3.6kg compared to the 8.1kg on the stock unit. In our book, that is a massive weight drop that helps boost the power-to-weight ratio.

The exhaust kit with Euro 5 homologation is available for a price of EUR1,105 (RM5.4k).
