Tech 3

The Tech 3 team will also leave Moto2 in 2020 following KTM’s withdrawal.

KTM had made the announcement after the Austrian Grand Prix over the weekend. The decision was made to focus on MotoGP, while bringing the Husqvarna brand back to roadracing.

As such, Tech 3 will team up with KTM and Red Bull to form a new team in Moto3.

Tech 3 team principal Herve Poncharal says that he understands KTM position to strengthen their involvement in MotoGP and Moto3. To him, the Moto3 class is where new talents are generated for the MotoGP class.

This will the first time for Tech 3 to compete in the Moto3 class. Tech 3 was first involved with KTM in Moto2 in 2010, using the Mistral 610 engine. Their MotoGP effort switched to KTM this year after partnering with Yamaha for more than 20 years.

He also added that they have to spend the next few months to search for suitable riders.

The decision is somewhat ominous for Hafizh Syahrin, who was offered a spot in Tech 3’s Moto2 effort. His options are limited now, but there are rumours that he will take over from Khairul Idham Pawi in the PETRONAS Sprinta Racing Team. Following this, Khairul Idham will be moved back to Moto3 and takes the place of Ayumu Sasaki who is leaving the team at the end of the year.

It’s also a tumultuous time for KTM with letting Hafizh Syahrin go and losing Johann Zarco a year early.

There may be a silver lining for Hafizh Syahrin yet, now that Tech 3 has offered him a ride in their Moto2 outfit in 2020.

Tech 3 team principal Herve Poncharal confirmed the news recently, saying that the option is for Hafizh if he accepts. The Tech 3 Moto2 team also fields KTM bikes. However, unlike in MotoGP, the Moto2 bike uses KTM’s frame wrapped around the Triumph three-cylinder engine.

Poncharal said that he spoke to Hafizh a few races prior to announcing Brad Binder’s ascension to the MotoGP team. As such, Hafizh wasn’t entirely shocked by the news.

Hafiz, on the other hand, acknowledges Tech 3’s offer but is leaving options open. He looks to be more interested in joining the PETRONAS SRT outfit should a seat be available, instead.

“I speak (sic) to Herve, also I speak (sic) to Razlan (Razali, the PETRONAS SRT Boss). I cannot say 100 percent. I need to wait until maybe Austria, I will know where I go.”

Stepping back into Moto2 wouldn’t be so bad for Hafizh, since he’s now accumulated priceless experience in MotoGP. He’d been progressing well in Moto2 anyway, before he was picked to replace Jonas Folger in the Monster Energy Tech 3 Yamaha team in 2018.

Menurut pelumba KTM, Johan Zarco, prestasi semasa rakan sepasukan Pol Espargaro menyamai era Casey Stoner ketika bersama Ducati pada 2007.

Espargaro, yang menyertai KTM pada 2017, merupakan pelumba utama di samping rakan sepasukan Bradley Smith selama dua tahun bersama jentera RC16.

Bagi tahun ini, kedudukan Smith kemudiannya digantikan dengan nama besar, Zarco – yang dicanang bakal mengangkat nama KTM ke peringkat lebih tinggi.

Namun sebaliknya berlaku apabila Espargaro yang bertanggungjawab mengutip 31 mata bagi kategori pengeluar musim ini di samping menduduki tempat keenam di GP Le Mans – catatan terbaik KTM musim ini.

“Jika cara saya membawa kebaikan kepada pelumba lain, saya gembira dengan situasi itu.

“Saat seperti ini mengingatkan saya kepada era Casey Stoner. Hanya dia yang berjaya melakar keputusan baik bersama Ducati pada 2007. Ketika ini, Pol (Espargaro) yang berada di depan berbanding pelumba lain.

“KTM juga gembira dengan keadaan semasa tetapi sudah tentu mereka lebih gembira jika kesemua pelumba dapat memberikan keputusan yang lebih baik,”jelas Zarco.

Stoner menghabiskan masa empat tahun bersama Ducati di MotoGP dan muncul pelumba terbaik dihadapan rakan sepasukan lain – Loris Capirossi, Marco Melandri dan Nicky Hayden.

Dia merekodkan kejuaraan pertama Ducati di MotoGP pada 2007 dan merekodkan 23 daripada 24 kemenangan Ducati ketika itu.

Sementara itu, pelumba muda KTM Tech 3, Miguel Oliviera berkata, pencapaian Espargaro musim ini adalah dalam jangkaan.

“Dia telah bersama jentera KTM selama tiga tahun jadi keputusan yang dilakarnya ketika ini bukan satu kejutan.

“Ini adalah perkara positif buat kami semua dapat menyaksikan seorang pelumba yang berjaya ke depan. Ini membuktikan projek ini berada pada landasan yang betul,” ujarnya.

KTM secures Miguel Oliveira through the 2020 MotoGP season.

The Portuguese rookies has so far impressed everyone in the 2019 season, including veteran riders on the KTM RC16 MotoGP bike. He will continue to ride for the Red Bull KTM Tech3 team next year.

He was riding further up the field in the season opener at Qatar but dropped down to 17that the finish after destroying his tyres. But he learned quickly and fought hard for 9thwith Aleix Espargaro on the Aprilia and Pol Espargaro on the factory KTM, before settling for 11th. In Austin, Oliveira finished 14thbehind Johann Zarco on the factory KTM.

Oliveira came oh-so-close to winning the 2018 Moto2 championship, by winning 3 races and standing on the podium a total of 12 times. He would eventually end the season with just 9 points behind Francesco Bagnaia.

His results had him promoted to MotoGP right away, albeit to the Tech3 satellite team. But it didn’t matter, since both Red Bull KTM Factory Racing and Red Bull KTM Tech 3 Racing teams share the same factory-spec KTM RC16.

Oliveira is now 16thin the standings, ahead of Jorge Lorenzo, Andrea Ianone, Johann Zarco, Tito Rabat and teammate Hafizh Syahrin.

Miguel Oliveira will graduate to MotoGP in 2019 after signing a new deal with the Tech 3 squad.

The 23-year-old Portuguese racer will be the first rider that will go through the entire Red Bull KTM system.

From Red Bull Rookies Cup all the way up to MotoGP, Oliveira has been a rising star which has given KTM a good number of wins in his career.

Current Moto2 championship contender Miguel Oliveira will be heading up to the premier MotoGP class in 2019. This was confirmed in Jerez last weekend when he signed a deal with the Tech 3 squad. KTM has announced their newly-formed partnership with Tech 3 for the 2019 MotoGP season.

After quite an improvement in 2017, the Austrian manufacturer is ready to run a satellite team on the grid.

Four KTM RC16 will run simultaneously starting 2019.

It’s official, folks! KTM has announced that they will be working with the Tech 3 squad starting 2019 where the MotoGP grid will see four KTM RC16s running simultaneously. After several impressive results compared to their maiden season in 2016, the Austrian manufacturer is ready to up the ante with a satellite team. (more…)

Swiss chassis manufacturer Suter has decided to step away from the 2018 Moto2 world championship.

Out of 24 teams on the grid, only one wanted to use their chassis for the upcoming season with was the Dynavolt Intact Team.

Suter will take a break from competition to focus on building their next generation chassis to accommodate the new Triumph 765cc engine change coming in 2019.

After the realization that only one out of 24 teams who decided to use the chassis made by the Swiss manufacturer for 2018, Suter decided that to completely pull out for the 2018 Moto2 world championship altogether. This is due to the fact that they see no sense in continuing their efforts for now as it can’t have any commercial benefit to the company. (more…)
