cal crutchlowBritish MotoGP rider Cal Crutchlow was reported to have undergone surgery last week on both forearms to help prevent arm pump yet again.

Professionally known as chronic exertional compartment syndrome or CECS which is common with athletes, this injury basically makes the muscles in the affected area under perform or becomes weak.

Doctors will usually cut a small incision to the muscle to relieve pressure in that area. Several weeks rest is recommended after such procedure.

Apparently Crutchlow already had his arm operated before, once on the left and three times on the right hand.

Bridgestone tyres has made a shocking announcement that it will pull out of MotoGP at the end of next season.

Having been the sole supplier to the grand prix since 2009, the announcement wasn’t quite expected. Bridgestone has been the sole rubber supplier to the championship after Michelin withdrew and the MotoGP switched to control tyre rules.

The reason given by the Japanese firm’s general manager of global motorsport development, Kyota Futami went along the lines of the company having achieved all of its MotoGP objectives. (more…)

The MotoGP Grand Prix of Qatar was the first overseas MotoGP we attended, and the first one under the cover of darkness. This presented a whole list of challenges with photography, but it would turn out well in the end. The first ever qualifying session of the Shell Advance Asia Talent Cup took place in the late afternoon sun at the Losail circuit, in Qatar. With strong winds blowing down the starting straight all the riders had to adapt to the changed weather conditions as the gusts of wind not only robbed them of top speed but also threatened to get under the fairing of the Honda NSF250R machines mid corner and caught out a few of the riders including the tall number 7 Fakhrusy Rostam, who lost the front end early on and only managed to set a fast time with 5 minutes remaining to slot in 15th.
