Harley-Davidson buat julung kalinya mendedahkan skuter elektrik pertama.

Menurut laporan electrek.co, skuter elektrik terbabit direka bertujuan untuk memperkembangkan pelanggan Harley-Davidson yang sebelum ini tertumpu ke arah penghasilkan jentera cruiser/easy rider.

Meskipun ramai yang telah dimaklumkan mengenai perancangan Harley Davidson namun syarikat itu bijak merahsiakan rekaan skuter terbabit.

Kini, skuter elektrik sulung Harley-Davidson didedahkan sekaligus menjawab segala teka-teki yang diutarakan sebelum ini.

Ternyata rekaan penuh skuter terbabit menyerupai ‘blueprint’ yang dikongsikan oleh European Union Intellectual Property Office.

Benelli TRK502

Meskipun tidak semegah jenama motosikal Itali lain seperti Ducati dan Aprilia namun Benelli berjaya merekodkan penjualan lebih 63,000 unit bagi tahun 2019.

Siapa sangka jenama yang suatu ketika dulu menghasilkan senapang patah, kini berjaya merekodkan penjualan lebih tinggi berbanding Ducati bagi 2019.

Meskipun DNA Itali semakin pudar – setelah dimiliki Qianjiang Motorcycle – angka penjualan terbabit membuktikan orang ramai tidak peduli dengan senario tersebut.

Malah, jumlah penjualan tersebut turut meningkat berbanding 59,750 pada 2018.

Kos pengeluaran yang rendah – susulan dikilangkan di China – sekaligus membawa kepada harga mampu milik termasuk rekaan jentera moden membolehkan Benelli semakin mendapat perhatian ramai.

Menariknya, langkah ini juga kini diekori pengeluar lain antaranya KTM, Triumph dan kini Harley Davidson yang bekerjasama dengan Qianjiang Motorcycle dalam menghasilkan jentera yang lebih kecil.

Bagaimanapun, tidak dinafikan, Benelli merupakan pengeluar motosikal Eropah pertama yang mengambil langkah berani ini.

Pembukaan kilang di India – pasaran motosikal terbesar dunia – juga dilihat akan terus memacu penjualan Benelli bermula dengan Benelli 302S yang akan dilancarkan dalam masa terdekat.

Benelli Leoncino Trail 800

Bagi tahun 2020, Benelli dijangka akan memperkenalkan Leoncino Trail 800 selepas diperkenalkan kepada dunia di EICMA, November tahun lalu.

Segmen 500cc turut rancak di Malaysia tatkala Benelli menawarkan dua model menarik, TRK 502 dan Leoncino 500 – kedua dua model ini juga ditawarkan dalam versi 250cc.

We all know that Harley-Davidson is going for their biggest radical change in the upcoming years but their latest announcement regarding a ‘baby’ 350cc model might just be the one that takes the cake. Harley-Davidson bersama rakan kongsi di China, Qianjiang Motorcycle Co difahamkan telah pun menandatangani pengesahan rekaan untuk menghasilkan projek ‘HD350’ di China.

Difahamkan, jentera ‘baby Harley’ ini akan dilancarkan hujung tahun 2020 di pasaran China sebelum menawarkan jentera tersebut ke pasaran dunia.

Kerjasama di antara pengeluar motosikal Amerika Syarikat itu bersama Qianjiang Motorcycle – pemilik jenama Benelli – merupakan langkah baharu dalam menawarkan jentera untuk pasaran yang lebih luas.

Difahamkan, HD350 akan didatangkan dengan enjin 338cc parallel twin.

Berdasarkan gambar yang diedarkan beberapa bulan lalu, jentera tersebut kemungkinan akan berkongsi kerangka sama dengan Benelli 302S.

Harley Davidson Motor Company melancarkan barisan model bagi tahun 2020 termasuk model baharu bagi segmen Touring, Electra Glide Standard.

Harley-Davidson Electra Glide Standard menawarkan pengalaman tunggangan yang diinspirasikan daripada Harley-Davidson Grand American Touring.

Direka khas bagi yang gemar menunggang jarak jauh, jentera baharu ini membolehkan penunggang untuk membebaskan diri daripada kesibukan kota sambil menikmati pengalaman tunggangan yang selesa.

Electra Glide Standard ditawarkan dengan harga RM132,400.

Road Glide Special

Selain daripada Electra Glide, Harley Davidson turut memperkenalkan beberapa model lain antaranya Road King, Road King Special, Street Glide Special, Road Glide Special dan Ultra Limited.

Pelancaran model baharu ini termasuk dengan pengenalan kepada beberapa teknologi terkini menyumbang ke arah inisiatif Harley Davidson untuk melahirkan generasi penunggang motosikal baharu.

Antara ciri baharu yang terdapat pada keluarga Touring Harley Davidson adalah Reflex Defensive Rider System.

Menurut Johan Kleinsteuber, Pengarah Urusan Harley-Davidson Asia Emerging Markets, dia yakin model baharu ini akan menarik minat penunggang motosikal di Malaysia.

“Minat mendalam terhadap jentera Harley Davidson di Malaysia sedang meningkat dan tahun 2020 merupakan masa tepat untuk mereka mencari jentera baharu.

“Dengan harga bermula serendah RM62,800, kami yakin pelanggan berminat dengan pengalaman tunggangan yang ditawarkan Harley Davidson,” jelasnya.

Harley’s tourers represent the sense of freedom on the open road while being accompanied by a big-cube, thumping engine. In fact, it was Harley who started the “bagger” and later on full-dress tourer tradition.

The 2020 Touring models are equipped with chassis/traction control which the Motor Company calls Reflex Defensive Rider System. It’s designed to match the bike’s performance to available traction during acceleration, deceleration and braking by utilising the latest chassis control, electronic brake control and powertrain technology. (Not available on the Electra Glide Standard and Road King.)

  • It isn’t the production-ready version, however.

Another version of the Harley-Davidson Bronx was shown at EICMA 2019, and it’s not the production-ready version.

It was intended to be the Motor Company’s streetfighter, but they know better than to call it that since the current arms war in the segment has driven them to over 200 bhp.

So, the Bronx it is as an homage (?) to the “rough and tough” part of New York City.

Anyhow, the engine is a new Revolution Max 975. Instead of the usual air-cooled, 45-degree Big Twin, the Revolution Max 975 is a liquid-cooled, 60-degree V-Twin, similar to the 1247cc Revolution found in the V-Rod. Harley claimed the engine to produce 115 bhp and 95 Nm of torque.

The model does look like how a naked bike should, and is fitted by “modern” components such as radially-mounted Brembo monobloc front brake calipers.

Only thing is we wonder why the manufacturer is taking so long to ready the production bike, since the concept was shown off since EICMA 2018. With so many bikes debuting all at the same time, new bike fatigue sets in quickly, making bikes introduced too long ago “obsolete” by the the time they are “introduced” again.

Production of the Harley-Davidson LiveWire electric motorcycle has halted.

Harley-Davidson did not provide the specifics of the decision, instead they mentioned only a “non-standard condition.” They also mentioned that investigations are underway to provide customers with products of the best quality.

However, according to The Wall Street Journal, the problem could well be the bike’s charging mechanism. The Motor Company recommended the use of professional DC fast-chargers instead of normal home chargers.

Units of LiveWire were already sent to select dealers in September this year but no sales number was released as yet. A recall has not been issued at this time also.

The LiveWire is supposed to kick start Harley’s flagging sales especially in the United States where millennials are shunning motorcycles. The design of the bike and being electric demonstrates the manufacturers keenest in harnessing this group. Its electric motor produces the equivalent of 105 hp and there is no clutch lever or gear shifter. It’s all twist and go. 

But many overseas media reported lately that the model is finding few buyers, what not given its USD 29,799 price tag.

But CEO Matt Levatich defends the company’s decision saying that, “We made a deliberate decision to launch a halo product to demonstrate what’s possible in electric — a no-excuses Harley-Davidson electric — and we feel very good that we’ve already done that.” Levatich produced that statement in July.

Harley-Davidson didn’t state when production of the LiveWire will continue.

Harley-Davidson membuat keputusan untuk menghentikan pengeluaran motosikal elektriknya pertamanya, LiveWire, untuk sementara waktu susulan berdepan masalah dengan sistem pengecas jentera tersebut.

Menurut laporan The Wall Street Journal, Harley-Davidson memaklumkan bahawa LiveWire masih selamat untuk ditunggang namun menasihatkan beberapa pemilik untuk mengecas jentera bernilai USD30,000 itu di pengedar rasmi buat masa ini.

Projek LiveWire pernah diperkenalkan sebagai jentera konsep pada 2014 namun kemudiannya menyepi tanpa khabar berita sebelum Harley-Davidson memperkenalkan kembali jentera tersebut pada November 2018.

LiveWire merupakan projek berani Harley-Davidson dalam mengorak langkah baharu tatkala mendakwa jentera elektrik itu mensasarkan golongan muda – meskipun berharga USD10,000 lebih tinggi daripada jentera elektrik lain dalam pasaran.

“Kami telah pun menyerahkan ‘batch’ pertama LiveWire kepada para pengedar rasmi. Bagaimanapun, ketika proses semakan kualiti terakhir kami mendapati terdapat anomali terhadap sistem pengecas.

“Kami membuat keputusan untuk memberhentikan pengeluaran dan penghantaran buat sementara waktu bagi melakukan analisis terperinci. Bagaimanapun, LiveWire masih selamat untuk ditunggang,” jelas Harley-Davidson dalam satu kenyataan.

LiveWire telah pun diedar kepada beberapa pemilik awal September lalu.
