The highly anticipated 150cc motorcycle from Suzuki Malaysia is finally here, in the form of Suzuki GSX-R150, GSX-S150 and Raider R150 Fi.

The three new models is the first small capacity range from Suzuki Malaysia after the changed of ownership.

Despite all three bikes offers something different than one another, the GSX-R150, GSX-S150 and Raider R150 Fi shares the same power mill.

All three features Suzuki 147.3cc single-cylinder DOHC with liquid-cooled engine.

However, while the GSX-R150 and GSX-S150 makes the same 19hp @ 10,500rpm and 14Nm @ 9,000rpm, the underbone Raider R150 Fi pumps 18hp and 13.8Nm at lower rpm (500rpm less).

Nevertheless, all three models features telescopic front fork, 17-inch wheels, single petal disc (front and rear), LED lights, GSX-S1000-inspired digital LCD instrument cluster, hazard lights, and electric starter with one push function.

The GSX-R150 is also the heaviest at 131kg – 1kg less on the naked GSX-S150 – while the Raider R150 Fi weighs at just 109kg.

While the GSX-S150 and Raider R150 Fi gets new shutter key system, the GSX-R150 features smart key function (keyless).

According to Suzuki Malaysia, the GSX-R150, GSX-S150 and Raider R150 Fi is priced at RM11,329, RM10,289 and RM8,173 respectively.

Suzuki has rolled out the new Swish 125 in Taiwan, which features the latest generation Hayabusa colourway.

The Swish 125 joins the recently launched Saluto 125 but offers a much sportier and modern exterior design than the latter.

 

For 2022, the Swish 125 gets a two-tone colourway similar to the Hayabusa that could be found on the scooter’s headlamp and body baseline.

However, no mechanical changes are done to the compact scooter as the 2022 Swish 125 still carry the same 124cc Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) engine capable of pumping 8.5hp and 9.6Nm of torque.

Meanwhile, the Swish 125 and other small capacity scooters are yet to be available in Malaysia.

Suzuki Malaysia currently offers the SV650, VStrom 650XT, GSX-S750, Katana 1000, GSX-R1000, GSX-R1000R, V-Strom 1050XT, Hayabusa and GSX-S1000.

Suzuki Malaysia has dropped its second teaser of the month, with the tagline ‘Urban Road Leader’, which officially refers to the GSX-S150.

Unlike its full-fairing siblings that cost around RM11k, the GSX-S150, on the other hand, will be made available at just RM10k.

The GSX-S150 and the GSX-R150 are among the three 150cc motorcycles set to be introduced by Suzuki Malaysia in the coming months.

Last week, the company dropped its first teaser, beginning with the GSX-R150. Soon after, Suzuki Malaysia is expected to unveil its third and final teaser, the upcoming Belang R150.

Meanwhile, the 2022 GSX-S150 features a 147cc single-cylinder engine that makes 18.9hhp @ 10,500rpmm and 14Nm @ 9,000rpm putting it within the same power range as Yamaha’s MT-15.

However, the MT-15, priced at RM11,998 come equipped with USD fork and assist and slipper clutch.

 

Suzuki Malaysia first dropped a teaser of its small capacity motorcycle back in September 2021 during the all-new Hayabusa and V-Strom 1050 XT launch.

During the launch, Suzuki Malaysia has announced that the upcoming 150cc motorcycle is due to roll out in early 2022.

However, we are already in the middle of February, and there is still no update on Suzuki Malaysia small capacity bikes.

Regardless, Suzuki Malaysia’s Executive Chairman, Ahmad Faez Yahaya, has posted an update on his Facebook account regarding the company’s upcoming motorcycle.

Interestingly, what can be seen here is a photo of a new set of tyres, and while it did not reveal much, the tyres are the wheelset for the Belang R150.

Moreover, according to reports, Suzuki Malaysia is scheduled to launch the three new models sometime in March this year.

However, we were told that Suzuki Malaysia might not be using the ‘Belang’ name; instead, the motorcycle could be named as Raider F150, but we are still waiting for further clarification.

Nonetheless, the long wait is over as a small capacity Suzuki motorcycle will finally be upon us soon.

While other manufacturers are relying on every bit of technology to ensure they maintain to compete at the highest level, Suzuki is known to walk on the road less travelled.

The rear ride height device is a system that allows the rear of the motorcycle to squat, lowing the centre of gravity which subsequently adds grip.

This means less electronic intervention and ultimately helps riders gain a faster lap time.

What begins as a device that helps achieve better traction at the start of the race, some manufacturers, especially Ducati, have adopted the technology during the race, with a system called the front ride height device.

During the recently concluded Sepang Test, Ducati has seen testing the front ride height device on the GP22, reported by Crash.net.

The Ducati GP22 can now lower its front and rear at the start of a race and during corner exit.

However, during Suzuki’s team conference, team manager, Shinichi Sahara, confirmed that they are currently not interested in expanding the system during races.

“Our bike height adjustment system only works for the start. During the race and during the race action, this system does not work for us,” he said.

At this point, it’s no longer a surprise that Suzuki decided to hold off the front ride height device as the team is the last to jump on the bandwagon for the rear height device.

Suzuki is always known to be lacking in adapting to new technology not only in world championship racing but also in production bikes.

Nonetheless, Sahara reveals that the team might look into the front height device beyond the 2022 season.

“We understand how to build it, we understand the method to develop it, but we are not thinking of doing it, at least not this year,” he added.

Suzuki is currently at Mandalika Circuit in Indonesia as the team prepares for its second pre-season test ahead of the 2022 MotoGP season.

Suzuki two wheelers legend, the Katana still remains the sharp suited motorcycle with mega performance.

First released in 1981, Suzuki refreshed the Katana nameplate in 2019 with a modern engine, new features and new colour concept for enthusiasts.

Compared to its 2020 model, the new Katana comes with gold forks, colour-coordinated wheels and grey rear suspension.

With a new dark tone seat, the bike also features Metallic Mat Stellar Blue and Solid Iron Grey colour options.

Apart from that, the Katana gets a few touch of electronics features.

As for the engine, the 2022 Katana retains the 999cc, inline-four cylinder engine which is an evolution of the one found in the GSX-R1000 K5.

But for 2022, the new Katana gets a new intake and exhaust camshafts, valve springs, a 4-2-1 exhaust system and a new airbox that improves efficiency.

Suzuki says the new Katana has 3hp more than the previous model.

But that’s not all, Suzuki fans will love the face that the new Katana now comes with a two-way quickshifter, an updated slipper clutch, rubber mounted handle bars and also offers Suzuki’s new Easy Start system.

And to ease night riding, Suzuki has equipped the dashboard of the new Katana with a “night” mode.

There is no announcement about pricing and it is unlike to be available in Malaysia anytime soon.

Together with the Burgman 400, the next generation Suzuki GSX-S1000 has also landed in Malaysia.

Despite no official announcement from Suzuki Malaysia, the GSX-S1000 is available for RM76,900 (according to local dealership).

Six years after the first generations, the Suzuki GSX-S1000 returns in 2021, with all the latest upgrade.

For 2021, the GSX-S1000 received major styling, electronic and engine upgrade.

Styling

The overall look of the new all-new GSX-S1000 now stands out with the futuristic overlapping hexagonal LED headlight at the front.

According to Suzuki, a part of creating a futuristic look, these new hexagonal lights display a wider and brighter light.

The motorcycle also displays a sleeker and slim silhouette that continues from the 19L tank to the tail.

Electronic

The 2021 GSX-S1000 boast a host of riding aids which includes:

  • new ride-by-wire throttle
  • Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (SIRS)
  • Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS)
  • Suzuki Clutch Assist
  • Traction Control with five modes
  • Digital LCD dash

Suzuki also threw in a quickshifter system as standard.

Engine

Despite the apparent styling updates, the most extensive upgrades focused on the 999cc engine.

Now Euro 5 compliant, the 2nd-gen GSX-S1000 offers 150hp @ 11,000rpm compared to the 143hp found on the 2015 model.

The new motorcycle also received a new intake, new exhaust camshaft, new valve springs, clutch and airbox.

The 2021 Suzuki GSX-S1000 is now available for viewing at authorized Suzuki dealership.

The 2021 Suzuki Burgman 400 has now landed in Malaysia and is available for RM45,999.

Despite no official announcement from Suzuki Malaysia yet, one of the local dealers has already advertised the new maxi-scooter together with the official price on Facebook.

Nevertheless, the Burgman 400 is set to compete in the maxi-scooter class against BMW’s C 400 X and C 400 GT, Honda Forza 350 and the SYM TL500.

Suzuki is always known for staying true to its heritage, which is why the Burgman 400 remains true to its original blueprint. 

While it may seem outdated, this doesn’t necessarily constitute a bad thing; moreover, the Burgman 400 has been doing quite well in other parts of the world.

Nonetheless, the Burgman 400 has gained some significant updates for 2021.

The maxi-scooter now features a revised 400cc single-cylinder fuel-injected, DOHC liquid-cooled engine that has been fitted with a new twin-spark cylinder head to ensure a cleaner and efficient burn.

The Hamamatsu factory has also revamped the ignition timing to ensure easier startup, smoother idling and comfortable power delivery.

According to Suzuki Japan, the updates has allowed the Burgman 400 to meet the Euro 5 emission standard. Despite the significant update, the scooter continues to make 29hp and 35.2Nm @4,900rpm.

Other significant upgrades include nifty traction control, ABS and full LED lighting.

Most importantly, its ample 42L under-seat storage and a handy 12V power outlet have been carried over from the previous generation.
