RS-GP

Tahun 2022 menjadi tahun penting buat Aprilia apabila meraikan ulang tahun ke-30 kejayaan merangkul kejuaran dunia Grand Prix sulung.

In conjunction with Aprilia’s 30th anniversary of its maiden Grand Prix title, the Noale factory has introduced a specially built RSV4 Xtrenta.

  • The Aprilia RSV4 XTrenta is the first production bike to feature a MotoGP-derived under-wing (aka The Spoon).
  • The XTrenta makes a 230hp with 165kg.

The timing couldn’t be better as Aprilia is currently having its best season so far in MotoGP, with the likes of Aleix Espargaro winning the Argentinian GP followed by Maverick Vinales seizing his second podium of the season at Misano.

Jumping on Aprilia’s Grand Prix racing pedigree, the RSV4 Xtrenta features all the goodies from the firm’s RS-GP machine.

Firstly, the RSV4 Xtrenta utilized the same PAN Compositi process used by MotoGP teams. As such, the bike track-only motorcycle gets the same aerodynamic appendages and rear winglets similar to the RS-GP.

The XTrenta is also the first production bike to feature the swingarm-mounted MotoGP under-wing (The Spoon) that helps to regulate tire temperature.

Aprilia also revised the 1,099cc V4 engine on the RSV4 Xtrenta by increasing the compression ratio. Also, thanks to the newly-developed SC-Project titanium carbon exhaust system, the Xtrenta makes a whopping 230 peak horsepower.

Ensuring the engine runs at optimal temperature, the XTrenta features superbike-derived Taleo Tecnoracing water and oil radiators.

Other unique features available on the RSV4 Xtrenta include a specially-calibrated Magneti Marelli control unit, JetPrime racing panels, refined Ohlins suspensions and forged magnesium Marchesini M7R Genesi wheels.

Also, thanks to its lightweight construction, stopping is easier with Brembo GP4-MS billet monoblock callipers paired with a 330mm T-drive disc.

Limited to just 100 units, the Aprilia RSV4 Xtrenta will go on sale on 6 September for EUR50,000, which easily translates to RM222,400.

RNF Aprilia has officially announced Miguel Oliveira and Raul Fernandez as the team riders for the 2023 season ahead of the the Gran Premio Gryfyn di San Marino e della Rivieria di Rimini.

  • Raul Fernandez and Miguel Oliveira joins Aprilia’s newest satelite team next season.
  • Both riders will ride onboard the Aprilia RS-GP.

The former KTM riders will join the newly formed team headed by Razlan Razali after agreeing a two-year deal.

According to the team official statement, both riders will ride on board the Aprilia RS-GP machine for the next season.

That said, the announcement completes team RNF Aprilia line-up for the 2023 and 2024 season.

Meanwhile, Razlan Razali expressed his excitement over the new recruitment while also looking forward to the new season.

“We are extremely excited to welcome Miguel Oliveira and Raúl Fernandez to the WithU RNF MotoGP Team from 2023.

“It has not been a simple process, but together with Aprilia we are very clear on the riders that we wanted.

“They are both young riders with a good combination of experience coming from Miguel and Raúl who I’m personally a fan of since he shocked the Moto2 category last year to become Vice Champion.

“To finally secure him, is fantastic. Both, Aprilia and we believe in the talent of both riders, so we can’t wait for them to ride for us next season!,” he said.

SC-Project will continue to supply exhaust for the Aprilia MotoGP team until 2024 after agreeing on a two-year extension.

  • SC-Project supplied Aprilia’s RS-GP exhaust system since 2021.
  • The Italian company becomes Aprilia’s Official Technical Partner.

Aprilia and SC-Project partnership began in 2021 with the Italian manufacturer developing the exhausts for Aprilia’s RS-GP machine.

Since then, Aprilia took its first MotoGP podium in 2021 before claiming the maiden MotoGP race win in 2022 and is currently fighting for the World Championship with Aleix Espargaro.

That said, SC-Project has become an integral part of Aprilia’s climb to world championship glory.

“A solid and ambitious project like ours needs partners who share our same values.

“The one with SC-Project is a natural bond: two great Italian companies, technological leaders in their segments, with a sporty and innovative DNA.

“This is why we are proud to announce the continuation of our relationship, a path of common growth that, I have no doubt, will lead Made in Italy to excel on tracks all over the world,” said Aprilia Racing CEO Massimo Rivola.

Also, the two-year extension will now see SC-Project become the Official Technical Partner of Aprilia MotoGP. The SC-Project exhaust will be found in Aprilia’s production race bike department, including the RS660 Trofeo and the RS250 SP.

Meanwhile, Aprilia Racing Technical Director Romano Albesiano is relishing the extended partnership.

“The exhaust system is a key element of our new V4 engine, which is proving to be one of the most competitive in MotoGP.

This is also thanks to the technical synergy with SC-Project, a dynamic and competent company with whom we have established a profitable relationship. In a championship where it is the details that make the real difference, it is essential to be able to count on a supplier that has the technology and expertise to contribute to the development of our RS-GP project,” he said.

Aprilia’s Alex Espargaro secured a superb pole position in front of his home town Catalunya as the Spaniard smashes the lap record for the second time on board the RS-GP 22.

  • Espargaro continues his run of form to secure the pole at Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya.
  • The Spaniard claimed a new lap record of 1m 38.742s.

Already in his 13th MotoGP season with the RS-GP, Espargaro continued his fine form in Q2 after setting a new lap benchmark in FP3 to take pole ahead of Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati) and Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha).

Bagnaia came close to claiming his third position in four races this season, but he ended the lap just 0.031s short.

Meanwhile, Quartararo will begin his title defence at the third spot in an effort to stay ahead of the championship standings.

Pramac’s Johann Zarco did well to claim the 4th spot and will start ahead of Mugello pole winner Fabio Di Giannantonio as the Italian continued his impressive single lap momentum as he did last week.

Jorge Martin completed an all-Ducati second row in sixth place.

However, it was a disastrous session for factory Ducati seat favourite Enea Bastinini, as the young rider failed to progress past Q1 and will start 14th.
