KTM Malaysia

Model Super Duke R tetap layak mendapat julukan “The Beast” walaupun tidak lagi memegang gelaran supernaked paling berkuasa.

We have saved the best for last, and it is the 2024 KTM 1390 Super Duke R which was also launched in Malaysia.

One can only use superlatives to describe the bike, being the most bonkers among the Orange Team. It still deserves “The Beast” moniker despite not holding the title of the most powerful supernaked. This is one serious motorcycle that will leave your brain struggling to catch up after you have whacked the throttle fully open.

In any sense, the 2024 KTM 1390 Super Duke R represents the apex of 30 years of the Duke, hence getting a total revamp.

  • Mod TRACK, seperti namanya membolehkan penunggang mengawal tahap bantuan penunggang, selain mengaktifkan kawalan pelancaran.
  • PERFORMANCE menambah kawalan pelayaran dan sambungan Bluetooth.
  • Terdapat skrin TFT-LCD 5-inci baharu.

More Team Orange news: The much awaited 2024 KTM 990 Duke has arrived in Malaysia.

The “990 Duke” name is hallowed among long-time KTM fans, as it was the previous edition that unleashed KTM’s propensity for making bonkers naked bikes, paving the way for the beastly 1290 Super Duke.

So, although the 990 shares some of the underpinnings of the midrange Dukes, it is much closer to the big boss 1390 Duke.

Highlights of the 2024 KTM 990 Duke
  • The most eye-catching feature is the new styling, of course, which we admit splits opinion.
  • That light cluster is functional, nonetheless: The headlights adjust automatically to ambient lighting, flanked by DRLs.
  • The engine is the now-ubiquitous LC8c parallel-twin much like the ones on the 790 Duke and 890 Duke R.

  • However, the 990’s 947cc LC8c features new pistons, connecting rods, and crankshaft, plus more aggressive cam profiles.
  • Coupled to a new exhaust system, the engine does 123 hp at 9,500 RPM and 103 Nm of torque at 6,750 RPM.
  • That power is sent through a six-speed transmission and the usual PASC clutch.

  • The powerplant is housed in a new steel trellis frame, while the subframe is aluminium and bolted-on.
  • Suspension is what else but WP, since the brand is owned by KTM. Up front are WP Apex 43 mm diameter upside-down forks with five levels of compression and rebound adjustments.
  • At the back is a WP Apex Monotube monoshock with a lighter spring, 10 levels of preload, and 5 levels of rebound damping adjustments.

  • The front brake system consists of dual 300mm lightweight discs, serviced by four-piston calipers.
  • The rear brake has a two-piston caliper and 240mm disc.
  • Cornering ABS is standard, of course, utilising the Bosch 9.3 MP system.

  • As usual, a ride-by-wire throttle enables riding aids, such as three traction control and three ride modes, while TRACK and PERFORMANCE modes are optional.
  • TRACK mode, as the name suggests allow for the rider to control levels of rider aid, besides activating launch control.
  • PERFORMANCE adds cruise control and Bluetooth connectivity.
  • There is a new 5-inch TFT-LCD screen.
  • KTM claims the bike weighs a lithe 179 kg wet, with 14.8 litres of fuel.

The 2024 KTM 990 Duke is priced from RM 99,800.

The 2024 KTM 250 Duke was also launched in Malaysia, together with the 2024 KTM 390 Duke. And as with its bigger 390 sibling, the 250 Duke also sees many updates to make it virtually a new motorcycle altogether.

Highlights of the 2024 KTM 250 Duke
  • Starting with the engine, there is no capacity bump, since it is already at 249cc.
  • The engine dimensions remain the same, as with its maximum power output of 30.8 hp (23 kW) and torque of 25 Nm, despite being Euro 5.2 compliant.

  • Its clutch is now KTM’s PASC (Power Assist Slipper Clutch), upgraded from the previous slipper clutch without power assist.
  • The engine is nestled in the signature steel trellis frame, although the subframe is bolted on.

  • Front suspension duty is handled by 43mm upside-down WP APEX big piston forks, with no adjustability.
  • The rear monoshock is mounted to the ride side of the frame, and adjustable for preload only.

  • A new curved aluminium swingarm to mount the shock increases the wheelbase.
  • The front brake consists of a single 320mm disc checked by a four-piston caliper.

  • The rear brake has a 240mm disc, and 2-piston floating caliper.
  • Since there is a new subframe, its seats have been redesigned to be more supportive and plusher, especially for the pillion.

  • The riders seat height is also adjustable between 800mm and 820mm.
  • The headlamp has been redesigned to look similar to the 390 Duke’s although it does not have the same DRLs.

  • All lighting are LED.
  • The 2024 KTM 250 Duke has the same design language as the entire Duke range such the radiator panels, side panels, tank.
  • Electronics wise, the new bike has a new 5-inch LCD screen with connectivity functions.

The 2024 KTM 250 Duke is priced from RM 22,500 with Quickshifter+.

The 2024 KTM 390 Duke was launched in Malaysia. It features some of the biggest updates since its initial launch back in 2012. In fact, it might as well be called an all-new bike altogether.

Starting from its design, the 2024 bike has a much closer familial resemblance to its larger cousins, namely the 890 Duke R, 990 Duke, and 1390 Super Duke R. The new headlight cluster has also been redesigned to give the bike a new signature look. The radiator covers are moulded with spoilers, but thankfully, no winglet.

Highlights of the 2024 KTM 390 Duke
  • The Euro 5.2-compliant engine sees a capacity bump to 398.7cc from 373cc, hence a redesigned cylinder head.
  • There is not much in terms of power increase however, just up to 44.25 hp and 39 Nm, from 44 hp and 37 Nm from the previous iteration.

  • However, what KTM sought is not to lose engine power due to the more restrictive Euro 5.2 standard, hence the capacity increase.
  • The frame is now two-piece, with the aluminium subframe bolted onto the steel trellis main frame.

  • A new curved aluminium swingarm accommodates the rear monoshock.
  • The monoshock is mounted off-centre, enabling a larger airbox. A larger airbox should smooth out the engine’s power delivery.

  • The split piston monoshock is adjustable for preload and rebound (finally!).
  • Up front are 43 mm WP APEX Open Cartridge forks with 5-step adjustment for rebound and compression.

  • Braking duty is handled by a single four-piston caliper gripping a 320mm disc in front, and a 240mm disc at the back.
  • Cornering ABS is now standard, and as usual, the rider can switch to Supermoto ABS to deactivate the rear wheel’s ABS.

  • There have been market feedback than the Duke’s seat is a little tall for us Asian riders, so the 2024 KTM 390 Duke has an adjustable seat height feature to set it to 800 mm or 820 mm.
  • There is a new 5-inch TFT-LCD display, too. TRACK mode emphasises the tachometer display, while also bringing up the lap timer and gear indicator.

  • The said mode will activate the launch control feature (yummy!).
  • Unfortunately, all these changes have added 16 kg to the bike, now at 165 kg compared to 149 kg.
  • There are two colour choices: Electronic Orange, and Atlantic Blue.

The 2024 KTM 390 Duke is priced from RM 35,800, with the Quickshifter+ feature.

Ciri-ciri utama KTM 390 Duke (2024)

  • Lengan ayun aluminium melengkung baharu memuatkan monoshock belakang.

When it comes to big fun on two-wheels, KTM is one of the best at it. Most of the bikes it makes has some racing pedigree, with the brand dabbling in major race series the world for as long as most of us can remember.

And it is through everything that it learns in its racing endeavors that it makes some of the best bikes in the business. And the great thing about the KTM brand is that it has a bike for every budget and riding preference.

Take the two models seen here for example. Priced at RM13,888, the Duke 200 is the smallest sibling of the Supermoto range of KTM bikes. Those in the know will understand that when it comes to supermotos, KTM is arguably the best at it.

On the other hand, the RC200 is priced at RM15,888 and despite sporting a full fairing, it shares the basics with the Duke 200 such as the engine, the electronics, the suspension and the braking system. But it offers a very different riding style as compared to its naked sibling. In these two bikes, there’s something to satiate two very different riding preferences.

Powering both bikes is a 200cc, single-cylinder engine making 26hp and 19.5Nm of torque. Now that may not sound like a lot of power, but it is the way the power is delivered that makes a huge difference.

Almost all that power is made at the upper end of the RPM band and that gives the engine a rev happy character. Both bikes need to be truly strung up to be fully enjoyed and it is not that difficult to do that thanks to a slick-shifting 6-speed gearbox.

The Duke 200 features a close ratio gearbox while the ratios on the RC200 are a little higher. That and different engine tuning gives both bikes different characters.

The Duke 200 for starters feels like the naughtier one of the two siblings. It’s upright Supermoto-like sitting position adds to the drama it offers. It has a purposeful feel to it. Like it is always ready to take on the tightest of corners at your favorite track.

It also comes with two riding models – Road for regular everyday road riding and a Supermoto mode as well. And because the bike comes with a twin-channel ABS system with braking duties managed by ByBre calipers, this mode basically limits ABS intervention at the rear wheels. And this allows the rider to lock up and slide the rear wheel into a corner. It is an amazingly fun feature for a bike with this price tag.

The suspension is made up of 43mm upside down forks provided by WP Suspension upfront and a WP monoshock at the rear, adjustable for pre-load. There really is no drama with the suspension system soaking up and having just the right amount and consistent dive. Giving it a very predictable, sporty yet comfortable riding character.

But what makes the bike truly fun and easy to ride is the fact that it is extremely lightweight – weighing in at just 140kg (dry). This was achieved by using high quality lightweight materials and a new split steel trellis frame that saves weight and adds rigidity.

The position of the exhaust too contributes to the nimble handling of the bike – making it a breeze to pick it up and drop it into corners all day long. The exhaust of the Duke 200 and RC200 has been placed at the very bottom of the bike, and it is a functional design. With most of the exhaust load placed at the bottom of the bike, this lowers the center of gravity and concentrates the weight at the bottom, making it easy for the rider to pick up the bike mid corner. Something like a pivot point.

Despite its sport character and aggressive design, the Duke 200 is surprisingly frugal. The fuel tank measures in at 13.4-liters, and in a real-world test during the few days that we had the bike, we saw a range of 360km. The official fuel consumption figure is rated at 13.4-litres per 100km, an astonishing feat considering that the Duke 200 is meant to be a fun naked sport bike.

But while the Duke 200 offers a naughtier approach to riding, the RC200 is more polished. The Duke 200 loves it when you manhandle it and chuck it in and out of corners, and perhaps wheelie your way into the next corner. The RC200 though prefers long sweeping corners with a transition to tight, hard corners.

The RC200 is a proper track day weapon, one that you can also ride daily to the office thanks to adjustable handlebars. The clip-on handlebars are 15mm higher than the previous generation models for a more comfortable ride. And at just the turn of a screw you can lower it by up to 10mm for a more aggressive sitting position ideal for track days or for a corner carving ride up the mountain.

The design of the bike is the first thing that attracts you. It looks like a proper sports bike and that is because it has been designed using the same CFD software as KTM uses to design its Moto3 race bikes.

Up front, the headlight and windshield look like they are part of a single element but are three individual components that house the halogen headlamp, the Daytime Running LED lights, and the turn signals. If you blacken it and stick on a number, it looks like the front of a race bike.

But it does not only look like a race bike, but that windshield also offers class-leading wind protection. Making the RC200 incredibly comfortable to ride even at high speeds, but yet looks menacing.

And that is the very essence of the RC200, a bike that does not only look like it was born on a track, but track life is why it was born in the first place. Everything else in between is just something the RC200 just happens to do and does it well.

Even the side mirrors are purposeful, having been specifically designed to be aerodynamic, the mirrors are also foldable to give the RC200 a slimmer profile which makes it easier to slice through traffic when needed.

But looks aside, the RC200 has some serious performance credentials identical to the Duke 200. It shares the same engine, the same suspension and even the same ByBre braking system with a Bosch 9.1 MB two channel ABS braking system.

And just like the Duke 200, the RC200 too comes with the same two riding modes. The Supermoto mode also manages ABS intervention and an experienced rider will enjoy locking up and sliding the rear of the bike on track days.

Adding to the joy of riding the RC200 is a new lightweight split trellis frame that is identical to the Duke 200, but this time it comes with a bolted on subframe that is said to add to the stiffness of the bike, letting the rider place it exactly where he wants it to be before and in a corner.

The RC200 is undoubtedly a proper entry level sport bike that will appeal to those looking to trade up from an underbone or simply looking for their first sport bike. But its sporting abilities aside, it also offers some decent practicalities such as the larger fuel tank that measures in at 13.7-litres and provides a range of over 400km in the right hands.

And that is the appeal of the Duke 200 and the RC200, sporting abilities with everyday practicalities. And this time, KTM Malaysia is also throwing in a free maintenance package that includes free engine oil, free labor and a free air filter worth RM1,237 until March 31st, making this the best possible time to get one if you are looking for a bike for some corner munching fun and for everyday practicality.

More than a year since its global introduction, the 2022 KTM RC390 has finally landed in Malaysia with a recommended selling price of RM33,800.

  • KTM claimed the new RC390 is heavily inspired by the firm’s effort in MotoGP.
  • The 2022 KTM RC390 features lighter frame, increased aerodynamics and higher torque engine.

Despite the long wait, the official introduction of the latest generation RC390 will put a smile on the brand loyalist.

Coming in new for 2022 is a reworked front fairing to accommodate a new single-piece LED headlight.

Moving on to the bike’s overall look, KTM claimed that MotoGP-derived lines and graphics heavily inspire the new RC390.

Interestingly, the entire body structures are now easily removable thanks to a redesigned mounting systems that allow the use of fewer fasteners and clips.

Not only the new bodywork is more aerodynamic thanks to the computational fluid dynamics (CFD) process, but it also removes the flow of hot air coming from the engine.
