  • The 2019 Ducati Hypermotard 950 has been introduced during the recent Ducati 2019 World Premiere.

  • Fitted with a new its 937cc Testastretta 11° twin-cylinder engine, the new Hypermotard 950 produces 114hp and 96Nm of torque.

  • Two different have been introduced which are the base Hypermotard 950 and the Hypermotard 950 SP.

There are a lot of things to write about the recent Ducati 2019 World Premiere bike launches and the one that really got to us (apart from the 2019 Ducati Panigale V4 R super-beast) is the 2019 Ducati Hypermotard 950. The next-generation supermoto hooligan now comes with specs that’ll really turn things up all the way to 11. (more…)

  • Ducati introduced the 2019 Ducati Panigale V4 R at the World Ducati Première 2019.

  • The 998cc engine produces 217 bhp, but the race exhaust brings it up to 231 bhp.

  • The new bodywork has winglets.

  • It weighs only 193 kg, fully fueled and ready to ride.

We expected the unveiling of the 2019 Ducati Panigale V4 R during the Ducati World Première 2019 and it didn’t disappoint.

The Panigale V4 R is the homologation model for World Superbike and other production-based superbike racing series. Production racing calls for the race bikes to have certain similarities to the road bike. Therefore, manufacturers build a specific number of “homologation” models, based on their production figures. The Panigale V4 R fills these requirements.

Its engine capacity is limited to 1000cc as per the rules for V-Four and inline-Four powered bikes, as a result. However, the Panigale V4 R’s 998cc engine punches out 217 bhp and 112 Nm of torque. In the interest of superior power-to-weight ratio, it weighs only 193 kg, fully fueled and ready to ride.

Wait, hang on. 217 bhp not enough for you, sir? Well, you can always add on the Ducati Performance exhaust made by Akrapovic to pump it up to a vicious 231 bhp. That’s the same power output as the Kawasaki Ninja H2 – without the benefit of a supercharger.

The 1103cc Desmosedici Stradale engine in the Panigale V4 and Panigale V4 S produces 212 bhp and 120 Nm of torque, by comparison.

2018 Ducati Panigale V4S Test & Review

The Panigale V4 R’s weight reduction is also the result of using lighter engine internals components. Ducati used forged pistons, titanium valves, titanium conrods, new camshaft and larger throttle body. The lighter components allow the Desmosedici Stradale R engine to rev higher to a maximum of 16,500 RPM. Peak power output is at 15,520 RPM, 2,250 RPM higher than the 1103cc engine.

A “manual” suspension system also reduces weight compared to the electronic system found on the Panigale V4 S.

The updated electronics system includes a pitlane speed limiter, GPS-lap timer, besides the present IMU (Inertial Measurement System) based Cornering ABS and lean angle sensitive traction control, wheelie control, launch control, engine brake control and rear-wheel slide control.

The biggest news however, should be the winglets and new bodywork on the V4 R. The winglets represent Ducati’s intensive research and development in that area. The new bodywork also features large “gills” on both sides to aid airflow through the radiator.

Its price should be released at the EICMA show later this week.

  • An updated Ducati Multistrada 950 has been spotted.

  • The new bike should include a number of new features.

  • Sources say it may also receive an IMU.

The Ducati Multistrada 950 is a more accessible option to Ducati’s sport-tourer line-up in both pricing and operations.

Compared to its big brother the Multistrada 1260, the Multistrada 950 is much simpler. Riders do not have to contend with fiddling around with the electronics, that’s for sure. Indeed, we have come across many riders who don’t have any idea on what they’ve set on their bikes.

Apart from that, the 950’s 113bhp power output is certainly easier to handle than the 158 bhp on the 1260.

So, the Multistrada 950 is in some ways a better and more versatile bike. But it’s definitely time for an update to keep it in the game.

Just as so, MCN spotted an updated Multistrada 950 undergoing road tests.

The upper fairing now matches the Multistrada 1260’s and swingarm is of lighter grey than the current version.

The engine looks similar outwardly, but the new bike will apparently receive a new hydraulic clutch. The Scrambler has gone that way, so we expect the Multistrada to follow suit. The engine may also be updated since there is a new Hypermotard on the way. If so, we ought to see a power increase to 120 bhp. There could be a bi-directional quickshifter, too.

The new Multistrada 950 may well receive an Inertial Measurement Unit (IMU), enabling Cornering ABS and lean-sensitive traction control. These will open up the bike’s safety spectrum together with the present ride modes.

  • Ducati has unveiled the 2019 Ducati Multistrada 1260 Enduro.

  • It uses the same engine as the road-going Multistradas and XDiavel, bumping its power to 158 bhp and 127 Nm.

  • Ducati has revised the ergonomics to make it accessible to medium sized riders.

The 2019 Ducat Multistrada 1260 Enduro has been unveiled after the Italian manufacturer teased us with shots of a muddy bike.

The launch of the Multistrada 1260 Enduro followed in the footsteps of the Multistrada 1260 and Multistrada 1260 S road models.

The new Enduro’s main highlight is the new engine, of course. The 1262cc, DVT-equipped Tetastretta 11o, 90o V-Twin (Ducati calls it “L-Twin”) is a common platform among other two Multistradas and XDiavel.

The extra 64cc pushes power output to 158 bhp and an arm stretching 127 Nm of torque.  The Multistrada Enduro ought to benefit the most as 85% of the peak torque is available from below 3,500 RPM, in addition to the smoother power delivery of the DVT-equipped engine, especially in off-road conditions.

Of course, where would the Multistrada 1260 Enduro be if without Ducati’s extensive electronics suit that’s akin to a two-wheeled supercomputer.

Cornering ABS and IMU-based traction control, cornering lights, wheelie control, hill-start assist, up and down quick shifter, semi-active Sachs suspension are all standard on the Enduro. The display layout on the TFT display has also been revised to mimic that of the Ducati Panigale V4. Riders can use the Ducati Link App to adjust various riding modes, rider aid besides recording routes.

Ducati has also reworked the bike’s ergonomics, although it looks similar to the previous model’s. As a result, the 1260 Enduro has a lower centre of gravity and seat height, making it more accessible to a wider range of riders.

The massive 30-litre fuel-tank remains. So do the spoked 19” front and 17” rear wheels.

There are not that many things in life that most folks consider as ‘complete’. And yet when they are found, it brings a level of joy only known to the beholder no matter how big or small that thing may be.

From a simple delicious pack of nasi lemak with a whole egg inside or listening to the world’s most perfect song (it’s ‘Paranoid Android’ by Radiohead, if you’re wondering), this very feeling is massively difficult to replicate on a machine like the motorcycle. (more…)
