Fabio Quartararo recorded his fourth consecutive pole position in style at Mugello ahead of Sunday’s Italian GP.

The factory Yamaha rider displayed incredible speed to clinch pole position with 1m 45.187s, breaking the lap record set by Francesco Bagnaia in FP3 with 1m 45.456s.

“This was probably the best lap I have ever done in my life.

“This is the type of track where you can feel the adrenaline. I was on the limit everywhere. In the first sector, I was moving all the time, but I just said, ‘I’m going to send it.

“Today was a good day. I really wanted this pole position because I know it’s important for us for the race,” said Quartararo.

Meanwhile, Bagnaia and Johann Zarco will accompany Quartararo at the front row after securing P2 and P3, respectively.

Despite struggling with a group of riders seeking a slipstream, Zarco managed to move up from twelfth place, thus putting him in an excellent spot to continue chasing the championship points.

Aleix Espargaro secured another impressive start to the season by coming in at P4, his best qualifying result so far onboard the RS-GP.

Jack Miller is also looking to continue his back-to-back wins in Jerez and Le Mans from P5 on the grid.

Fabio Quartararo secured his first win of 2021 after overcoming ninth place at the Losail International Circuit.

The Frenchman showed a similar performance to that of his team-mate, Maverick Vinales, who won the opening round last weekend.

The former Petronas Sepang Racing Team (SRT) rider crosses the finish line ahead of fellow countrymen and Pramac (Ducati) Racing rider Johann Zarco.

Meanwhile, MotoGP rookie Jorge Martin, leading the pack until the final stage of the race, clinched his maiden premier class podium at 3rd.

“I feel like this win gives me much more confidence than the wins from last year as I came from far back.

“In the test, it was difficult and I say woah, because the Ducati are fast in the straight and in the pace and it would be difficult to beat them.

The 21-year-old rider admitted that he was worried when Ducati dominated the qualifying session on both weekends with incredible speed.

However, Quartararo managed to play the YZR-M1 strengths, coming into every turn faster than their rivals.

“Felt so good with the bike. Also turn 8, 9,10 and 15, so it is good that we have great confidence on the front, because all the other riders are riding so fast but sometimes you make an overtake and you don’t know what is going to happen later.

“You know, you feel the front moving, but that’s something we didn’t have last year. I was just going into the corner with no feeling and then just losing the front.

“But with this bike, I felt like I have a little bit more confidence on the front and I feel much more the limit. In the end, this is what I need to go fast. We have it now in Qatar and I’m crossing the finger to have it in all the races,” he added.

MotoGP will resume on April 18 at Portimao, Portugal, a brand new track that hosted the final round of last season MotoGP.

Maverick Vinales pulls one of the best races in his career by taking the win in Qatar after overcoming eighth place at the end of lap one.

Meanwhile, Johann Zarco of team Pramac Racing finished second, followed by MotoGP newcomer and Ducati factory team rider, Francesco Bagnaia who completes the podium at third place.

The race begins with a Ducati onslaught as Bagnaia led the race, followed by Zarco, Jack Miller, and Jorge Martin.

However, Vinales and teammate Fabio Quartararo settled down and began to chase the front pack, which led Martin to fall down the pecking order before finishing 15th.

Miller, who was impressive throughout the pre-season test, had to succumb to 9th place, finishing behind Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro, who took 8th.

Nevertheless, Vinales was the most impressive rider among the flock, making up most of his time sweeping corners by using Turn 10 and 15 to his advantage.

With five laps to go, Vinales managed to pull away even further from Zarco and Bagnaia.

Late into the final stage, 2020 world champion Joan Mir set to finished behind Vinales after superb overtaking at the last sector from Zarco.

However, Zarco and Bagnaia frightening speed on board the GP21 at the final straight was proven too much for the Spaniard, who had to settle for 4th.

2021 MotoGP will resume next week in Qatar.
