Ducati North America has announced a safety recall for all 2020 through 2023 Panigale V2 motorcycles, citing a software error that could pose a potential hazard to riders.

  • The glitch may cause the headlight daylight position lamp (DRL) to activate while riding at night, compromising visibility and increasing the risk of accidents.
  • Similar incidents recorded in China, Spain, Japan, The US, and the UK.

Approximately 3,315 motorcycles are estimated to be affected by the recall, accounting for approximately five percent of the Panigale V2 population in North America. The recall covers units produced between December 4, 2019, and May 23, 2023. It is important to note that the affected motorcycles’ vehicle identification numbers (VINs) are not sequential, ranging from ZDMHAATW0LB000230 to ZDMHAATWXPB012777.

The issue first came to light in February 2023 when several Panigale V2 owners reported malfunctions with the instrument panel automatic light switch.

Ducati conducted an investigation following complaints from various global markets, including China, Spain, Japan, the US, and the UK. The company’s internal analysis revealed a software calibration error in a dashboard photodiode responsible for controlling the instrument panel backlight and DRLs.

To help owners identify if their motorcycle is affected, Ducati has programmed the photodiode to serve as a warning by changing the color of the dashboard backlight. Additionally, owners can manually switch on the low beam headlight using the left handlebar switchgear to ensure proper illumination during night riding.

Ducati North America is urging all owners of affected motorcycles to visit their local authorized Ducati dealer as soon as possible to rectify the issue. The recall service will be provided free of charge, including the necessary software recalibration.

Denali’s have made the brand a mainstay in the adventure world thanks to their high-power fog lamps, auxiliary lights, and horns that are known for their ability to illuminate the road and trail while alerting other road users.

Now, the Ducati DesertX, already hailed as one of the most off-road capable bikes in Ducati’s lineup, has received a comprehensive lighting system from Denali, further enhancing its impressive capabilities.

The centerpiece of the lighting system is Denali’s DialDim controller, a feature-rich accessory that allows for customizable settings. With an intuitive multi-color halo dial, riders can control two independent light circuits, including the high beam, horn, and turn signals. Denali’s DialDim system has garnered praise in the past, and the accompanying video showcases its impressive capabilities.

In addition to the DialDim system, Denali has introduced the T3 turn signal upgrade kits for the DesertX. These powerful lights replace the stock turn signals, featuring bright white running lights that switch to amber when the turn signals are activated. The rear pods serve multiple functions, acting as brake lights, rear fog lights, and rear turn signals.

For riders who desire even more lighting options, Denali has launched a driving light mount compatible with the DesertX’s OEM crashbar. This mount allows users to install any Denali auxiliary light on the crashbar while maintaining the bike’s clean, original look. Additionally, a lower mount is available for the smaller Denali DM, D2, S4, and D3 lights, positioning them at the same level as the front wheel for maximum visibility.

To complete the lighting upgrades, Denali offers the B6 brake light, providing a significantly brighter brake light with a remarkable 900 lumens, ensuring greater visibility and safety. Lastly, Denali presents a powder-coated steel horn mount designed specifically for the Denali SoundBomb Original air horn, renowned for its impressive volume and alerting capabilities.

Enthusiasts can now pre-order Denali’s new accessories for the Ducati DesertX through the brand’s official website,

Francesco Bagnaia continued his dominance in the MotoGP circuit by securing his third consecutive win at Mugello in a thrilling race. The Italian rider displayed exceptional skill and determination, outshining his competitors, with Jorge Martin finishing closely behind in second place.

The race initially saw Bagnaia making a strong start, but his lead was short-lived as Jack Miller quickly overtook him, rapidly advancing from fourth to first position. However, Bagnaia swiftly responded, regaining his lead just one corner later at turn two.

As the race progressed, the pace of the KTM rider faltered, allowing for intense moments on the track. At one point, a near collision loomed as both Marquez brothers and Luca Marini found themselves in a precarious situation.

Alex Marquez pushed too hard, out-braking himself into turn one, narrowly squeezing between his brother and Marini before running wide. Miller capitalised on the opportunity, reclaiming his position, but Marquez remained on the inside, jostling for control.

Meanwhile, Marc Marquez, in fourth place, faced a devastating setback as he crashed out of the Grand Prix for the fourth consecutive time. The crash occurred at the final corner while he was attempting to overtake Marini, but Marquez misjudged his line, losing the front-end and ending his race prematurely.

While Bagnaia and Martin maintained a stable gap of half a second between them, yellow flags were deployed in sector three due to Miguel Oliveira’s crash.

As the race continued, Alex Marquez, who had been in fourth position, made a move to claim third place from Marini on lap 12. However, Marquez ran slightly wide, allowing Marini to regain his position momentarily. Determined, Marquez tried again on lap 13, utilising his better rear grip to close in along the start-finish straight, successfully securing third place.

The battle for victory intensified on lap 14 when Bagnaia, who had initially held a lead of four tenths of a second, unleashed an impressive surge, extending his advantage to over six tenths of a second and ultimately crossing the finish line with a comfortable one-second lead.

The Marquez family’s challenging race took a turn for the worse when Alex crashed out of third place at turn two during lap 15. Despite the setback, Marini, eager to secure a podium finish on home soil, fought hard, attempting an immediate response after making a mistake at the final corner. Although he briefly managed to move ahead of Johann Zarco, the Italian struggled to fend off the French rider for an extended period and losses out his podium spot.

Ducati Malaysia has officially launched the 2023 Ducati Panigale V4 R with a recommended selling price of RM458,900.

  • The 2023 Ducati Panigale V4 R gets higher max rev at 16,500rpm.
  • DLC-coated piston and titanium conrod contributed to higher horsepower.

On paper, the 2023 Panigale V4 R produces 218hp @ 15,500rpm but Ducati has increased the maximum revs to 16,500rpm at 6th-gear.

However, by adding a new racing exhaust combined with Shell-developed fuel, the new Panigale V4 R can hit a peak power of 240.5hp.

The additional power is boosted by the use of gun-drilled titanium connecting rods and DLC-coated pistons, which Ducati claimed is a first for a road bike even though the technology is common in MotoGP machines and Formula 1 race cars.

Thanks to a new piston geometry, Ducati also reduced the inertia significantly and the weight by 5g.

In addition, the 2023 V4 R gets new engine modes with ‘Full’ and ‘Low’ added to the existing package. As the name goes, the ‘Full’ mode unleashes the full power of the V4 R while ‘Low’ reduces the power to 160hp, allowing for a calmer riding experience on the road. But hey, who are we to tell you not to go full blast on public roads?

Ducati also revised the Ducati Quick Shift system to allow for a smoother shift during partial and full throttle.

The 2023 Panigale V4 R remains faithful with Ohlins suspension, but the travel in the NPX25/30 pressurised fork is increased by 5mm.

Ducati also increases agility thanks to a higher swingarm pivot position that raises the rear height by 20mm. Also new on the 2023MY is a bigger 17L fuel tank.

Finally, the 2023 Panigale V4 R will be a numbered model, with each bike verified by a plaque on the steering head.
