Since its introduction, the Gelande Strasse nameplate has been BMW Motorrad’s most successful motorcycle.

To this day, the GS is considered the most popular adventure motorcycle of the modern era while also setting a benchmark in the adventure bike segment.

That said, the R 1250 GS sits comfortably on top of the food chain despite numerous attempts by other manufacturer to try and have a piece of the throne.

Currently, the R 1250 GS is available in various trims and colours, but BMW up the ante with the latest rendition revealed at the Alpes Aventures Motofestival.

Exclusive to the French market, the BMW R 1250 GS Spirit of GS Edition is limited to just 1,250 units, all of which will be sold exclusively in the country.

The limited edition motorcycle set itself apart from the base R 1250 GS with several key features, notably the new colourway.

The Spirit of GS edition features grey and orange accents creating an eye-catching aesthetic.

Also, the bike gets black and orange side scoops, wheel accents and an aluminium handguard as standard. BMW also stamped the serial number on the handlebar clamp to remind you of its rarity.

Other notable features include a smoked windscreen, engine spoiler and engine crash guard.

The 2022 BMW R 1250 GS Spirit of GS Edition is priced at EUR27,990 (RM127k).

The leg rest is a common additional feature on a cruiser because it allows you to stretch your legs out now and then.

  • Wunderlich’s latest innovations allow you to rest your legs on the BMW R18.
  • The leg rest sits above the boxer cylinder heads, away from the engine heat.
BMW R18 MALAYSIA

Some cruisers allow you to rest your leg on the footboards, or if you don’t have any, the engine guard is probably the next thing you can think of.

Even so, if the cruiser you’re riding has a massive 1,800cc boxer twin (yes, we are referring to the BWM R18), you have absolutely zero space to properly rest your leg during long rides.

BMW R18 MALAYSIA

However, thanks to Wunderlich’s latest leg rest, you can now safely rest your leg on the cylinder heads of the R18.

Wunderlich’s latest leg rest for the R18 is mounted on three separate points on the boxer engine. Interestingly, it doesn’t need additional support to work but is just a simple plug-and-play.

The leg rest is made from steel tubing and is precisely welded to form a top-quality platform to rest your legs. Also, the component is handmade in Germany and fits the R18 overall aesthetics.

That said, the leg rest sits above the cylinder head, so you wouldn’t suffer so much from the heat coming from the engine.

As for the price, the Wunderlich leg rest will cost you EUR379 (RM1.7k). If it seems pricey, then it is likely you don’t have the BMW R18 in your garage, just like us.

The BMW S 1000 RR was notably missing when BMW Motorrad revealed the list of updated models for 2023.

  • 2023 S 1000 RR to feature more power and better aerodynamics.
  • Noteworthy upgrades include an aerodynamic winglet taken from the M 1000 RR.

However, according to the latest development, the S 1000 RR sportsbike is getting a much-needed upgrade for 2023, according to a new type-approved document filed in Europe.

As expected, the 2023 S 1000 RR will adopt features from the firm’s flagship M 1000 RR, including aerodynamic winglets.

However, a noteworthy upgrade is done to the engine, which now makes 206.5hp @ 13,750rpm compared to 204hp available from the 2022 model.

Also, the electronics package is believed to receive some minor tweaks and adjustments; however, the ShiftCam engine with its unique VVT system will likely remain unchanged.

That said, BMW also adopted the M 1000 RR lower final-drive ratio onto the S 1000 RR. As a result, riders will feel the bike is quicker than the previous model.

The document also reveals a longer wheelbase, from 1440mm to 1457mm, similar to the M 1000 RR. However, the 2023 S 1000 RR weight is unchanged, which remains at 197kg.

That said, the 2023MY S 1000 RR will retain much of the bodywork from the 2022 model, and with the addition of an aerodynamic winglet and new paint job, there’s no doubt the upcoming S 1000 RR is eye-catching.

Based on reports, BMW will unveil the new motorcycle soon.

The BMW K 1600 GT is probably the best grand tourer machine on the market.

  • The K 1600 R is BymyCar latest bespoke creation.
  • The custom bike now weighs just 240kg, 100kg lighter than K 1600 GT.

The House of Munich recently updated its entire K 1600 lineup, including the GT, GTL, B and Grand America for 2022.

As a result, the 2022 KT 1600 gets engine drag torque control and next-generation Dynamic ESA suspension with fully automatic load compensation.

Other notable improvements include a new 10.25-inch TFT instrument cluster and an adaptive headlight.

Although the BMW K 1600 GT is a machine built for the open road, a BMW Motorrad dealer in France, BymyCar, took the newly updated K 1600 GT and gave it a radical touch.

BymyCar got rid of the bulky rear end and the massive panniers and threw in a new subframe and a single-saddle tail unit to create a different look. This, in turn, exposed the lengthy single-sided swingarm.

Dubbed the K 1600 R, the red-painted frame now becomes the new centrepiece of the motorcycle.

Interestingly, the bespoke machine still retains its 26 litres fuel tank, making the bike still capable of going the distance.

The bike looks like an S 1000 RR on steroid from the front, while the side profile looks enormous and aggressive thanks to exposed high-flow air intakes.

Mechanically, no changes is made to the engine, which means the K 1600 R continue to offer 160hp @ 6,570rpm and 180Nm. However, due to the extreme weight trimming, the K 1600 R now weighs just 240kg.

To complete the new look, the K 1600 R gets a new modern grey paint base with red graphics. According to BYmyCar, the K 1600 R will cost you a whopping EUR65,000 (RM290k).

BMW Motorrad always puts serious thought into developing front suspension.

  • BMW and ZF develop a new carbon fibre front end.
  • BMW won the 24-hour Spa of the EWC while testing the new carbon fibre telescopic fork.

The R 1250 GS is fitted with a Telelever front end, the K 1600 GT Duolever suspension is innovative, while the S 1000 RR semi-active unit is an integral part of the superbike setup.

However, BMW has up the ante in its latest joint venture with suspension experts and partner ZF (Zahnradfabrik) to develop a carbon fibre telescopic fork.

The collaboration is to develop the front fork for the BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team.

Firstly, carbon fibre front suspension is common in MotoGP, but it’s still a grey area for BMW as the House of Munich is not involved in the world championship.

As a result, the Endurance World Championship is BMW’s best bet to test out the new component.

The BMW M 1000 RR now features the said component, with the fork consisting of a carbon fibre outer tubed mated to a carbon fibre composite/metal inner tube. The metal fork legs slide within the carbon fibre tubes.

The lightweight material not only helps to reduce weight and allows BMW to study the M 1000 RR characteristic.

According to BMW Motorrad Motorsport Director Mark Bongers, the main focus during the development of carbon fibre forks is to test the bending loads.

“Using this material and this technology allows us to shift the threshold at which body vibrations occur.

“One major focus during development was the design of the homogeneous bending loads.

“The goal being for the throttle response for the rider to be extremely subtle, even under the most extreme strains. And feedback from the riders confirmed that the goal was achieved,” he said.

In an exciting development, the number 37 BMW M 1000 RR fitted with the carbon fibre telescopic fork won the 2022 24-Hour Spa of the Endurance World Championship.

Could the new component make its way to future BMW bikes? BMW certainly thinks so, but it will need to meet the strict homologation standards before that happens.

BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team is off to Japan for the third round of the FIM Endurance World Championship 2022.

  • BMW Motorrad to make official debut at the Suzuka 8 Hours.
  • The team will field Markus Reiterberger (GER), Ilya Mikhalchik (UKR) and Jérémy Guarnoni (FRA).

BMW Motorrad will debut at the Suzuka 8 Hours in great spirit having celebrated victory at the home race in ealry June.

Markus Reiterbger, Illya Mikhalchik and Jeremy Guarnoni will once again teamed up to ride the BMW M 1000 RR at Suzuka.

This will be BMW Motorrad World Endurance Team first appearance at the Suzuka 8 Hours after Covid-19 restriction prevented the team from taking part in the 8-hour race at Suzuka over the last two years.

“I am really looking forward to the Suzuka race. I’ve already been there twice with the Penz13 team, once for the test and once for the race.

“The track is breath-taking but very difficult to learn so it took us some time to get acquainted with it. Jérémy knew it already but for me it has been some time since I have been here and Ilya had not been here before at all.

“We then improved step by step, rode a lot and tested a lot of different things. We are still lacking a bit to the top teams but we don’t give up and continue or hard work. It will be an exhausting weekend,” said Reiterberger.

BMW Motorrad recently introduced the new BMW G 310 RR sportsbike in India.

  • the G 310 RR is a rebadge from TVS’s Apache RR 310.
  • the G 310 RR puts out 33.5hp and 27.3Nm.

The G 310 RR joins the already available G 310 GS and G 310 R, with all of the models sharing the same 310cc single-cylinder engine built in partnership with India’s TVS Motor Company.

After the successful introduction in India, BMW will now bring the 310 RR to China, as reported by Rushlane.

BMW Motorrad has sold more than 50,000 units of the G 310 range globally, of which 15,000 units were recorded in India alone, making the country the biggest market for the small capacity BMW branded bikes.

Understanding the rise in demand for a small-capacity motorcycle in China, the G 310 RR could do well in a country that shares a similar number of population with India
.
BMW Motorrad Head of Asia, China, Pacific and Africa, Markus Mueller-Zambre, explained that India would start exporting the G 310 RR to China soon, with the official launch will happen in the coming months.

In addition, Markus revealed that the G 310 RR would only be manufactured in India at the TVS manufacturing plant.

Considering how quickly BMW is pushing to export the new baby RR, it could also mean that we might see the bike in Malaysia soon enough.

Despite no further details, the G 310 RR is expected to land in Malaysia, considering the other two G 310 range is also available here. The G 310 R (2021) is available for RM27,500, while the G 310 GS is priced at RM29,500.

If the G 310 RR lands in Malaysia, it could cost slightly above RM30,0000.

The new BMW G 310 RR officially breaks cover in India after weeks of teasers and rumours.

  • features the same 313cc single cylinder engine that makes 33.5hp and 27.3Nm.

  • gets the same bodywork as the TVS Apache RR 310.

The pint-sized supersport is the latest addition to the G 310 range joining the G 310 R and G 310 GS that runs on the same TVS-powered 313cc single cylinder engine.

Like the G 310 GS and G 310 R before it, the G 310 RR makes 33.5hp @ 9,700rpm and 27.3Nm @ 7,700rpm. Also, the RR gets the same five spokes, 17-inch wheels as its roadster siblings.

Interestingly, aside from the BMW badge and graphics, the G 310 RR features the same bodywork as TVS’ Apache RR 310.

The G 310 RR is the spitting image of the Apache right from the front and all the way to the rear. What sets the two apart is the standard all-black livery and BMW M-Performance Sport colourway.

The G 310 RR is also equipped with the same vertically-oriented 5″ TFT display and offers smartphone connectivity.

Also, the RR gets four riding modes; Track, Urban, Rain and Sport.

According to BMW Motorrad India, the standard RR is priced at INR285,000 (RM15.9k), while the Sport trim is available for INR299,000 (RM16.6k).
