Benelli

  • The fully-faired Benelli 600RR sportbike was spotted in China.

  • It’s based on the 600cc naked bike.

  • It may also share the new TFT screen and keyless ignition.

Seems like the Chinese-Italian brand Benelli dropped a bombshell on us. We had been publishing updates on an upcoming 600cc naked bike, but suddenly pictures of the fully-faired Benelli 600RR sportbike began popping up over the internet.

The picture shows a bike based on the TnT600i platform but wearing the QJiang – for Qianjang Motorcycles (the owners of the Benelli brand) – in China. It’s speculated to be called the 600SRG, after the 600SRK naked bike in the People’s Republic. However, it may be called the 600RR in other markets.

As it’s based on the TnT600 platform, it’s evident that it retains the same engine and chassis. The differences are the underslung exhaust canister of the updated TnT600. There’s no close up shot but it may also include the new TFT screen and keyless ignition system of the new naked bike.

Eagle-eyed observers also pointed out that the 600RR wears reflectors on the fork legs, signaling Benelli’s wish to comply with European laws. The bike currently adheres to the China IV emission standard, which is the equivalent of Euro IV. Benelli would need to work on it to comply with Euro V if they wished to sell the bike in Europe.

It’s also speculated that the inline-Four engine produces 80 hp. That’s puts it in between the Kawasaki Ninja 650 (70 hp) and Honda CB650R (98 hp). However, the Benelli is (much) heavier at 215 kg.

There’s no information on whether Benelli had reworked the engine. During our last tests, the TnT600i had to be revved upwards of 6,000 RPM for any meaningful acceleration. The exhaust was something else, though.

There’s also no word on how much it costs or when it’ll be released in Malaysia, but we’ll keep you updated.

– Visordown

  • More photos of the new Benelli 600 and 1200 have been leaked online.

  • The photos also show new premium features on the 600.

  • The 1200 is currently being offered as a police bike.

More photos of the new Benelli 600 and 1200 have been leaked online.

But that’s not all. It seems that the 600 will be equipped with the latest electronics that’ve so far graced premium motorcycles. The photos below show a new colour TFT screen, besides a keyless go ignition system. Another photo shows backlit switchgear, although you can already find this feature in another Chinese bike.

Another photo shows the factory floor filled with the new 600cc bike, which is based on the current TnT600i. The different here is the underbelly silencer as opposed to the current underseat design. The bikes are look ready and are awaiting their bodywork.

There’s also a picture of the Benelli BJ1200J police bike, which resembles the BMW R 1250 RT. The Qianjiang Group (owners of Benelli) are hoping to compete with CFMoto and their CF1250J to equip China’s police force.

Benelli has a 1209cc three-cylinder engine based on the previous 1130cc three-cylinder which powered the TreK, Tornado and TnT1130. It produces 134 hp, compared to CFMoto’s 140 hp V-Twin which was based on the KTM 1279cc LC8.

It has to be said that Chinese motorcycle manufacturers are coming into the premium segment. Yes, there are still manufacturers who produce cheap knockoffs, but the premium makers are starting to become like Huawei who’s challenging the likes of Samsung and Apple.

  • Pictures of a new The Benelli TnT600i (or BN600i in other markets) were seemingly leaked over the internet.

  • The new bike shows aesthetic changes.

  • Mechanical parts look the same.

Pictures of a new The Benelli TnT600i (or BN600i in other markets) were seemingly leaked over the internet.

The new bike shows aesthetic changes, while the rest of its parts look status quo.

Starting from the front, the “new” bike will have a twin headlamp setup, differing from the current type which has been in circulation for a long time. The fuel tank also appears to have changed.

Apart from that, the exhaust silencers are no longer sited under the seat and are instead underslung under the engine. Doing so may save some weight as well as giving the bike a more centralized center of gravity.

With the silencers relocated, the tailsection looks tidier and a splash guard is mounted on the swingarm. It might carry the number plate plus turnsignals a la MV Agusta Brutale.

There is also speculation that this bike will receive a new TFT screen, which remains to be seen. Benelli has stuck with the conventional analogue RPM meter and an LCD screen for too long.

That howling inline-Four engine looks the same, although the exhaust headers are now aligned and parallel to each other.

We just hope that the previous random starting problems have been sorted.

If you’re a fan of Benelli motorcycles, better get yourselves prepared as they’re probably going to release a 1,200cc Benelli tourer sometime in the near future BUT with a more ‘grand tourer’ façade for those who are keen on travelling long distances in comfort and style. (more…)

  • The 2020 Benelli Leoncino 800 and 2020 Benelli Leconcino 800 Trail were launched at EICMA 2019.

  • Both share the same engine and frame.

  • The Trail has a 19-inch front wheel.

As expected, the 2020 Benelli Leoncino 800 and 2020 Benelli Leconcino 800 Trail were launched at EICMA 2019.

Pictures of the bike were leaked a couple of months back, but they didn’t indicate that there will be two variants. Both bikes share the same engine and frame platform. They are powered by a754cc liquid-cooled parallel-twin which produces 81.6 bhp at 9,000 RPM and 67 Nm of torque at 6,500 RPM. It’s power may not be as high as its contemporaries but the 2,500 RPM spread of power between maximum torque and horsepower shows that the engine has a wide powerband — “flexible” as we usually call it.

Both “Lion Cubs” (that’s what “Leoncino” means) use Benelli’s signature steel trellis frame.Stopping duties are handled by Brembo (instead of Benelli) monobloc brake calipers and 320 mm discs up front. ABS is standard.

The base version feature 17-inch wheels front and rear, while the Trail sees a 19-inch front and 10mm more suspension travel. The Trail’s most significant design cue are the twin upswept exhaust pipes.

The Leoncino pair are rather heavy. The base, street-oriented variant tips the scales at 220 kg, while the Trail is 224 kg.
