Ducati introduces new Monster 821

Its finally here, Ducati has taken the wraps off its new Monster 821 middleweight naked, a model it slots below the range’s flagship new Monster 1200.

As you can plainly see, the design is typically distinctive and unmistakable of the brand’s Monster model, but it boast several refinements similar to its larger sibling the Monster 1200 (read our first impression of it here), right down to sharing a similar double-sided swingarm design as well. Tipping the scale at roughly 180kg (dry), the Monster 821 is only 2.2kg lighter than the Monster 1200.

More importantly, it now has a new liquid-cooled 821cc Testastretta 11° V-twin heart lifted from the new Hypermotard. In the Monster 821, the mill is rated at 112hp and 89.3Nm.

Elsewhere, the new Monster 821 is kitted out with Ducati’s three-level ride-by-wire system, along with a three-level anti-lock braking system, eight-way adjustable traction control, and what Ducati describes as “’High-spec brakes, excellent suspension and stylish componentry.”

Available in its traditional red, white, and a ‘Dark’ black-painted edition, the new Monster 821 will go on sale in starting July this year priced between £8,995 and £8,795 in the UK, and $10,995 in the US market.
