Zero Motorcycles To Spark Electric Revolution In The Philippines

Zero Motorcycles, the American electric motorcycle manufacturer, has announced its latest partnership with Integrated Micro-Electronics, Inc. (IMI), a subsidiary of the Ayala Corporation and a leader in the Philippine motorcycle manufacturing sector.

The American electric motorcycle company to begin expanding its operation in Southeast Asia.

The deal will see Zero Motorcycles expand its global operations and accelerate the adoption of electric motorcycles in the Southeast Asian market.

The partnership will mark a first for the Philippine motorcycle industry as no full-scale electric motorcycles have been or are currently being produced in the country.

Through this partnership, IMI will handle the assembly of certain Zero Motorcycles models, as well as other assemblies in the former’s manufacturing facility in Laguna, with the facility working closely with Zero’s own manufacturing plant in California.

“We look forward to such an amazing collaboration to help bring their innovative electric motorcycles to the world. This partnership aligns with our commitment to supporting companies in their growth and sustainability efforts while providing high-quality manufacturing services,” said IMI’s CEO, Arthur R. Tan, in a statement.

While the specific bikes to be launched in the Philippines have not yet been confirmed, IMI hopes to begin production of Zero Motorcycles models and components as early as the second quarter of 2023. This partnership is an exciting development for the Philippine motorcycle industry, and a significant step towards sustainable transportation.

FIRST LOOK: Zero SR/X Concept

Zero, the US electric motorcycle manufacturer, has unveiled its latest concept motorcycle, the SR/X, in partnership with designer Huge Machine.

The SR/X features a distinctive design with half-fairing in light grey with red strip.

The SR/X was created as part of Zero’s “Design the Future Development Program” and is a reimagined version of the Zero SR/S sports bike. The bike features a distinctive design with a half-fairing in light grey with a red strip around the front, and a single wide headlight at the front. At the rear, the tail section appears to ‘float’ above the shock.

While there are not many specifications available yet for the concept bike, Zero says it is powered by their ZF75-10 electric motor and the ZF17.3 lithium-ion battery.

Bill Webb of Huge Machine said that the SR/X is an attempt to define a new sub-category for high-performance electric motorcycles, which combines clean lines and disciplined design with the aggressive proportions and raw functionality found in more traditional race bikes.

Webb explained, “The team wanted to create a dramatic and low ‘front-heavy’ silhouette with the bodywork that could juxtapose the fully exposed mechanicals towards the back of the bike in an unconventional way.

“The SR/S chassis/mechanicals that zero designed are impressive to look at and we wanted the raw bike underneath to be part of the final composition.”

Zero and Huge Machine have previously collaborated on the design of the Zero FXE and its concept motorcycle.

The SR/X is the latest example of their visionary concepts and Zero’s commitment to innovation. The new motorcycle strives to hit a design sweet spot for the near future of electric motorcycles, combining clean lines and disciplined design detailing with the aggressive stance and raw performance feel of modern litre bikes.

The concept bike aims to bridge the gap between a streetfighter and a track bike, with partial fairings and aero performance, as well as the raw attitude of the street.

FIRST LOOK: Zero DSR/X Electric Adventure Motorcycle

Electric motorcycle manufacturer, Zero Motorcycles, has pulled the wraps off its first adventure motorcycle, the Zero DSR/X.

The Zero DSR/X is a long-range electric adventure motorcycle.
The DSR/X is capable of hitting 290km city range and 137km highway range.

Coming in new for 2023, the Zero DSR/X features industry-leading Z-Force battery unit, powerful ZF engine and the Cypher III+ operating system that promises to deliver the best riding experience for an electric adventure motorcycle.

According to Zero Motorcycles, the introduction of the DSR/X is to fulfil the customers request of making an electric adventure bike.

“We have invested over 100,000 hours of design to make a model that lived up to our customers’ expectations, while delivering an incredible driving experience, a true mission from Zero Motorcycles,” said Abe Askenazi, Chief Technology Officer, Zero Motorcycles.

Despite its American origin, the DSR/X is injected with European motorcycle DNA.

“The DSR/X is a motorcycle that has European motorcycle culture in its DNA.

“A dual sport motorcycle that meets the needs of riders in the most important motorcycle segment in Europe,” said Umberto Uccelli, Managing Director, Zero Motorrycles Europe.

Thanks to a revamped Z-Force 75-10X engine the DSR/X makes a 100hp and a whopping 225Nm. In addition, Z-Force 17.3 kWh battery offers a city range of 290km and a highway range of 137km.

Meanwhile, DSR/X is built around a completely new perimeter trellis frame that allows for a greater ground clearance, 200mm to be exact. Also, the frame is suspended by an hand-adjustable front fork.

Zero Motorcycles also equipped the DSR/X with new Gates carbon belt drive, specially designed to withstand the massive torque.

In addition, the Zero DSR/X is also the first electric motorcycle to feature state-of-the-art Bosch Motorcycle Stability Control (BMSC) that allows for better stability during cornering and off-road condition.

While in off-road mode, users can disengage the ABS function and the BMSC will autonomously managed the rear grip.

The electronic package also includes Bosch Linked Braking and Bosch Vehicle hold.

Other notable features include:

The Zero DSR/X comes in two colour option, Sage Green and Pearl White and is available at a price of EUR27,220 (RM123k).

CONFIRMED: Zero Motorcycles To Electrify EICMA 2021

Electric motorcycle manufacturer, Zero Motorcycles has confirmed its plan to attend the EICMA 2021.

The American motorcycle company will bring the entire 2022 range, including the recently unveiled FXE.

However, the California firm also revealed that it has a few surprises ready for the event.

Zero Motorcycles will join Royal Enfield, Fantic, Motori Minarelli, Kymco, Yamaha, MV Agusta, Suzuki, Honda, SYM, Aprilia, Moto Guzzi, Vespa, and Piaggio, who has confirmed their participation for this year event.

EICMA will kick-off from November 25 to 28 at the Fiera Milano in Rho, Italy.

Zero Unveil The 2021 FXE Electric Motorcycle – RM49k

Electric motorcycle manufacturer, Zero Motorcycles, presents the new 2021 FXE.

Based on the Zero FX and FXS, the 2021 FXE offers an entirely new look thanks to its redesigned bodywork.

The Zero FXE sports the same 46hp (34kW) electric motor available on the FX model that offer a 160km city range, making it a suitable motorcycle for every urban commuter.

Clad in a dirtbike-ish look and new electronic package, the FXE takes the FXS range into a new future.

According to Zero’s CEO, Sam Pachel, the company has an obligation to drive the brand forward.

“Being the brand that defined the category means that Zero has an obligation to continue driving innovation in electric Powersports forward.

“Our leadership position also comes with the responsibility to elevate the form and function of the modern motorcycle and ignite riders’ passions in a whole new way.

“The FXE delivers on the design, technology and rides experience characteristics one expects from the motorcycle of the future,” he explained.

Thanks to a lightweight frame, the bike weighs barely 113kg, making it a suitable vehicle for riders seeking a clean and low-maintenance electric motorcycle.

Other significant upgrades on the FXE includes a 5″ TFT display replacing the digital LCD found on the FX range and Zero’s new operating system called the Cypher II, which now supports Bluetooth connectivity.

The connectivity allows riders to adjust the ride parameters, including power, torque and top speed, with a smartphone.

The motorcycle can also reach a top speed of 136km/h, however, keep in mind that the 160km range drops considerably at high speeds.

The all-new 2021 Zero FXE is available now in the United States for a price of USD11,795 (RM49k).

Zero SR/F Streetfighter to Contest at Pikes Peak

The Zero SR/F streetfighter is set to compete in the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb this year.
The bike was launched in January.
Its motor produces 110 bhp and 189.8 Nm of torque.

The just-launched Zero SR/F streetfighter will be raced up Pikes Peak in June this year.

The 156-corner, 20-km Pikes Peak International Hill Climb (PPIHC) may not ring a bell with many motorcycle enthusiasts in Malaysia, but it is an important event where street bikes are pitted against the mountain and the clock.

Many well-known motorcycle models have tackled the course and earned the prestigious win including the electric Lightning LS-218, Ducati Multistrada, KTM 1290 Super Duke R. Ducati even went ahead to build the limited-edition Multistrada Pikes Peak.

However, sportbikes aren’t allowed on the course due to safety reasons after a number of riders were killed. So, the PPIHC sees close competition among sport-tourers and naked sportbikes.

Consequently, Zero Engineering feels that the event is the best place to show off the capabilities of the SR/F. American rider Cory West will ride the bike.

The Zero SR/F was launched earlier this year in Amsterdam. Although it looks like the mix between a Ducati and Benelli, it’s anything but, according to the company.

Specs include a motor which produces 110 hp and 189.8 Nm of torque. Torque is the most important aspect up Pikes Peak due to the snaking course, sharp corners and hairpins.

Besides that, owners can charge the battery to 95% in one hour and it weighs 226kg.
