– Autosport

Valentino Rossi’s new VR46 MotoGP team is set to race in the premier class with Ducati as both sides have penned a 3-year deal.

Despite not naming its official riders for the 2022 season, Luca Marini is sure to stay, as Saudi Aramco owner HRH Prince Abdulaziz bin Abdullah Al-Saud confirmed.

VR46 has also confirmed a five-year deal with Dorna Sports to race in the premier class.

Aramco Racing Team VR46 will be an Independent Team riding on two Desmosedici machines for the next three years.

SKY Racing Team VR46 also announced the current Moto2 and Moto3 team manager, Pablo Nieto, as the MotoGP setup team manager next season.

Meanwhile, Luigi Dall’Igna, Ducati Corse General Manager, is pleased with the partnership.

“We are very pleased to have reached this agreement with VR46 for the next three years. Their Academy has always worked seriously and with great professionalism, giving many riders the opportunity to gain experience in Moto2 and Moto3, and today they can be proud to have brought three young riders of great talent.

“VR46 has also shown that it is able to competently manage the a successful team in Moto3 and Moto2 and therefore we will strive to provide the maximum technical support to their new team in MotoGP, convinced they have found in VR46 an ambitious and motivated partner like us, with a common goal to achieve great results together,” he said.

While every team is busy preparing for this weekend race at the Liqui Moly Motorrad Grand Prix Deutschland, there’s plenty of activity happening behind the curtain.

Ducati Corse Sporting Director Paolo Ciabatti revealed that they are “very close” to announcing a partnership with the VR46 Racing Team.

“Honestly, yes, I think we are very close to reaching an agreement, to be honest; I think probably before Assen, you can expect some kind of announcement.

“I hope everything goes right in the last few days and we can make it public,” said Ciabatti.

If the deal went through, Ducati would field eight Desmosedici on the grid consist of the factory team, Pramac Racing, Gresini Racing and VR46.

Meanwhile, Gresini Racing has signed a two-year agreement with Ducati to compete in the 2022 MotoGP season, with Enea Bastianini leading the team alongside rookie Fabio Di Giannantonio.

In another news, Razlan Razali denies earlier reports suggesting Petronas Sepang Racing Team (SRT) decided not to renew Valentino Rossi’s contract beyond the 2021 season.

According to the local publication, SRT made a unanimous decision not to extend the 42-year old contract as the team can’t afford to wait on the rider decision regarding his future.

However, Razlan’s insist that his side is yet to determined the riders line-up for next season.

Razlan Razali, team principal of Petronas Sepang Racing Team (SRT), has decided not to extend Valentino Rossi’s contract beyond the 2021 season.

Razlan made the decision considering the uncertainty behind Rossi’s commitment as the rider is yet to confirm his future at the team.

According to Razlan, the decision was made unanimously.

“We (SRT) can’t afford to wait for Rossi’s decision whether he wants to continue racing beyond 2021.

“After a thorough discussion with the team, we unanimously agreed not to extend Rossi’s contract for the 2022 season,” said Razlan.

The latest decision by Razlan’s allow the team to go back to their initial plan of recruiting new and exciting talents.

Despite racing with full factory support, the 42-year old rider struggled with his form this season as he currently sits 19th place in the championship, 100 points behind the championship leader, Fabio Quartararo.

*Jack Miller #43

Ketika ini, Ducati mempunyai enam pelumba menerusi Jack Miller (Ducati), Francesco Bagnaia (Ducati), Johann Zarco (Pramac), Jorge Martin (Pramac), Luca Marini (Avintia) dan Enea Bastianini (Avintia).

*Francesco Bagnaia #63

– GPOne

Valentino Rossi will decide whether to continue racing beyond the 2021 MotoGP amid his worst start to a season.

The Italian made the switch from factory Yamaha to Petronas Sepang Racing Team (PSRT) at the end of last season that sees Fabio Quartararo heading the other way.

Despite getting the factory treatment with the M1, the seven-time MotoGP champion is yet to finish a race within the top ten after five rounds. Meanwhile, his partner, Franco Morbidelli, managed to secure a podium finish in Jerez onboard the old A-spec M1.

Nevertheless, Rossi revealed that he would decide on his future during the summer break.

“Speaking with Petronas and Yamaha it’s more half-season, because after nine races we have the summer break and I think I will decide for next year in that period, after nine races,” said Rossi.

Rossi currently sits at 19th place in the championship standings with 9 points together with Miguel Oliveira and his half brother, Luca Marini.

Valentino Rossi will have the chance to hang up his racing suit next season to take up the role of team principal for ARAMCO Racing Team VR46.

Rossi’s VR46 is confirmed to race in the 2022 MotoGP season after signing a 5-year agreement with Tanal Entertainment Sport & Media, the company of HRH Prince Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah Al-Saud.

Saudi Aramco was also announced as the team main sponsor starting from 2022 to 2026.

“It is a circle that closes. We started about ten years ago helping my brother, Migno, Morbidelli, who raced in CIV and arriving in MotoGP is a great satisfaction, a good thing for us and we have also done it for MotoGP and motorsport in general,” said Rossi.

Nevertheless, the 42-year-old rider plays down the possibility of him racing for his team.

“If I still want to race, I could keep a bike for myself, as I am the boss.

“In truth, this team doesn’t change much with my decision whether to continue or not because, as I’ve always said, it will depend on the results and my priority remains with Petronas.

“So at the moment, I would say that it is very difficult for me to race for my own team, but it is not 100 per cent certain, things can change from one day to the next.

“It’s difficult but not impossible,” he added.

Despite the confirmation to race in the premier class next season, one major aspect is still unclear, which bike will the VR46 jump on in 2022.

“We have talked to everyone, Aprilia, Ducati, Yamaha dan Suzuki but I don’t think the decision has been made,” he said.

VR46 has secured a place in the premier class after agreeing a full MotoGP entry starting 2022.

Valentino Rossi’s team will compete in the 2022 MotoGP with Tanal Entertainment Sport & Media and Saudi Aramco as the main sponsor for the period 2022-2026.

Tanal Entertainment Sport & Media is the holding company of HRH Prince Abdulaziz Bin Abdullah Al-Saud.

“In 2022 the VR46 Team will debut in the MotoGP class together with Tanal Entertainment Sport & Media with Saudi Aramco as the new Main Sponsor for the period 2022-2026.

“VR46 will debut as ARAMCO Racing Team VR46 with the support of other important sponsors of the world scene.

“Saudi Aramco, a company already heavily involved in Motorsport and F1, will therefore enter the 2022 MotoGP World Championship with VR46 Team,” said Tanal Entertainment Sport & Media in an official statement.

According to the official statement, the collaboration between VR46 and Tanal Entertainment Sport & Media will also extend beyond the race track.

“Tanal Entertainment Sport & Media and VR46 Team that aim to communicate important projects, developed following the previous sponsorship agreement for the 2021 sports season, with their partners.

“Shared strategies and vision, a summary of a mutual sharing of objectives, led to the extension of this partnership by signing this important five-year agreement: an extended joint-venture between Tanal Entertainment Sport & Media and VR46 Team which also presents the activation and management of communication.”

Despite no confirmation regarding which bike will the team race with next season, the bike used to show the team graphics was a Yamaha M1.
