History was made today when Malaysia became the first South East Asian country to launch the much awaited Ducati 899 Panigale. The baby Panigale is priced at RM108,888 and is powered by a Superquadro, L-twin cylinder, 4 valve per cylinder, Desmodromic, liquid cooled engine. It produces 148hp at 10,750rpm and 99Nm of torque at 9,000rpm.

The all-new Ducati 899 Panigale will be officially launched in Malaysia tomorrow (October 12). Before that though, a group of European and American journalists were given the opportunity to ride the beast around Imola, Italy. Watch how easy it is to maneuver the bike through the tight circuit in the rain, and listen to that glorious engine. It was coming and we all knew it, we just didn’t know when. We’re talking about the new baby Panigale, the 899, and now we know that it is coming soon.

See that picture at the top? Can you tell what’s different? The single-sided swing-arm is gone, and in place of that is the double-sided Swingarm of course.

The Panigale, being Ducati’s flagship, features the company’s trademark single-sided swingarm, but almost all of Ducati’s entry-level models feature the double-sided swingarm instead. (more…)
