MotoGP 2024

Jorge Martin ialah Juara MotoGP 2024, selepas menduduki tempat ketiga dalam perlumbaan terakhir musim ini, Grand Prix Solidariti Barcelona. Saingan gelaran terdekatnya Francesco Bagnaia memenangi perlumbaan itu.

Pelumba Sepanyol itu menjadi juara dunia pasukan bebas pertama dalam era MotoGP bersama Pramac Ducati. Dia telah menunujukkan corak tunggangan yang lebih matang dan konsisten tahun ini dan memenangi 7 perlumbaan Sprint dan 3 perlumbaan utama, manakala tersingkir 2 kali daripada perlumbaan Sprint dan dua kali di dalam perlumbaan utama. Sebagai perbandingan, Bagnaia telah memenangi 5 perlumbaan Sprint dan 11 perlumbaan utama, tetapi tersingkir 4 kali ketika perlumbaan Sprint dan 3 kali ketika perlumbaan utama.

Martin hadir pada perlumbaan utama yang terakhir dengan kelebihan 19 mata selepas Bagnaia memenangi perlumbaan Sprint pada hari Sabtu, manakala Martin menduduki tempat ketiga. Kelebihan itu bermakna Martin memerlukan hanaya sekurang-kurangnya 7 mata daripada tempat ke-9 untuk memastikan kejuaraan miliknya.

Ia adalah kejuaraan dunia pertama Martin di peringkat kelas perdana dan berlumba untuk kali terakhirnya untuk kedua-dua Ducati dan Pramac. Martin akan menyertai pasukan pengilang Aprilia, manakala Pramac akan menjadi pasukan satelit Yamaha menjelang 2025.

Bagnaia telah mendahului Martin ke selekoh pertama pada permulaan perlumbaan, tetapi Martin dipintas oleh pelumba Gresini Ducati Marc Marquez setibanya di selekoh pertama pada Lap ke-2. Marquez kemudiannya menunggang dekat kepada Bagnaia tetapi tidak pernah mengasak untuk mendahului perlumbaan. Marquez dan Bagnaia akan menjadi rakan sepasukan dalam pasukan pengilang Ducati pada tahun depan.

Di belakang Martin, rakan sepasukan Bagnaia, Enea Bastianini kelihatan mengancam tetapi dipintas oleh pelumba pasukan pengilang Aprilia, Aleix Espargaro (pada perlumbaan MotoGP terakhir baginya). Namun Bastianini melakukan kesilapan kemudian dan menjatuhkannya ke tangga yang lebih bawah, dan ini memberikan ruang kepada Martin untuk berlumba tanpa diganggu, serta untuk Espargaro melindungi Martin ketika berasak dengan pelumba lain yang cuba memintasnya.

Jadi, kelompok tiga teratas mengekalkan kedudukan dan Martin menyesuaikan diri dengan rentaknya sehingga ke akhir perlumbaan justeru memenangi kejuaraan pelumba dengan kelebihan 10 mata ke atas Bagnaia.

Marquez yang menghabiskan perlumbaan di tempat kedua mengunci tempat ketiga keseluruhan dalam kejuaraan pada musim pertamanya dengan Ducati. Espargaro pula diasak dengan agresif oleh pelumba Gresini yang lain, Alex Marquez pada peringkat penutup dan terpaksa akur dan menamatkan perlumbaan di tempat kelima.

Dengan Bastianini mendapat tempat keempat keseluruhannya dalam kejuaraan, pertarungan untuk tempat kelima keseluruhan beralih kepada rookie Pedro Acosta daripada pasukan GasGas dan pelumba pengilang KTM, Brad Binder. Binder menduduki tempat keenam selepas bermula dari tempat ke-18, manakala Acosta merosot dari tempat ke-5 kepada tempat ke-10 dalam perlumbaan akibat tayar belakang yang haus. Acosta akan menjadi rakan sepasukan KTM dengan Binder pada musim depan.

Jorge Martin is the MotoGP 2024 Champion, after finishing third in the final race of the season – the Solidarity Grand Prix of Barcelona. Title rival Francesco Bagnaia won the race.

The Spaniard becomes the first independent team world champion in the MotoGP era with Pramac, having won seven sprints and three grands prix in a consistent 2024 campaign. It is Martin’s first world championship at the premier class level and comes in his final race for both Ducati and Pramac, ahead of a factory Aprilia switch in 2025. Pramac is also switching to Yamaha next season.

Martin came into the race with a 19-point lead after Bagnaia won the Sprint on Saturday, with Martin finishing third. The advantage meant that Martin had needed a minimum of 7 points from a 9th place finish to secure the championship.

Bagnaia had led Martin into the first turn at the start, but the latter was overtaken by Gresini Ducati rider Marc Marquez into the first turn on Lap 2. Marquez went ahead to ride close to Bagnaia but never challenged for the lead.

Behind Martin, Bagnaia’s factory Ducati teammate Enea Bastianini was looking threatening but was passed by the factory Aprilia rider Aleix Espargaro who was on his last MotoGP race. A mistake later by Bastianini dropped him down the order, and it looked like Espargaro was protecting Martin’s third placing.

So, the top three held station as Martin settled into his rhythm and rode unchallenged to the chequered flag to win the championship by 10 points over Bagnaia. Second place finisher Marquez locked out third place in the championship in his first season on a Ducati. Espargaro was pushed hard by the other Gresini rider, Alex Marquez in the closing stages and ceded his position in the very last lap.

With Bastianini already securing fourth in the championship, the battle was for fifth overall between rookie Pedro Acosta on the GasGas and KTM factory rider Brad Binder. Binder finished sixth after clawing through the field from 18th, while Acosta slumped from 5th to 10th in the race. Acosta will join Binder as  his teammate next season.

‘On’ tak ‘on’. Malah mungkin menyebabkan GP India dipindahkan ke tarikh yang berbeza. Itulah saga MotoGP Kazakhstan 2024. Ia kini telah dibatalkan sepenuhnya dan akan digantikan dengan pusingan kedua di Misano.

Kazakhstan telah dijadualkan pada 2023 tetapi Litar Antarabangsa Sokol dianggap belum siap. Itu menyebabkan pusingan tersebut ditunda ke tahun ini. Tetapi itu bukan penamat, kerana MotoGP mengeluarkan kenyataan yang mengatakan bahawa pusingan Kazakhstan telah dibatalkan sama sekali kerana isu logistik yang “telah menjadikan acara itu mustahil untuk dijalankan.”

“FIM, IRTA dan Dorna Sports mengumumkan pembatalan Grand Prix Kazakhstan,” kata kenyataan itu. “Isu operasi dan logistik yang timbul daripada banjir awal di seluruh wilayah menyebabkan acara itu mustahil untuk diadakan pada 2024.

“Litar Dunia Misano Marco Simoncelli sebaliknya akan menganjurkan Grand Prix Emilia-Romagna dari 20 hingga 22 September.

“MotoGP teruja untuk mengadakan acara kedua di tempat ikonik Adriatik, memberikan peminat Itali yang bersemangat peluang selanjutnya untuk melihat sukan paling menarik di dunia beraksi.”

Semakan itu mewujudkan situasi janggal kerana Kejohanan Superbike Dunia juga akan berlangsung pada hujung minggu yang sama, walaupun di trek Itali lain, Litar Cremona. Pusingan pertama MotoGP Misano akan diadakan dari 6-8 September. Jadi, Itali akan menjadi hos kepada 3 pusingan perlumbaan motosikal dalam masa dua minggu.

On-off, on-off. Even probably causing the Indian GP to be moved to an entirely different date. That is the saga with the proposed Kazakhstan MotoGP 2024. It has now been completely cancelled and will be replaced by a second outing at Misano.

Kazakhstan had been slated for 2023 but the Sokol International Circuit was deemed not ready. That pushed the round to this year. Unfortunately, an unprecedented flood hit the Central Asian region in May which forced the round slated to begin from 16 June to be cancelled indefinitely.

Then the Indian GP’s organisers threw another curve ball which put it on hold, too. Consequently, Dorna decided to replace the Indian GP scheduled to begin from 2oth September with the Kazakhstan GP. The Indian GP, on the other hand, was moved to March next year.

But that is not the end, as MotoGP issued a statement saying that the Kazakhstan round has been cancelled altogether owing to logistical issues that “have rendered the event impossible to run” after the flooding.

“The FIM, IRTA and Dorna Sports announce the cancellation of the Grand Prix of Kazakhstan,” the statement reads. “Operational and logistical issues arising from the earlier flooding across the region have rendered the event impossible to hold in 2024.

“Misano World Circuit Marco Simoncelli will instead host the Emilia-Romagna Grand Prix from the 20th to the 22nd of September.

“MotoGP is excited to stage a second event at the iconic Adriatic venue, giving the passionate Italian fanbase a further opportunity to see the world’s most exciting sport in action.”

The revision creates an awkward situation as the World Superbike Championship will also run during the same weekend, albeit on another Italian track, the Cremona Circuit. The first Misano MotoGP round will be held from 6-8 September. So, Italy sees 3 rounds of motorcycle racing in two weeks.

The previously postponed Kazakhstan MotoGP round will replace the Indian MotoGP, from 20 – 22 September 2024.

The rights holder of MotoGP, Dorna Sport and FIM decided to postpone the Kazakhstan round at the Sokol International Circuit due to massive flooding in the country. On the other hand, the Indian round will take place in March next year. This in turn pushes Qatar Grand Prix as the season opener to a later date.

This is another twist for the Indian MotoGP, after the CEO of Fairstreet Sports, Pushkar Nath Srivastava, “confirmed” the event was still going ahead. Speaking on 15 May to The Times of India he said “The race is very much on […] These are just rumours floating around. All of the contractual obligations will be met in June.”

However, it was also known that Dorna had given the promoter up until 20 May to settle the matter.

Now, Srivastava told the Indian news agency, PTI “It was mutually decided to shift the race to March next year. We are looking at the first or second week of March … All the stakeholders including Dorna agreed that the September weather is not conducive for the race and it is tough on the riders and marshals as experienced last year.”

Pusingan MotoGP India 2024 mungkin akan digugurkan.

Penunggang juga menimbulkan kebimbangan bahawa susun atur trek yang beralun tidak mempunyai kawasan kecemasan (run-off) yang tidak mencukupi.

Selain daripada itu, kelulusan visa bagi beberapa pelumba dan kakitangan pasukan turut tertangguh menyebabkan beberapa pelumba terpaksa membatalkan acara promosi sebelum perlumbaan.

India pada masa ini merupakan pasaran motosikal terbesar di dunia justeru merupakan perhentian yang penting bagi pengeluar motosikal dan MotoGP.

The Indian MotoGP 2024 round may be dropped.

Autosport revealed that the local promoter, Fairview Sports has not made payments to the “local vendors and MotoGP rights holder Dorna Sport.” However, Fairview is given time until 20 May to sort out the matter.

The Indian MotoGP 2024 was set to return the second time from 19 to 22 September. Its cancellation could very well mean Kazakhstan taking over the slot. The Kazakh round was to begin on 16 June but was postponed due to massive floods.

The 2024 MotoGP calendar will see a reduction back to 20 rounds should the Indian MotoGP gets cancelled. The Argentinian round was cancelled before the start of the season, bringing the total down to 21.

Last year’s inaugural GP in the country also saw difficulties as the Buddh circuit was only ready and certified at the last moments, but remained dirty when MotoGP arrived. Riders also raised concerns that the track’s undulating and flowing layout had inadequate run-off areas.

Speaking of arrival, several riders’ and team personnel’s Visa approvals were also delayed causing the riders to miss out on several promotional events.

India is currently the world’s largest motorcycle market hence is an important stop for the manufacturers and MotoGP.

 

MotoGP Kazakhstan akan ditangguhkan akibat banjir besar di negara itu.

Sistem cuaca yang tidak dijangka telah menyebabkan banjir yang tidak pernah berlaku sebelum ini di seluruh Asia Tengah, manakala banjir kilat melanda di banyak bahagian negara Kazakhstan. Laporan menyatakan bahawa kira-kira 119,000 orang telah dipindahkan dari kawasan yang terjejas. Tujuh jiwa telah hilang akibat bencana itu.

Oleh itu, FIM, IRTA, dan Dorna Sports merasakan bahawa adalah tidak bertanggungjawab dan tidak sensitif untuk meneruskan pusingan MotoGP yang dijadualkan pada 16 Jun 2024. “Sebagai keutamaan kami, MotoGP menyampaikan ucapan takziah dan sokongan kami kepada rakyat Kazakhstan dan semua yang terjejas akibat banjir di Asia Tengah Kami berharap negara, rantau dan komuniti yang terjejas dapat pulih secepat mungkin.”

Organisasi itu belum mendedahkan trek gantian, mahupun bila mereka akan kembali ke MotoGP Kazakhstan.

MotoGP Kazakhstan sepatutnya menjadi pusingan sulung di Litar Lumba Antarabangsa Sokol. Litar sepanjang 4.495km itu direka oleh jurutera dan pereka litar, Hermann Tilke, yang juga telah mereka bentuk banyak litar baharu di seluruh dunia, termasuklah Litar Antarabangsa Sepang. Sokol telah menganjurkan banyak acara perlumbaan antarabangsa dan menjadualkan banyak acara untuk tahun ini.

The Kazakhstan MotoGP has been postponed due to heavy flooding in the country.

A freak weather system had caused unprecedented flooding across Central Asia, while Kazakhstan was particularly heavily affected by flash flood in many parts of the country. Reports state that some 119,000 people were evacuated from the affected areas. Seven souls were lost due to the disaster.

As such, the FIM, IRTA, and Dorna Sports felt that it would be irresponsible and insensitive to carry on with the MotoGP round slated for 16 June 2024. “As our utmost priority, MotoGP sends our condolences and support to the people of Kazakhstan and all those affected by the flooding in Central Asia. We hope the nation, region and communities affected can recover as soon as possible.”

The organisations have not revealed the substitute track, nor when they will return to the Kazakhstan MotoGP.

It was due to be the Sokol International Racetrack’s debut in the world of MotoGP. The 4.495km circuit was designed by the same engineer and circuit designer, Hermann Tilke, who had also designed many new circuits globally, including the Sepang International Circuit. Sokol had hosted many international racing events and has many events for this year.

MotoGP musim 2024 merupakan pencapaian yang baharu. Terdapat 42 perlumbaan dalam 21 pusingan Grand Prix, yang akan berjalan dalam tempoh 9 bulan. Ia adalah musim MotoGP terpanjang dalam sejarah.

Jumlah perlumbaan yang tinggi ini termasuk perlumbaan Sprint ketika setiap pusingan yang membuat penampilan sulungnya pada 2023. Sepatutnya terdapat 44 perlumbaan tahun ini namum pengelola Grand Prix Argentina telah menarik diri.

Musim ini juga menandakan penyertaan Grand Prix Kazakhstan, yang akan diadakan di Litar Antarabangsa Sokol yang baharu. GP ini dijadualkan berlangsung dari 14-16 Jun.

MotoGP musim 2024 akan bermula dengan GP Qatar di Litar Antarabangsa Lusail seperti tradisi sebelum ini. GP Qatar ditukar kepada akhir musim pada tahun lepas. Ia bermulapada  minggu depan dari 8-10 Mac.

Grand Prix of the Americas kini akan menjadi GP yang sulung di antara kedua-dua benua Amerika selepas pemain Argentina itu menarik diri.

Terdapat cuti musim panas tiga minggu seperti biasa selepas GP Jerman pada bulan Julai, sebelum bermula semula di UK pada bulan Ogos.

Pusingan MotoGP Malaysia akan diadakan dari 1-3 November. Musim ini berakhir di GP Valencia di Litar Ricardo Tormo.

Ia akan menjadi menarik untuk melihat bagaimana musim berlalu memandangkan pelumba dan pasukan sudah merungut tentang terlalu banyak perlumbaan tahun lepas. Ramai pelumba juga tidak hadir dalam perlumbaan utama kerana kecederaan yang dialami dalam perlumbaan Sprint.

Daripada segi perebutan juara dunia pula dijangka akan menyaksikan pertembungan tiga penjuru di antara juara bertahan dua kali berturut-turut Francesco (Pecco) Bagnaia, Jorge Martin, dan juara MotoGP 6 kali sebelum ini  Marc Marquez. Ketiga-tiganya menunggang jentera Ducati yang merupakan motosikal yang terbaik di dalam kejuaraan ini.

Martin merupakan pesaing terdekat kepada Bagnaia sepanjang musim 2023 dan gelaran juara hanya boleh ditentukan pada pusingan terakhir. Sementara itu, Marc Marquez berada di dalam keadaan fizikal yang paling cerdas sejak kecederaannya pada 2020, diamping meninggalkan Honda yang sedang mengalami kerumitan.

Selain daripada mereka, rakan sepasukan Bagnaia, Enea Bastianini juga mungkin akan memainkan peranan dalam penentuan juara, jika dia tidak turut berebut takhta itu.

The MotoGP 2024 season will reach a new milestone. There will be 42 races in 21 Grands Prix over a period of 9 months. It is the longest MotoGP season in history.

This high number of races includes Sprint races which made its debut in 2023. It would have been 44 races this year had not for the cancellation of the Argentinian Grand Prix.

The season also marks the entry of the Kazakhstan Grand Prix, to be held at the new Sokol International Circuit. The GP is set to take place from 14-16 June.

The MotoGP 2024 season will kick off with the Qatar GP at the Lusail International Circuit this year, as per tradition. It begins just next week from 8-10 March.

The Grand Prix of the Americas will now be the sold GP in either American continent after the Argentinian pull out.

There is the usual three-week summer break after the German GP in July, before recommencing in the UK in August.

The Malaysian MotoGP round will be held from 1-3 November. The season concludes at the Valencia GP in Circuit Ricardo Tormo.

It will be interesting to see how the season pans out given the riders and teams were already complaining about too much racing last year. Many riders were also absent from the main races due to injuries picked up in the Sprint races.

In terms of the world championship fight, we can expect to witness a three-cornered clash between the two-time defending champion Francesco (Pecco) Bagnaia, Jorge Martin, and the previous 6-time MotoGP champion Marc Marquez. All three ride Ducati machines which are the best bikes in this championship.

Martin is the closest competitor to Bagnaia throughout the 2023 season and the title of champion was only decided in the last round. Meanwhile, Marc Marquez is in his best physical condition since his injury in 2020, besides leaving Honda who is experiencing difficulties.

Apart from them, Bagnaia’s teammate Enea Bastianini may also play a role in deciding the champion, if he is not also fighting for the throne.
