Dorna Sports CEO, Carmelo Ezpeleta, stated that he would be “delighted” if the MotoGP 2020 season can fit 10 rounds into this year’s hectic calendar. Looking at the fact that the first eight races will most likely get postponed (six already confirmed), Ducati has offered a radical solution into how Dorna can save the 2020 season and the championship. The folks from Dorna have announced that the MotoGP opening round set to run its course in Argentina next month has been postponed to November due to growing number of cases of the Coronavirus or COVID-19 in the region as well as travel restrictions set at several other countries. (more…)

The bad news speculating the postponement or cancellation of the first round of MotoGP 2020 in Austin, Texas has just been confirmed by the folks from Dorna. The US round at the Circuit of the Americas will now be held in the middle of November right in between Sepang and Valencia. (more…)

The Coronavirus or COVID-19 is really, REALLY putting a threat on the current season of MotoGP. The opening round saw only the Moto3 and Moto2 teams battling it out while the next round in Thailand has been postponed to possibly at the end of the year and now, it looks like the first premier class won’t even see the light of day in Austin, Texas. Perlumbaan penuh bermakna berlangsung di Litar Losail, Qatar, apabila aksi Moto2 menyaksikan Tetsuta Nagashima merekodkan kemenangan sulung bersama Red Bull KTM Ajo.

Aksi pertama musim ini menyaksikan ketiadaan kelas premier susulan Qatar mengenakan kuarantin 14 hari bagi setiap pengunjung luar susulan penularan wabak Covid-19.

Aksi di Losail sekaligus terarah ke saingan Moto2.

Meskipun bergelut ketika sesi kelayakan namun Nagashima mempamerkan tunggangan mantap sebaik perlumbaab bermula.

Dengan perlumbaab berbaki tiga lap, Nagashima bijak membuat pecutan terakhir untuk meninggalkan pesaing terdekat Lorenzo Baldassari dan Enea Bastianini.

Keputusan ini menandakan podium sulung Nagashima di pentas kejuaraan dunia di samping turut muncul pelumba Jepun pertama untuk merekodkan kemenangan di kelas intermediate sejak (mendiang) Shoya Tomizawa yang melakukannya pada pembukaan musim 2010.

Malah, kejayaan ini merupakan yang pertama ditempah Nagashima bersama pasukan Red Bull KTM Ajo.

Sementara itu, wakil pasukan tempatan, ONEXOX TKKR SAG Team melengkapkan aksi pertama di kedudukan kelima meskipun pelumba, Remy Gardner, beraksi dengan jentera 2019 di samping kehilangan khidmat Ketua Kru yang kini di kem Baldassari.

Dalam perkembangan lain, aksi Moto3 menyaksikan pelumba Aspar Team, Albert Arenas merekodkan kemenangan setelah berjaya mengetepikan cabaran John McPhee dari pasukan PETRONAS Sprinta Racing.

Sementara drama tercetus bagi perebutan tempat ketiga apabila pelumba Leopard Racing, Jaume Masia – yang menamatkan aksi di tempat ketiga – dibatalkan keputusan ketika menuju ke parkir podium tatkala didapati terkeluar daripada had litar.

Tempat ketiga kemudiannya dianugerahkan kepada Ai Ogura daripada pasukan Honda Team Asia.
