Enea Bastianini charts his third win of the season after conquering French GP in Le Mans ahead of Miller, Espargaro and Quartararo.

Enea Bastianini made surprise improvement towards the end of last season as the young Italian managed to collect 71 points during the final six rounds of the 2021 MotoGP season.

After making a switch to Gresini Racing onboard the Ducati GP21, the 24-year-old is among the fastest rider in Day 1 and 2 at the Official MotoGP Sepang Test.

Bastianini clocked second fastest in Day 1 with 1 minute 58.638 seconds, one of only two riders who managed to do under 1m58s alongside Aprilia’s Aleix Espargaro who came out on top.

However, Bastianini further improve his lap time at Day 2 and emerged as the fastest rider of the day with 1m 58.131s ahead of Espargaro’s 1m 58.157s.

According to Bastianini, the Ducati GP21 offers a lot of improvements compared to Avintia’s Ducati GP19, the bike he rode throughout of his rookie season last year.

“I’ts better in every part of the track. You can brake later and also I like a lot the rear because it’s more stable.

“Especially when I have the new tyre on the rear I can open throttle aggressively compared to the GP19,” he said.

After making a great impression towards the end of the last season, the rider is expected to make a significant leap for 2022.

Gresini Racing has announced YOUALL as one of the team latest sponsors for its new 2022 Ducati MotoGP project.

The Chinese carburettor and a fuel injection manufacturer is no stranger to Gresini as they have been working together in Moto3.

“We have been enjoying a partnership with YOUALL in our Moto3 venture for four years already, and when the move to the premier-class became available, they were amongst the first ones to pick it up,” said Carlo Merlini, Commercial and Marketing Director of Gresini Racing.

Meanwhile, Edison Li, Fujian CEO Youli Carburettor Co. Lts shared his excitement over the collaboration.

“The collaboration between YOUALL and Gresini Racing enters its fifth year and, for the 2022 season, we wanted to take a further step forward with the leap into the premier class.

“I am very excited for this new project and we are very confident both in our drivers and with the team! As part of the Gresini Family we are ready for this new challenge,” he added.

Gresini Racing also previously announced Flex-Box as the title sponsor for the 2022 season.

Flex-Box Gresini MotoGP team marks the start of something fresh after spending the last seven seasons with Aprilia.

The team set to compete in next season MotoGP campaign with Enea Bastianini and Fabio di Giannantonio onboard the GP21 Desmosedici.

Gresini Racing will return to 2022 MotoGP as an Independent MotoGP Team with Ducati as the manufacturer of choice.

Team Gresini also confirmed the full Italian line-up for next season with Fabio Di Giannantonio (Federal Oil Gresini Moto2) and Enea Bastianini (Avintia Esponsorama) as the main rider.

The agreement will see Team Gresini will compete in the 2022 and 2023 MotoGP season with a Desmosedici machine.

According to Gigi Dall’Igna, Ducati Corse General Manager, the possible agreement was met at the end of last year with (now deceased) Fausto Gresini.

“We’re incredibly happy to have reached this agreement with Gresini Racing for the next two MotoGP seasons. We had laid down the foundations of a possible agreement with Fausto already at the end of last year and we would like to thank – from the bottom of our hearts – his family for carrying this project forward with us.

“Gresini Racing has been an especially important institution in MotoGP for many years and we are confident this partnership, which can count on two very talented riders such as Enea and Fabio, will be of great satisfaction for all parties involved,” he said.

Meanwhile, Nadia Padovani, Team Principal and of owner of Gresini Racing, expressed her gratitude towards Ducati.

“It’s a very emotional moment for each of us. In previous months, our efforts merged with a strong emotional push to shape the future of Gresini Racing, and now are immensely proud and happy to make the official announcement. It is a project born out of continuity and based on values upon which Fausto built this amazing institution.

“My thank you goes first and foremost to Carmelo Ezpeleta for making sure we never felt alone during these months, to Ducati for trusting our projects, to Flex-Box who joined us in this new challenge as title sponsor and obviously to Fabio and Enea: I’m sure they will give their best to wave the Gresini Racing banner high.”

Ducati wants to keep its six MotoGP machines beyond 2021 despite Avintia decision to quit MotoGP at the end of this season.

The Italian marquee is the only factory team currently supplying GP machines to two satellite teams in the premier class.

Pramac received full factory support with Johann Zarco and Jorge Martin riding on the factory-spec GP21 identical to Jack Miller and Francesco Bagnaia.

Meanwhile, Ducati supplied an older machine to Avintia, but the two riders, Luca Marini and Enea Bastianini, are contracted directly to Ducati.

Speaking to the press, Ducati Corse Sports Director, Paolo Ciabatti, revealed the team wants to keep the six bikes in 2022.

“In our case, the idea is to continue in the coming years with six bikes, i.e. with a second independent team.

“It is a system that we are very comfortable with. It is also a way of being able to keep some riders who we believe have earned the right to be in MotoGP,” he said.

The ongoing 2021 season will be the last for Avintia as the team decided to quit MotoGP at the end of last season.

Avintia slots are expected to go to Valentino Rossi owned VR46 team, which leave Ducati with Gresini Racing.

According to reports, Ducati has contacted Gresini Racing about a potential tie-up with the latter no longer attached with Aprilia next season.

However, Ducati-Gresini potential tie-up will also bank on Suzuki and Aprilia effort not to pursue their own satellite operations next season.

Gresini Racing will start competing in the MotoGP 2022 season as an independent team after signing a five-year agreement with IRTA (International Road-Racing Teams Association).
