Suzuki Released New Burgman Street 125EX Scooter At Intermot

Suzuki Burgman Street 125EX is the third scooter to join its new 125cc range after introducing Address and Avenis 125 in July.

Like its bigger sibling, the Burgman 400, the smaller Burgman Street 125EX is positioned as the firm’s flagship 125 range.

Like the Address and Avenis 125, the Burgman Street 125EX also features Suzuki Eco Performance (SEP) engine.

Although the Burgman shares a similar base architecture as the Address and Avenis, the former is equipped with Suzuki’s latest SEP motor.

As a result, the Burgman makes 8.48hp @ 6,500rpm and 10Nm @ 5,500rpm.

According to Suzuki, the new ‘alpha’ version of the SEP engine also boasts high fuel economy levels and operates at a quieter level.

Other new features available from the new engine include Engine Auto Stop-Start, a new idle system and a new Silent Start System.

Other notable features include:

two helmet hooks
21 L under-seat storage
two closable front compartments
USB port

The Burgman Street 125EX also offers additional stability thanks to a longer wheelbase than the Address and Avenis 125.

Meanwhile, braking is done via 130mm drum brakes and regulated by a combined braking system (CBS).

The 2023 Burgman Street 125EX scooter will only be available next year.

Pre-Orders For Damon HyperSport Hits RM417 Million

High-performance electric motorcycles manufacturer Damon Sports has announced it has hit USD90 million in pre-orders for the Damon HyperSport and Damon HyperFighter motorcycles.

Pre-orders for the HyperSport and HyperFighter have raked up more than USD90 million (RM417 million).

Unveiled in January 2020, the Damon HyperSport is a sportsbike capable of producing 200hp and hitting a claimed max speed of 320km/h.

Damon also claimed that the HyperSport could hit a max range of more than 300km/h on a single charge thanks to its ‘HyperDrive’ electric power unit.

Also joining the HyperSport is the naked HyperFighter motorcycle, introduced a year later.

Currently, Damon Motors has received more than 3,500 orders which inadvertently created a massive buzz around the brand.

“You can’t be the future of anything if you’re not better than the past.

“It was necessary for us to target performance metrics as good or better than anything achieved before, otherwise people aren’t going to go electric in any meaningful numbers.

“This is the fundamental Achilles’ heel in the two-wheel EV industry so far.

“Nobody will trade in for an electric motorbike if it’s not as good as what they already have—people want to trade up,” said Co-Founder and CEO Damon Motor, Jay Giraud.

Apart from the impressive power unit, the Damon HyperSport and HyperFighter also feature top-notch safety features, including a 360-degree radar tech that helps to identify and predict hazards.

“By coupling high-volume production with our 5G connected, sensor-enabled, self-learning compute system, we can make it so that every mile ridden on a Damon motorcycle makes all other Damon motorcycles smarter and safer with over-the-air updates.

“We can cause the accident rates to perpetually fall over the coming decade. This is our 2030 goal,” added Giraud.

Indonesia Aims For 2 Million Electric Motorcycles On The Road By 2025

Indonesia is a country of two-wheelers with more than 130 million registered motorcycle owners.

The growing number of motorcycles in the country has prompted the Indonesian government to focus on the two-wheeled sector as the pivotal starting point for reducing the country’s emissions.

Indonesian Transport Minister Budy Karya Sumadi showered his support for the initiative during the Federal Group Discussion in Jakarta on Tuesday.

“There are around 133 million users of motorcycles in Indonesia. There are now 5 million requests a year. There were even 10 million requests before the pandemic.

“So, the market is huge, and this can be a game changer that can accelerate this transition,” he said.

Meanwhile, Presidential Special Staff Diaz Hendropriyono hopes that due to the large number of electric motorcycle companies in the country, Indonesia could reach the target of 2 million electric bikes by 2025.

“There are 35 electric motorcycle companies compared to three car companies.

“The price is also more competitive.

“This means that we can encourage the adoption of electric motorbikes to meet the President’s target of 2 million electric motorbikes by 2025,” he said.

Kawasaki Electric Prototype Makes Surprise Appearance At Intermot 2022

Kawasaki recently showcased a couple of their electric motorcycle prototype during Suzuka 8 Hours.

The electric and hybrid prototype will form the basis of Kawasaki’s upcoming EVs.

That was the first time we laid our eyes on Kawasaki’s electric and hybrid project, with both bearing Team Green’s current two-wheel range.

That said, since both motorcycles were prototypes, no further details were revealed to the public at the time.

However, Kawasaki took the opportunity to allow the public to take a closer look at their prototypes at the Intermot motorcycle show in Cologne, Germany.

While Kawasaki remained tight-lipped on its upcoming project, Kawasaki Motors Europe managing director, Masaya Tsurono, revealed that the prototype “will form the basis of an actual future production machine.”

Despite the push for electrification, Tsurono said that Kawasaki would continue developing cleaner internal combustion motorcycles as well as further research on e-fuel and biofuel.

Can-Am Origin And Pulse Electric Motorcycle To Go Into Production In 2024

Can-Am proudly announced its return to the two-wheel segment during last month’s 2023 Club Bombardier Recreational Product (BRP) event.

At the time, the Canadian-based company showcased its first electric motorcycle, the Origin dual-sport and Pulse roadster.

Unfortunately, while Can-Am revealed that both motorcycles would run on an all-new Rotax E-Power electric motor, the firm remained tight-lipped on the Origin and Pulse power, range and charging time.

Nevertheless, BRP quickly got things running as the company recently broke ground for a new EV-manufacturing plant in Queretaro, Mexico.

According to the firm, the new facility will primarily produce Can-Am’s electric two-wheeler range, including the Pulse and Origin.

“We have set out to reclaim our motorcycle heritage by launching a lineup of electric two-wheel motorcycles, and we are gearing up to execute our plan.

“We look forward to producing the first electric Can-Am motorcycles for a new generation of enthusiasts,” said BRP Powersports Group President Sandy Scullion.

Meanwhile, Can-Am aims to deliver the first batch of electric motorcycles to customers by 2024.

Triumph Speed Triple 1200 RR Bond Edition Announced

Thanks to Triumph’s successful partnership with the James Bond film franchise, the British firm has revealed its latest collaboration in the form of a special edition Speed Triple 1200 RR Bond Edition.

Only 60 units are built to commemorate 60th anniversary of the Bond film franchise.

The Speed Triple 1200 RR is Triumph’s most advanced motorcycle yet, featuring Ohlins electronic suspension, Brembo Stylema brakes and Pirelli Diablo Supercosa tires.

Fundamentally, the Bond Edition motorcycle features limited edition graphics with a blacked-out colour scheme that also showcases details referencing all 25 of the James Bond film franchise.

Look closer, and you’ll find another James Bond detail on the handlebar clamp, including the iconic “007” codename.

According to Triumph Motorcycles, the special edition Speed Triple 1200 RR is all about being ‘stealthy’ hence the colour choice, including the premium custom-made gold logos that can be found across the motorcycle.

Powering the Speed Triple 1200 RR is a 1160cc inline-triple engine capable of producing 177.5 hp and 125Nm of torque.

As a nod to the 60th anniversary of James Bond, only 60 units of the Bond Edition are made with each bike comes with a unique certificate of authenticity signed by Triumph’s CEO, Nick Bloor.
