Modenas sponsors five motorcycles for participants in Ride to Hajj 2016 expedition.
National motorcycle manufacturer Modenas (Motosikal Dan Enjin Nasional Sdn Bhd) held a special handover ceremony earlier today in Glenmarie, Shah Alam where it officially marked its support for the Ride to Hajj 2016 expedition.
Present here were company CEO Amiruddin Abdul Kadir and Dato’ Abdul Harith Abdullah, DRB-Hicom Berhad’s COO of automotive distribution, defence & manufacturing.
Both executives handed over five brand-new Modenas GT128 Harimau Malaya Edition models to the five riders who have chosen to perform their Hajj pilgrimage in the Ride to Hajj 2016 expedition. Also supporting this expedition were leading motorcycle accessories manufacturer GIVI and lubricants brand Castrol.
This holy expedition was the brainchild of 45-year-old retired Malaysian Cub Prix veteran Wazi Abdul Hamid. He is assisted by 50-year-old Haji Azman Baharuddin who is renowned in the local distance riding community for spearheading the Kembara Bumi Suci and Kembara Musafir Umrah 2016 motorcycle expeditions to Mecca.
Fellow riders and pilgrims Meor Azhar Meor Raflan, 43; Othman Darus, 46; as well as Napiah Mohd Noor, 50, joins Wazi and Haji Azman in this holy expedition ride. Each of the five riders hold years of experience in long distance riding that will undoubtedly aid them in their journey as pilgrims to Mecca.
All five riders will ride to Mecca astride the Modenas GT128 Harimau Malaya Edition sponsored by the national motorcycle brand. Modenas CEO Amiruddin stated that the GT128 model was chosen for this ride as it stood as one of the best models produced by the national brand to date.
Besides that, Amiruddin further pointed out the 130cc moped’s key features such as its TPS (Throttle Positioning Sensor) and the low-friction Molybdenum-coated pistons were designed for both fuel efficiency and endurance, making it a suitable bike to take on the daunting challenges that the riders will face.
Ride to Hajj 2016 will be flagged off from Kepala Batas, Pulau Pinang next week on July 29th. Their ride to Mecca will cover approximately 11,500km and will take roughly 45 days to complete.
From Penang, the expedition will ride across Thailand, Myanmar, India, Pakistan, Iran and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) before entering the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia in time for Hajj season. More information about the Ride to Hajj 2016 expedition is available online through its official Facebook page as well.
