Video: KTM 790 Duke protoype hooning about

Watch the KTM 790 Duke prototype tear up the asphalt with its punchy new twin-cylinder heart.

Shown off at EICMA 2016 last month, the KTM 790 Duke prototype marks a huge step forward the orange Austrian brand. Not only will it finally bridge a gap between the 690 Duke and the 1290 Super Duke R, it will also start a new family of parallel-twin engines for KTM.

KTM didn’t reveal many details about the 790 Duke prototype’s new mill, with rumours indicating an 800cc displacement. This video however should silence any and all doubts about this mill’s power and torque figures – it definitely has plenty!

The KTM 790 Duke will arrive as a full-fledged production model in 2018, but we are certain it will not be alone. With this naked will likely get accompanied by an adventure sibling alongside it as well dubbed as the 790 Adventure.

The latter adventure was recently spied testing out in the open, and there are some interesting development here too. Not only will KTM bless it with actual off-road capabilities, the 790 Adventure will also reportedly feature a twin fuel tank setup plus a full-LCD dash display to boot.

Surely, the upcoming new 790 Adventure based off the 790 Duke prototype will be the spiritual successor to the KTM 640 Adventure that was produced from 1997 to 2007. Expect to see the final production versions of both the 790 Duke prototype and its 790 Adventure during EICMA 2017.
