Wilayah International Motofest 2018 thunders down Kuala Lumpur

The Wilayah International Motofest 2018 was held at the Dataran Merdeka, Kuala Lumpur last weekend.

Organised by DBKL and Kepala Kuasa Motorcycle Group (KKMG), thousands of bikers gathered for the two-day event.

It is safe to say that this year’s event is bigger and more awesome than last year’s extravaganza.

The Wilayah International Motofest 2018 (WIM2018) ran its course last weekend in the heart of Kuala Lumpur and as promised, it was a motorcycle gathering of epic proportions. Organised by Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) together with Kepala Kuasa Motorcycle Group (KKMG), thousands of participants from across the country and even neighbouring countries gathered at the historic Dataran Merdeka. WorldSBK: Marco Melandri takes double win in Australia!

The first opening WorldSBK round of 2018 saw Marco Melandri took home a double win for both races in Australia.

Melandri managed to fend off both Kawasaki Racing Team riders in Race 1 and Race 2 for the wins.

Tom Sykes and Chaz Davies completed the podium in Race 1 whereas Jonathan Rea together with Xavi Fores completed Race 2.

Those who say that “old dogs can’t learn new tricks” obviously are not into the world of motorcycle racing as 35-year-old Marco Melandri (Aruba.it Racing – Ducati) won both races in the 2018 WorldSBK opening round at Phillip Island, Australia this past weekend. (more…)

Let’s help Eastern Bobber reach INTERMOT Germany in style!

Eastern Bobber needs your help with funding to bring Malaysia to INTERMOT Germany this year.

Custom bike builder Omar Jumiran and his creation, Bone-X, will compete at the 2018 AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building.

He will be the first Malaysian to do so and he needs all the help (and funding) he can get to reach there in the best possible way.

National custom bike builder Omar Jumiran of Eastern Bobber was recently announced as the first ever Malaysian who will compete at INTERMOT in Germany at the AMD World Championship of Custom Bike Building later this year. (more…)

BMW S 675 RR Concept by Nicolas Petit

This BMW S 675 RR Concept was drawn up by industrial designer Nicolas Petit.
There a very few manufacturers who are still producing sub-600cc bikes.
BMW has not announced if they are venturing into the 600cc supersport segment.

It’s probably an understatement that BMW Motorrad has done it right with the S 1000 RR supersport bike. The model continues to sell well, despite BMW not competing in both MotoGP and WSBK, and the shrinking supersport segment.

That fact is probably attributable to it being a BMW and that it features the latest motorcycle technologies, besides being priced to rival the Japanese superbikes.

However, there’s a huge hole in the 600cc segment, pretty much abandoned by almost every manufacturer except a few. While 1000cc supersport bikes are more appealing due to their higher power outputs and specs, it’s actually more fun to ride a 600cc supersport bike in the real world.

If BMW is interested, who knows if the S 675 RR (or whatever cc) may look like in these conceptual art, produced by freelance industrial designer Nicolas Petit, for Wunderlich.

Petit’s concept bears the familiar lines of the S 1000 RR and is instantly recognizable. But what we like best is its simplicity, eschewing the unnecessary and leaving only those parts that serve their purpose.

Petit had also “stylised” the S 675 R naked bike and S 675 XR sport-tourer concepts.

BMW Motorrad has been caught testing what could be the new S 1000 RR for 2018 or 2019, but will they dip into the 600cc category? The world’s motorcycle market is kind of soft lately and more and more buyers are looking into buying smaller displacement bikes, after all. Besides that, it seems that BMW Motorrad has the habit of outselling their competitors.

One of the bikes has already been sold while the other is patiently waiting for its future owner.

Priced at RM339,900 (basic price with GST), the Final Edition is available at Ducati Malaysia in Petaling Jaya, Selangor.

When it comes down to one of the best Ducati bikes ever made, the 2017 Ducati 1299 Panigale Final Edition sits somewhere on the top of that very list. Four-time MotoGP world champion Marc Marquez is the new Tissot Ambassador.

Marquez was chosen as the latest representative for the Swiss watchmaker for his determination, results and fighting spirit.

The latest official MotoGP watch to represent Marquez is the 2018 Tissot T-Race Marc Marquez.

Repsol Honda’s Marc Marquez which so happens to be a four-time MotoGP world champion has just been selected as the latest Tissot ambassador for the renowned Swiss watchmaker. The 25-year-old Spaniard who has won multiple championships was inducted into the Tissot family for his superb riding skills, amazing agility and crazy determination for nothing but the best. (more…)
