Harley-Davidson is looking into diversifying its current portfolio into the bicycle market with the launch of the Serial 1 – an electric bicycle that’s inspired by the brand’s first-ever motorcycle produced way WAY back in 1903.
As far as vintage bicycles are concerned, the Harley-Davidson Serial 1 is definitely one hell of a gorgeous two-wheeler that combines classic looks with modern green tech. Its slim black frame is simple yet seductive and is further amplified with that brown tan leather seat and spoke rims wrapped with white tyres. Very old school, very cool.
The sub-brand that will be handling this particular line of product for H-D is the Serial 1 Cycle Company and its primary focus is specialising in only e-bicycles which will begin production sometime in 2021. However, the final production model will unlikely look like the Serial 1, which is such a shame if that’s the case on the count of how beautiful it looks.
Features of the Serial 1 include an internal battery pack, conventional bicycle pedals (like a moped), built-in lighting system for both front and rear, leather-wrapped handlebars, and a thin final-drive belt instead of the classic bicycle chain.
The final production models will most likely make its debut before the year ends and they are expected to fetch between USD2,500-USD5,000 per unit. That’s around RM10,400 to RM20,800 in today’s currency exchange rate. Stay tuned for more updates.
