Honda MSX125 reportedly set for introduction in Malaysia at an unknown date.
Our friends from popular Malay language automotive site Mekanika.com.my are reporting that the Honda MSX125 (also known as the Honda Grom) will officially make its way into Malaysia very soon.
This is big news as the bike has got plenty of fans here on our soil. Furthermore, the arrival of the Honda MSX125 in Malaysia will see it go head-to-head against the rivalling Kawasaki Z125 Pro that replaces the Kawasaki KSR Pro model. (Read about the Kawasaki Z125 Pro here)
How soon is ‘soon’ remains unknown for now, but Mekanika states that this comes from a ‘highly credible insider source’. The report comes from the site’s efforts whilst covering the ongoing Bangkok International Motor Show 2016 in Thailand where the Honda MSX125 made its regional public debut.
To refresh your memory, the updated 2016 Honda MSX125 was officially announced earlier this year. It featured a mild facelift with a new LED headlamp and a restyled exhaust amongst other changes. (Read our initial report here)
The tiny yet perky little machine is powered by an air-cooled four-stroke 125cc single-cylinder primed with Honda’s PGM-FI fuel injection suite that develops roughly 9.7hp @ 7,000rpm and peak torque of 10.9Nm @ 5,500rpm. All power is sent to the rear wheel via a four-speed transmission with a wet multi-plate clutch unit and a chain drive.
With a claimed kerb weight of 101.7kg, the compact fun bike looks set to welcome hobbyists and newbies alike thanks to its compact dimensions as well. In case you were wondering how big this bike is, the Honda MSX125 measures just 1,760mm long with a 1,200mm wheelbase, 755mm wide and 1,010mm tall with a seat height of 765mm.
If and when launched officially, we can expect the Honda MSX125 to carry a similar sub-RM10,000 asking price as the rivalling Kawasaki 125 Pro.
