Countries in Asia including Japan are always seeking for  pint-sized scooters to stroll around town at ease. As such, Yamaha has released another budget friendly scooter in the form of the Jog 125.

If the Jog nameplate sounds familiar that’s because the a scooter with the same name made its debut back in 1983.

At the time, the Jog is equipped with a small 2-stroke engine but the latest generation Jog is powered by a 125cc single cylinder Yamaha Blue Core engine capable of producing a reasonable 8.2hp. 

Despite its small size, Yamaha claimed the Jog 125 has a range of 200km with a full tank and has a spacious 21.3L of underseat storage. 

Also important to point out is that the Jog 125 comes with Yamaha’s Smart Motor Generator (SMG) which function as the bike’s stator as well as starter motor. 

This allows the bike to execute silent startups. 

In addition, the Jog 125 only weighs at just 95kg, making it easy for riders to manoeuvre the bike around town and tight traffic easily. 

There’s also a hook at the front for you to hang your groceries bag if needed. 

The Yamaha Jog 125 is on sale in Japan for JPY225,200 (RM7.1k). 

Yamaha has unveiled the new X-Force scooter in Japan, a feature-laden compact scooter built to get around the urban jungle.

The Yamaha X-Force is not just another compact scooter by Yamaha, instead the bike gets a host of modern features that usually found on a bigger capacity scooter.

According to the Iwata factory, the X-Force is equipped with traction control and Bluetooth Smartphone connectivity via a dedicated app.

Interestingly, the scooter is designated as “Master of Street Scooter” similar to how Yamaha named its MT line as “Master of Torque”.

As a result, the X-Force features a 1,340mm wheelbase and an accessible seat height of 815mm. The flat saddle also allows riders of every height can enjoy a pleasant riding experience in the city.

However, despite the X-Force already made its bow in Taiwan as Force 2.0, the X-Force gets new colour combination for the Japanese market.

Nevertheless, the Yamaha X-Force is powered by a 155cc liquid-cooled, fuel injected engine. The scooter also employs Yamaha’s Blue Core and VVA Technology that provides high torque over the entire rev range.

Meanwhile, the smartphone connectivity allows riders to monitor incoming calls and messages via the bike’s digital LCD panel.

Despite its compact design, the X-Force gets a large under-seat storage capacity of 23.2L and two helmet holders. Practicality is also another word to describe the bike as it also equipped with a decent 6.1L tank and a USB port.

At present, the Yamaha X-Force is priced 15 JPY396,000 (RM12.9k) putting it around the same price bracket as the Honda ADV 150.

If you are looking for an affordable compact scooter in the market, worry not, as Modenas has officially launched the 2022 Karisma 125S, priced at RM5,397.

For 2022, the Karisma 125S gets a host of upgrades yet still maintain its value-for-money price tag.

While the new Karisma 125S offers 9.4hp @ 7,500rpm and 10Nm @ 6,000rpm as the 2016 model, the 124.8cc single-cylinder 4-stroke engine has been updated to meet the latest Euro 4 and EEV standards.

Interestingly, the scooter now comes with a bigger 5.1L fuel tank instead of the 4.6L tank previously found in the previous generation.

Other significant upgrades include a full LED headlight with DRL (daytime running light) functionality, LED indicators, a modern meter gauge with digital fuel indicator and a brand new key system.

The 2022 Karisma 125S also features bigger 14L under-seat storage with additional front twin pockets, strategically mounted USB charging sockets (on the dash) and emergency hazard lights.

The Karisma 125S is available in three exciting colours; Aqua Blue, Duchess Gold and Mystic Red.
