Castrol ready to power through Malaysian Cub Prix 2020

This weekend marks the start of not only the 2020 MotoGP season, but also the first round of the Malaysian Cub Prix 2020. Currently taking place at the Sepang International Circuit, Castrol Malaysia has put their hopes of two young Malaysian riders in the WIRA category as their sponsored heroes.

The Castrol POWER1 Racing team and their riders, Muhammad Harith Haziq bin Zamri and Allan Harris bin Herman, will be flying the brand’s flags in the age restricted WIRA category. Both these 16-year-olds are eager to produce some results after months of non-racing due to COVID-19 and MCO.

According to Harith Haziq, “We are very excited to be part of Team Castrol this year. Thank you for believing in us and giving us the confidence to go out there and show everyone what we can do.”

As for Allan Harris, he too was excited with this season and commented “This is the first time we’re racing on Team Castrol, and it’s been nothing but a positive experience so far. Looking forward to winning!”

This latest sponsorship initiative by Castrol Malaysia is focused on being more active in the local motorsports scene as well as develop young talents. Keow Mei-Shan, Marketing Director for Castrol here in Malaysia and Singapore, stated “Our history dates all the way back to the very beginnings of racing at the Isle of Man TT in 1907 through to the powerful bikes in today’s MotoGP series.”

“We are very proud of our heritage in motorcycle racing, and as one of the leading lubricant brands in the country, we would like to encourage up-and-coming talents to pursue their passion through proper and professional avenues.”

A passionate individual when it comes to anything related to two wheels (or sometimes more), he enjoys the chaotic and magical world of motorsports as much as riding leisurely to the shops on his beloved Vespa. With an education-based background, he is always eager to learn and share about the poetic arts of motorcycling.
