Ride For Jalil – A Charity Ride For Tunku Laksamana Johor Cancer Foundation

  • The Ride For Jalil convoy will be held from 29 April 2017 – 30 April 2017

  • The goal is to create public awareness on cancer and raise funds for the Tunku Laksamana Johor Cancer Foundation

  • Over 700 big bikers targeted to join the convoy from Muar to Johor Bahru with five stops in between the two-day event

The ‘Ride For Jalil’ pre-event was launched yesterday in conjunction with the Johor Bike Week. The event and pre-event launch was graced even more with the presence of Yang Amat Mulia Tunku Abdul Rahman Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Panglima Johor at the Pelangi Leisure Mall, Johor Bahru.

The ‘Ride For Jalil’ is actually a charity convoy which will run its course from 29 April 2017 to 30 April 2017. The charity convoy will be led by Tunku Panglima Johor himself in an effort to gather over 700 big bikers from all over the country to the Southern state in support of the Tunku Laksamana Johor Cancer Foundation (TLJCF), a foundation inspired by Almarhum Tunku Abdul Jalil Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Laksamana Johor.

The main objective of this charity event is to create public awareness on cancer and promoting TLJCF as an aided medium for cancer patients and their families as well as to raise funds for the foundation throughout the two days event.

The ‘Ride For Jalil’ convoy would involve a journey to 5 districts over a one day ride and would cover a total distance of about 273 km. The convoy will start their registration at Dataran Tanjung Emas, Muar before heading to Dataran Tasik Kluang through Parit Sulong, Pekan Yong Peng and Pekan Ayer Hitam. The convoy will continue their ride to Johor Circuit through Kota Tinggi. While in Johor Circuit, the riders are treated with a last lap experience in the iconic Johor Circuit before its final closedown for renovation.

Along the way, Yang Amat Mulia Tunku Abdul Rahman Al-Haj Ibni Sultan Ibrahim, Tunku Panglima Johor will stop to visit cancer patients at their homes to provide moral support and contribution to the patients. The convoy will then end at Dataran Bandaraya Johor Bahru.

Apart from the entertainment, the main objective of this event is to expose and share information with the public on cancer, as such attendees will be able to gain knowledge or contribute through the exhibitions on cancer, blood donation, free preventive healthcare checkup and free screening tests at TLJCF’s Gallery which will benefit the public especially cancer patients and their families. Public can also be part of this charity programme by contributing to the charity fun activities on site.

The following day, a charity luncheon will be held in the Grand Ballroom, Renaissance Hotel, Johor Bahru to celebrate all those involved with the ‘Ride for Jalil’ event and to raise funds through auctions which will further contribute to TLJCF.

Apart from meeting new friends, enjoying the ride, we are also involved as part of our contribution to help raise funds for cancer patients under the Tunku Laksamana Johor Cancer Foundation,” said Mr Nageb Abd Majid at the soft launch in Johor Bike Week today.

He added, “We are here today to kick-start registration for the event, aiming to get 700 big bikers involved throughout the two-day ride. With a minimum donation of RM200, they will get so much more in return such accommodation, food, beverages, goodies bag and tax exemption.
