MotoGP: Cal Crutchlow signs new two-year deal with HRC

Cal Crutchlow has signed a brand new MotoGP two-year contract with HRC to remain with LCR Honda for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.

The brand new deal with HRC will promote Crutchlow to factory rider status which will get full support from HRC and of course, the latest Honda RC213V machinery.

The 31 year old Brit rider has so far obtained two victories and four podium finishes and at the same time assisted the Honda factory team in developing their wild Honda race bike.

MotoGP rider Cal Crutchlow has signed a new two-year agreement with HRC just a few days before the next round at the Dutch GP in Assen earlier today. The two-year extension to remain with his current LCR Honda squad will see him being promoted as a factory rider which is fully supported by Honda Racing Corporation.

The promotion for Crutchlow is seen as a huge reward from HRC considering the amount of success and development he has brought and assisted with their highly competitive Honda RC213V MotoGP race machine. Crutchlow together with the LCR Honda outfit have obtained two wins and four podium finishes so far with the Honda MotoGP bike.

In reference to the brand new deal, Tetsuhiro Kuwata (HRC Director – General Manager Race Operations Management Division) stated “We’re very happy to continue working with the LCR Team and with Cal for the next two seasons. We really appreciate the work they’re doing, and we decided to confirm our relationship and even elevate it by having Cal under contract directly with HRC. We wish Cal and Lucio all the best for the remainder of this season and those to come!”

The 31 year old from Coventry, United Kingdom has been assisting HRC and the Repsol Honda duo, Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa, in developing the new RC213V for the past one and a half years which has been sort of a wild bull to tame especially in cornering exits.

According to Crutchlow, he said “I am very happy to confirm that I will be riding for HRC with the LCR Team again for two more seasons. We have worked extremely hard over the last three seasons together and I am positive that we will enjoy more great results together. I would like to thank HRC for the great support they offer me and our team, and I look forward to giving my hundred percent to this project as always.”
