Suzuki Malaysia unveiled three exciting models yesterday, namely the 2024 Suzuki GSX-S1000GX, 2024 Suzuki GSX-8R, 2024 Suzuki V-Strom 800. The unveiling was held at the Malaysia Autoshow 2024, at MAEPS Serdang.

2024 Suzuki GSX-S1000GX

Its mouthful name notwithstanding, this model leads the Suzuki lineup and is touted as “The Supreme Sport Crossover.” The manufacturer wanted to create a model that is versatile, hence blending the performance of a superbike with features and comforts of an adventure bike. The result is a superb sport-tourer.

Main features:

  • 999cc, DOHC, inline-four, which produces 112 kW (152 hp) at 11,000 RPM and 106 Nm of torque at 9,250 RPM.
  • The GSX-S1000GX is the first Suzuki motorcycle to employ the Suzuki Advanced Electronic Suspension (SAES).
  • The SAES builds on a version of Hitachi Astemo’s Showa EERA series suspension, which employs electronically controlled versions of the SFF-CA™ inverted telescopic front forks and a BFRC-lite® link-type monoshock at the back.

  • Twin-spar aluminium frame, with the swingarm being brought over directly from the Suzuki GSX-R1000.
  • Brembo monobloc 4-piston brake calipers up front.
  • Rider’s electronic assist Suzuki Drive Mode Selector Alpha (SDMS-α) suite is brought over from the Suzuki Hayabusa.

  • The suite includes Power Mode, Smart TLR (Traction, Lift and Roll Torque) Control, and Active Damping Control as standard, but the rider can customise each parameter.
  • A 6.5-inch full-color TFT LCD multi-function display features a scratch-resistant surface, an anti-reflective coating, and support for displaying smartphone app content.
  • Smartphone connectivity in conjunction with the free SUZUKI mySPIN app* provides access to contacts, maps, music, phone, and calendar functions.
2024 Suzuki GSX-8R

Suzuki dubs this model as the “The New Era of Superbike.” What it specifically means is superbikes that are useable as a daily ride with accessible power output and friendly ergonomics.

Main features:

  • It utilises the 776cc parallel-twin shared with the naked GSX-8S and V-Strom 800, which uses a 270-degree crankshaft and firing order that mimics a 90-degree V-Twin. Think of the discontinued SFV/Gladius 650.
  • The Suzuki Intelligent Ride System (S.I.R.S.) provides advanced electronic rider assist systems including Suzuki Drive Mode Selector (SDMS), the Suzuki Traction Control System (STCS), Ride-by-wire Electronic Throttle System, Bi-directional Quick Shift System, Suzuki Easy Start System and Low RPM Assist.

  • A custom 5-inch color TFT LCD multifunction instrument panel.
  • Hitachi Astemo (Showa) SFF-BP* inverted front forks, paired with a Hitachi Astemo (SHOWA) link-type mono-shock rear suspension with preload adjuster.

  • Bi-directional quickshifter as standard equipment.
