Yamaha Tenere 700

Ribut pasir melanda semasa peringkat kelima, jadi Tarres menunggunya sebelum menduduki tempat kedua.

Pol Tarres and the Yamaha Ténéré 700 triumphs in Moroccan Desert Challenge 2024.

The victory goes into the record books as the first rider to win the rally on a twin-cylinder adventure motorcycle, by beating out specialised single-cylinder 450cc Rally entrants. Tarres won in six of the eight stages, including the last special stage.

This was the rider’s maiden desert rally win. He led from the start by attacking the stages despite being the “sweeper” and trailblazer being in front. By doing so, he won the first four stages. A sandstorm swept in during the fifth stage, so Tarres waited it out before finishing in second.

The sixth stage saw him finishing in fourth despite errors in his roadbook which missed two waypoints.

He came back to winning the seventh and penultimate stage, and gassed through the final stage to win the crown.

Another amazing fact is that Tarres had been competing in Rally Raids only since 2022. He had been on the podium of the Morocco Desert Challenge in 2023. This victory is another notch in his cap after the 2023 TransAnatolia, and the third place at the Africa Eco Race this January.

His performance meant he took the overall victory by an astounding margin of 2 hours, 21 minutes, and 6 seconds, a feat made all the more remarkable due to the fact he was competing on the Yamaha Ténéré 700 against lighter single-cylinder 450cc purpose-built machines.

This year’s Morocco Desert Challenge covered more terrain this year, despite an extremely tough 2023 edition that took the life of two participants. The 3,000 km route connected the Mediterranean sea and Atlantic ocean through some of the toughest terrain on the planet.

Closer to home, the Yamaha Ténéré 700 has been reigning supreme in the Rimba Raid rally races, particularly among the Thai participants.

Yamaha has updated its popular middleweight adventure motorcycle, the Tenere 700and Tenere 700 Rally Edition for 2023.

  • The 2023 Tenere 700 and Tenere 700 Rally Edition features a new dash and electronic package.
  • The Tenere 700 is powered by Yamaha’s high-torque CP2 engine.

The Tenere 700 has continued to be a hit among adventure riders since its introduction in 2019, with the bike’s success contributed by its off-road capability as well as excellent value for money compared to the rest of its competitors.

What’s new?

Riders will appreciate the new instrumentation that comes in the form of a 5-inch TFT colour display replacing the outdated LCD digital dash.

The new dash also features smartphone connectivity that can be connected to a smartphone which feeds incoming calls, emails and text messages.

The new display also allows riders to link it to the Yamaha My Ride app.

Other notable updates include pre-wiring for a quickshifiter, USB port, redesigned brake lever and LED turn signal.

Electronically, the 2023 Tenere 700 gets new and improved three switchable ABS modes; ON, OFF and REAR OFF.

Other features available on the 2023 Tenere 700 and 700 Rally Edition include:

  • lightweight double-cradle tubular steel frame
  • adjustable 43mm upside-down forks
  • remotely adjustable rear suspension
  • 21-inch front and 18-inch rear wheel
  • 16L fuel tank
  • handguards

Powering the 2023 Yamaha Tenere 700 and Tenere 700 Rally Edition is the high torque 690cc 4-stroke, CP2 Euro5-compliant engine that puts out 72.3hp @ 8,750rpm and 67Nm @ 6,500rpm. Power is delivered to the rear wheel via a 6-speed manual transmission with a final chain drive.

Meanwhile, the Rally Edition is fitted with a dedicated rally seat, radiator protector and Akrapovic slip-on muffler as standard.

Hong Leong Yamaha Motor (HLYM) recently launched the 2022 Yamaha TMax Tech Max maxi-scooter for the local market with a recommended selling price of RM74,998.

  • The Yamaha Tenere 700 could finally be introduced to the Malaysian market.
  • There is a considerable demand for middleweight adventure motorcycles in the country.

During the launch, HLYM also revealed their plans to introduce more big-capacity motorcycles in 2023.

While the exact models are not disclosed, an unnamed source told Paultan.org that HLYM realized that there is a surge in demand for an off-road capable motorcycle in the country.

That said, it could be a strong indicator that the Yamaha Tenere 700 could finally make its way to Malaysia soon.

Powering the Tenere 700 is Yamaha’s CP2 689cc parallel-twin engine, capable of producing 74hp and 67Nm.

Earlier this year, Yamaha updated the Tenere 700 range with a World Raid variant, carrying a massive upgrade, including a 23L twin-tank that can take the bike up to 470km of range.

Although there is no official confirmation regarding the Malaysian launch just yet, but reports suggest that it is highly likely that the Tenere 700 will soon find its way to our shores.

We expect that the Tenere 700 could price around the RM50k mark as the motorcycle is currently on sale in the Philippines and Thailand at RM51,900 and RM58,300, respectively.

The middleweight adventure bike was again the talk of the town as five of the overall top 20 finishers at the recently concluded Rimba Raid 2022 were riding onboard the Tenere 700.

Yamaha is working on a factory bolt-on rally-raiding kit for the Tenere 700 range as part of Yamaha Europe’s Genuine Yamaha Technology Racing (GYTR) programme.

  • Yamaha Tenere 700 will soon receive GYTR’s specially-built riding aids.
  • The Tenere 700 is Yamaha’s most popular adventure-capable motorcycle.

For those who are unaware, GYTR is Yamaha’s racing division that offers authentic Yamaha performance-oriented components, including bodywork and electronic package for track and motocross riders.

Yamaha’s Leon Oosterhof disclosed the new project to MCN.

“It could be interesting. We are looking into if that could be an option,” he said.

Apparently, the all-new Tenere 700 World Raid played a significant role in spawning the idea of introducing GYTR’s parts for the Tenere 700.

“That bike had a lot of interest, so that was very motivational for us.

“Sometimes you make a concept and then show it and see how the market reacts and if there’s enough curiosity and interest. We are looking into whether that could be an option.

“In off-road, we are also active with the GYTR programme.

“So, in motocross, we are almost as active as we are in our R series. We have chassis parts and engine parts – both used by the factory teams. Products derived from those teams are then brought to customers,” Oosterhof added.

Sources indicate that a larger and peppier Yamaha Ténéré 900 is already in advanced development stages.

After months of leaks, patents and prototype photos, Yamaha has officially ready to take on the world with the new 2022 Tenere 700 World Raid.

First seen as a Tenere 700 Raid Prototype at EICMA last year, the Japanese later showcased the production-ready version back in January in the form of design leaks.

However, the finished version looks so much more spectacular, given it looks like something that just came off the recently concluded Dakar Rally.

While the World Raid shares the same front headlamp and a rear tail unit like the base Tenere 700, the new variants gained a bigger and more muscular fuel tank thanks to a twin-tank setup.

The twin-tank hangs on either side of the frame and engine, fed by side-by-side filler caps and fits the look of a Dakar Rally inspired machine.

Moreover, the twin-tank can carry 23liters of fuel, that’s 7liters more than the standard Tenere 700 and can take the bike up to 480 km of range.

Despite the twin-tank setup creating a more extensive front end, it also helps to fit in the motocross-style saddle, allowing riders to shift accordingly while riding off-road.

The new seat sits 890mm off the ground (12mm higher than the stock Tenere 700) to provide better clearance.

Other significant updates include:

  • new 5-inch TFT full-colour display (portrait orientation)
  •  USB socket
  • three-mode ABS
  • 43mm KYB fork with 228mm travel (adjustable preload, compression and rebound)
  • rear aluminium piggyback shock (adjustable preload, compression and rebound)
  • taller front screen
  • new detachable side-deflectors
  • under-engine aluminium bash plate

Despite the bigger and taller setup, the Tenere 700 World Raid runs on the same 689cc parallel-twin CP2 engine.

According to Yamaha, the new Tenere 700 World Raid will reach a worldwide dealership in May.

  • ekzos titanium Akrapovic
  • ECU GYTR
  • kotak dan penapis udara berprestasi tinggi
  • sproket 48
  • radiator yang lebih besar
  • penutup pam air baharu
  • klac heavy duty Rekluse
  • lever klac baharu
